chapter 5
Y/n and Iris land in Mordor. From there they ride to the proving grounds. Where the young uruks join a tribe.
The young orcs look at Y/n with wonder. While they look at Iris with contempt.
There is one that stands out among the crowds. An old Uruk by the name of Ishmoz. He ran the proving grounds since before Y/n and Norsko. And was in charge of their group during the trials.
Ishmoz saw them approach.
Y/n: Ishmoz! You old dog! I'm surprised you're still kicking after all this time.
Ishmoz: Sometimes I am too. But enough about me. Why do you have a manpig with you? And why is she in our armor?
Y/n: She fights for Mordor against Gondor. They betrayed her trust.
Ishmoz: As good as any I guess. I know I was reluctant with you at first. But you grew on me. Thanks to Norsko. Speaking of the glob, where is he?
Y/n: * looks at his feet* Norsko... is dead.
Ishmoz: Hmm. He was a tough Uruk. It's a shame. Losing a blood brother like that isn't easy.
Y/n: That's one thing me and her have in common. The one that killed Norsko, also betrayed her.
Ishmoz: Well you make sure to get some good old fashioned revenge.
Y/n: We will. But first we need to get her through a trial.
Ishmoz: You explain everything to her. You're recruit, you're responsibility.
Y/n: So. You get to choose, Iris.
Iris: What are my options.
Y/n explained the tribes to Iris.
Y/n: I recommend staying clear from the mystic tribe.
Ishmoz: I concur. Their powerful, but their test can break you're mind. You need a strong will for that one. But if you're one for the dark arts. It may be the one for you.
Iris: I'll join the mystic tribe.
Y/n: If that's what you want.
Hours later the mystic tribe set up their test. Iris sat in the middle of a circle. She was to go through their mental test.
The orcs chanted as a mist went into her, lifting her up in the air.
Y/n: What will she see?
Ishmoz: I don't know. But she has to beat it in order to survive with her mind intact.
(In Iris's mind)
Iris wakes up in a field. She stands up. She looks around. And sees her childhood home.
It wasn't a place she was fond of seeing again. When she approached it, she could hear the screaming of her mother and father arguing. A familiar sound that was a daily occurrence.
She knew this was part of the test. And that she was ready for whatever faced her.
She opened the door, and everything went silent. It was too quiet for her liking.
She walked around downstairs remembering the times before her own family tried to kill her. At least then she had a family, even if it was dysfunctional.
She heard the faint sound of sobbing coming from upstairs. She walked up the stairs. When she reached the top she turned a corner, only for a vase to be thrown at her.
She dodged and the vase broke on the wall behind her. She looked down the hall to see no one. Then the memories came back, she looked at the vase and recognized it.
One night her mother went on a drunken rampage and threw a vase at her father. This was that exact vase.
She continued on until she found her old bedroom. She entered, and it was just as she remembered it. She heard the faint sound of crying coming from the wardrobe. She remembered that the wardrobe was her favorite hiding spot.
She approached it, she opened it to find nothing inside. She closed the wardrobe then looked at the door. To see a warped, monstrous version of her mother.
Iris went for her sword only to find it absent from her side.
Her mother charged for her grabbing her and tackling her out the window. They both hit the ground. Iris wrestled her way on top and began to pummel her mother. Eventually all the blows to the head killed the warped version of her mother. Iris got up and caught her breath.
Iris turned towards the house to see warped versions of her father and two brothers.
Iris ran the opposite direction of where they were. Bringing back memories of when she did the same thing as a child.
She ran until the scenery changed completely. It was a black void. She completely forgot this was a test, perceiving everything as real.
She felt a hand grip her ankle. She looked to see a near dead Y/n.
Iris: Y/n! What happened to you?!
Y/n: H...help.
Iris moved the fake Y/n onto his back.
Iris: Hang on.
?: Don't waste you're time. He'll be dead anyway.
Iris snapped her gaze towards the sound of the voice to see a fake Osmond.
Osmond: You have chosen the wrong side. You should have stayed with me.
Iris: I would rather die. Than be with you again. Iris pulled the fake Y/n's sword from it's sheath.
Osmond: Blame yourself. Clearly you weren't good enough. I should have left you in that cesspool I found you in.
Iris gritted her teeth but didn't charge. She wanted him to strike first so she would counter.
Osmond: Didn't you hear all the voices? Everyone telling you that you were lucky I picked you. I could have had anyone. But picked you. You should be groveling for forgiveness!
Iris had enough and charged the fake Osmond dodged her strike and kicked her down.
She got back up with hatred in her eyes.
She tried again and again but kept getting knocked down.
She heard a voice in her head.
?: Focus you're hatred. Make him pay. Imagine him dying and it shall be so. Thus is the power of dark magic.
Iris listened, she threw her sword down. She imagined Osmond dying by being stabbed.
Suddenly the fake Osmond had a stab wound on his stomach. The fake Osmond gripped the wound and groaned.
Iris began imagining painful ways of him dying. Chunks of flesh taken out of Osmond over and over before eventually dying. She felt power surging through her. The pain of an electric shock coursed through her veins.
The final step of the test.
(In reality)
Y/n and Ishmoz watched from a distance with the mystic tribe overseers.
Suddenly a wave of energy came out of Iris knocking the mystic tribesmen away by a few feet.
Ishmoz looked at the sight in shock.
Ishmoz: In all my years. I've never seen anything like that.
Mystic overseer: By Sauron! That power, it's unbelievable!
Iris fell to the ground. She sat up and then stood up.
Iris: Did I pass?
Iris was given a mystic tribe dagger and a book of magic to learn from.
Y/n and Iris mounted his caragor.
Iris: Now where too?
Y/n: Back to the island. We grab the others than sail to Gondor.
Iris nodded and they rode off.
(With Osmond and co)
Osmond and co head to Minas Tirith to receive an assignment.
Their assignment was to defend west Osgiliath until further orders were given.
Before they set out they went to the tavern to have a few drinks.
They sat at a table.
It was mostly silence between the four. But soon that silence will be broken.
A elf walked into the tavern. A rare sight.
She walked over to their table.
Elf: Are you the eagle knight?
Osmond: I am. And you are?
Elf: I am Eltariel. I have come to join you against Mordor.
Sonimar: What's you're beef with Mordor?
Eltariel: If Mordor wins here, all of middle earth will be in danger.
Myhlan noticed her two missing fingers replaced by fingers made out of light. But kept silent
Osmond: Alright then. We leave for west Osgiliath in the morning. Don't be late.
Eltariel nodded and walked away.
Myhlan: Something doesn't seem right about her.
Osmond: I know. But we need all the help we can get.
The next morning Osmond and co saw Eltariel waiting for them at the gate on a horse.
They began riding towards west Osgiliath.
Osmond: Eltariel. Have you heard of a human leading orcs?
Eltariel: You must mean Y/n. Or as he is known to orcs, Y/n the general.
Sonimar: How do you know him?
Eltariel: We crossed paths many times. I was in Cirith Ungol. He hunted me down when he became overlord there. Him and his blood brother basically took turns killing me.
Sonimar: You mean like, actually killing you?
Eltariel: You've noticed the ring on my hand? It's a ring of power. But not like the one the nine have. Mine doesn't corrupt you're mind.
Osmond: You don't have to worry about his blood brother. I took care of that.
Myhlan: That did however cause an unfortunate chain of events. Osmond. Why did you do it?
Osmond: Seriously?! You're asking now?!
Myhlan: I deserve to know. Why did you give up hope about Iris?
Sonimar: Myhlan. I don't think the new girl needs to hear this.
Myhlan: I think she deserves to know who she's following.
Osmond didn't speak for a minute.
Osmond: She wasn't the first. She wasn't the first one that got captured because someone wanted to get to me. Some of the elf champions I defeated held a grudge. I did make friends before you guys. But I lost them because they used them to get to me. I expected nothing different from Y/n. But I was wrong.
The party went silent.
Myhlan: We're going to have to kill her you know?
Osmond: I know. But I got plenty of time to grasp the thought of it.
