Frodo- Don't
CurleyCue17-the first request for the book! Thank you so much, dear! I hope you like it!
You held up your skirts with one hand as you pushed the gate to Hobbiton open with the other, a basket of leftover foods. You saw Frodo leave the party early and wanted to make sure he had some of your apple turnovers before they were taken by the rest of the hungry guests. Not that you were harboring a small crush on the blue-eyed Hobbit or anything, you just wanted to do something nice.
You walked up to the door and knocked, looking around as you waited. But after a few moments, no one came to the door so you knocked again. This time the door moved open with a familiar creak. You peeked your head in, looking around.
"Hello? Frodo?" You stepped inside, careful to avoid the papers strewn on the ground.
No one was home, that much you could tell. The candles were all cold, the kitchen pilfered, and Frodo's traveling cloak was missing. He was gone, and whatever the reason that made him leave made him leave quickly. Unsure of what to do, you left the basket of goodies on the kitchen table and raced over to Sam's home. If anyone knew where Frodo was, it would be Sam.
You stopped in your tracks, noticing the flickering candles in Sam's gardening shed were out. But Sam always had them burning when he worked, especially as the day started to grow dark. You looked around once more, taking note of his plants left where they were unburied and his tools scattered about in the flower beds.
Something wasn't right.
You went back to Fodo's home and grabbed one of his old cloaks and a sack to put the leftover food and a change of his old clothes in for you to carry as you set off to track him down. The Shire wasn't too large, you had traveled it all in two days once. But you had a feeling he wasn't in the Shire anymore.
Unsure of where to start you decide to head to the one place you had ever been to outside of the Shire.
The Prancing Pony.
As quickly as you could muster, you made your way to the small stronghold of Men, not at all liking the unusual screeching sounds of some kind odd night owl. It was nearly midnight when you reached the gate, the watcher looking at you with kind eyes.
"Ah well, it's you again eh little one?"
"Just here for a short while."
"Stay for the night little miss, it looks like it won't stop raining any time yet."
You smiled kindly. "A wise decision. Thank you."
He let you pass, mumbling something about another hobbit coming to Bree. You paused and backtracked, tugging on his cloak.
"watcher, I am not the first Hobbit to come here today am I?"
The Watcher shook his head. "Four, just like yourself, came not three hours earlier."
Your heart lept. "Where to, kind sir?"
He lifted a cloaked arm and pointed to a pub a way off. "The Prancin' pony, o' course."
You guessed right. You smiled wide and dipped a curtsy. "Thank you!" You ran off, not waiting for a reply.
Once you arrived at the Prancing Pony you immediately wanted to go back. But this was for Frodo. wading through the throng of drunk men, you made your way to the front bar, calling for the night keeper.
With a kind smile and a nod of his head, he directed you to a small table in the corner of the room. But once you got to the booth, there was no one there. However, you were met with abandoned food and half-drunken flagons. Looking around you spotted a few overturned tables and fallen chairs.
Suddenly there was a thunk above you and a few loud voices. The screeching from in the woods sounded again, but this time much closer. You winced at the sound as you walked up the stairs, straining your ears for any familiar voices.
Sure enough, there, in one of the back rooms, was a room filled with more than two voices. And one of them you could pick out of a crowd, easily.
So you moved quickly, not wasting a moment to think anything else than to find Frodo. Reaching up you opened the door and flung it open. There you were met with a man and not one hobbit, but four.
Sam, Merry, and Pippin all turned to you and smiled. "(Y/N)?!"
The man frightened you but that feeling went away the moment Frodo stepped out from behind him and looked at you, his eyes softening and a small smile pulling at his lips. But just as soon as it came, his happiness to see you was replaced by confusion then near anger.
"(Y/n)? What...what are you doing here? How did you find us?" Frodo walked up to you, his eyes looking you over. "You are wearing my cloak." The corner of his lips turned up as he rubbed the fabric between his fingers.
You nodded. "I had something to give you and seeing as you had left I wanted to follow. I told you, next time you go on an adventure without me I will hunt you down and come with."
Frodo shook his head, his crestfallen face looking down. "Oh (Y/n), if only it were any other adventure than this one."
You looked around the room, your eyes landing on the man for a moment before looking to Sam. "What is it? Is everything alright?"
Suddenly the screeching returned, making the Hobbits all cower. Frodo stepped forward, wrapping an arm around you as you buried your face into his chest slightly. You slightly pulled away once it stopped, looking up at Frodo.
"What was that?" You asked, your voice quiet.
"That," the man stepped forward, his dark hair obscuring his face but as soon as the light hit it you saw him to be more kind than you assumed before, "is the reason I am taking you with me."
You looked at Frodo, confused. "Where?"
Frodo tried to smile as he rubbed your arm comfortingly but you could see he was struggling. "Hopefully to safety."
HUGE TIME SKIP BECAUSE I CANT WRITE THE WHOLE MOVIE THOUGH I'D LOVE TO hahaha
You held Frodo to you as Sam and Aragorn went to go find King's Foil. His moaning and wheezing broke your heart but you weren't about to start crying. Not yet. Suddenly the sound of hooves drawing near made you pull him closer, sheilding him with your body as you tried to see who it was.
But a bright light filled the area and a beautiful elvish woman leapt gracfully off her steed, speaking in elvish to Frodo, his eyes growing wide as he watched her. You instantly knew she was a friend, letting her draw near and touch Frodo's cold face.
"Can you help him?" You nearly broke, your voice catching on the lump in your throat.
The Elf looked at you and smiled, though it did not reach her eyes. "I can try."
In a flurry of commotion, Aragorn and the Elf-maiden spoke in soft tones. Sam held you back as you reached forward to go with her while she placed Frodo on the back of her horse, herself following close behind. With a quick word and a kick of her heels, the horse took off, the screeching of the Ring Wraiths in the distance.
You shook your head. "No, I cannot leave him."
Aragon stepped forward and knelt down infront of you. "We must be strong, for Frodo. He will be taken care of. Come, let us make haste to Rivendell."
~~~~~~
Three day's later you find yourself at Frodo's side, his sleeping form unchanged since the moment you arrived in Rivendell less than a day before. Gandalf had arrived and after a very long talk about what was happening, you could not bring yourself to leave him alone. If you were not with him then Sam was. The ordeal of the Wraiths scared you far more than you had anticipated, but it was your reaction to your fear that surprised you the most.
You wanted in. You wanted to join them on this quest. Whatever it was...
You laid your forehead on his chest, careful to avoid his wound entirely. Your hands clasped his, your eyes closing in both resolution and contemplation of the situation. Gandalf was not sure the Ring could stay here but neither was he sure it could be taken anywhere else.
Suddenly movement underneath you made your eyes fly open and your head pop up. Frodo groaned as he slowly opened his eyes. You smiled as tears freely feel down your reddening cheeks.
"Frodo," you whispered.
He jumped slightly, looking around with uncertainty. "Where am I?"
You smiled, laughing a little. "Rivendell, the home of the elves. It is October the twenty-fourth if you want to know." You reached up and stroked some hair from his face. "How are you feeling?"
Frodo looked at you a moment before trying to sit up. You helped him a bit, taking care not to make him wince more than he already was.
"I feel like I have been stabbed," Frodo replied with another wince, his hand reaching for his wound.
You nodded. "It's not every day a Hobbit can say they survived a stab wound."
"It's not every day a Hobbit get's stabbed."
You both laughed but you shook your head, poking his arm as you spoke. "Yes, but do you remember Margie and her two sons. There was a lot of stabbings in the Shire that day. Not a single Hobbit was spared if even a twig were left unattended."
Frodo laughed, his bright eyes glowing with remembrance. "I was worried they would find themselves floating int he river if they didn't stop. Merry and Pippen were quite done being poked."
You laughed. "As was I! If it weren't for you I'm afraid I would have done something rash."
At that Frodo sobered. "Like you did with coming along..."
You sat back in your seat and shook your head. "You are wrong. This was not a rash decision. It was the right one to make. I will not leave your side. I go where you go."
Frodo relaxed in his bed and nodded, his eyes grew tired. "You sound so brave when you say that."
You gave him a little smile. "I try to be. This is not normal for us. But it is in your blood so it seems."
Frodo nodded again. "Yes but..."
You leaned forward, resting your elbows on the bed. "But what, Frodo?"
Gently, Frodo lifted a hand and reached up, tugging at a curl of hair that was resting against your temple. "But pretty girls like you should not be on dangerous adventures like this."
You nearly slapped him. "Frodo, I am as capable as you are! And I'm not the one who got stabbed."
Frodo laughed weakly at that, his hand falling to land on yours. "I know. I know. I just want to protect you."
You cocked your head to the side. "Yes but then who will protect you?" It came out as a whisper though you did not mean it to.
His blue eyes locked on to your (e/c) ones, making your skin turn to gooseflesh. Then he smiled, easing your heart as he closed his eyes against the pain he no doubt was feeling.
"I have Sam."
You giggled, shaking your head. "I have always wondered if I could ever compare to your gardener."
At that, Frodo's eyes shot open and his head lifted off the backboard just a bit. "(Y/n), no one can compare to you. Do not doubt your importance to me."
Your heart hammered in your ears. "Oh Frodo, what have you gotten yourself into?"
Without asking for permission or for forgiveness, you crawled onto the large bed, snuggling close to Frodo's side, breathing in his cozy home scent that you were so glad he still had. You felt his arm go around you and pull you closer. You closed your eyes and wrapped an arm around his middle.
You felt a kiss press to the top of your head, making you smile. You heard Frodo's voice rumble in his chest as he spoke softly.
"If...if we have to leave with the Ring, do not come if it is not what you truly wish. Do not do it just for me."
"I go where you go," you whispered into the darkening room, listening to the calming beats of Frodo's heart, the rise and fall of his chest lulling you to sleep.
