chapter 11 the fall

Y/n and his troops were ready to push forward.

Snafu led the archers and was in charge of their volleys.  Dush would be his spotter, telling him if the volley worked or not and redirecting direction.

The rest of the warchiefs, now including Dushrat, would lead the charge from the front.

The defenders saw the troops massing and got into defensive positions.

Snafu ordered a volley on the enemy archers as they were getting ready. The volley did massive damage to them.

The defenders rushed to try and get a good volley off, but Snafu's archers peppered them with arrows before they could readjust.

The ologs and shock troops hit the spear wall in the way between them and the city.  But little did they know that this would be the least of their problems.

Y/n sent a message to the corsairs of Umbra. They took the chance to deal with the threat to them.  Corsair ships appeared and closed in. Marine ship went out to meet the attacking corsairs head on.

Y/n had big plans for this push. Corner a majority of the enemy forces in the west and force the rest to retreat out of the city all together.

The fighting broke out into the west side of the city.   Y/n was directing his warchiefs.

Y/n: Just like I told you! I want half of you to create a line splitting the city in half!  Dushrat! Take the mounted archers up on the rooftops and provide cover and warn people of counterattacks!

Dushrat: Yes general!

Y/n: Kruk! You're in charge of the shock troops! Make sure the enemy is as busy as possible!

Kruk: You got it Y/n!

Y/n: The rest of you! You know what needs to be done. Help Kruk, Dushrat, or make the line!  Iris, you're with me!

The warchiefs went off to do their tasks.

Osmond and co were spread out, helping where they could.

Vala however would be on the bad side of the line.  She and her troops were cut off from the rest of the defenders.  Kruk's shock troops kept the enemy from making any counterattacks.

Vala herself however, proved a challenge.  Not even Olog's stood a chance against her. She was young but very skilled.  She used a cutlass and  throwing daggers.

However.  She knew she was in a tough situation. And all her men were dying around her.

They kept getting pushed back further and further, but not without dozens of orcs dying for every inch of ground.

But it was all in vain.

Osmond and co regrouped.  Y/n and Iris found them. All around them were dead bodies.

Osmond: You will not win here today Y/n.

Y/n: I already have. With you're forces split in half, there will not be enough left to fight.

Keia: Even if we lose here, you will fall eventually.

Y/n: Eltariel? Fancy seeing you here.

Eltariel: You should've have known I'd show up eventually.

Y/n: I should have.  But you are outnumbered here.

Myhlan: I reckon he's right.

Iris: He is.

Iris's eyes flashed green as corpses around them rose up.

Osmond: *softly* Iris.

Eltariel: She learned necromancy!

Sonimar: Since when could she do magic?!

Iris pointed at Osmond and co. The dead started charging them.

Osmond: Run! There are too many!

Osmond and co ran.

Y/n: It is fun to watch them run.

Iris: It feels good. I still need to get better at necromancy though.

Y/n: One day you will be able to raise an army.

Iris: And that army will crush any resistance to us.

Y/n: That it shall.

Vala finds herself all alone and with no escape available. She is surrounded by Uruk's. She throws her weapons down.

Vala: I surrender.

The Uruks bound her and took  her to Y/n. Who was giving orders to forces. With Vala's side taken care of. It was time to push the rest out of the city. Then move on.

Vala was taken to Y/n and Iris.

Y/n: Well look what we caught.

Vala: Hello again Y/n.

Y/n: You were smart to surrender.

Vala: Maybe. That's yet to be seen.

Y/n: One of you, get me a collar and chain.

One of the orcs brought a iron collar and a long chain.

Vala: Oh my, making me a pet are you?

Y/n: You need to have an eye kept on you.

Vala: Do I get personal attention~?

Iris looked angry at her flirting.

Y/n: No.  Take her back to the camp. Tell the rest there to begin packing up. And keep a close eye on our prisoner.

The orcs nodded and walked off, taken Vala with her.

Y/n estimates were right. All the civilians left along with the remaining defenders. They had no faith in getting reinforcements.  And they weren't sure they could hold for them anyway.

But it isn't over yet. Arnor and Rohan are ready for war.    Plus the quicker Y/n marches, the more consideration elves have for joining the war.

Y/n's long term goal is in sight. He will determine the best course of action and act on it.
