Tale Far Older Than Time
Dasia's POV
Why in the world would anyone want to help him? Including myself?! All he does is mope around and drink and sleep. Ugh even some mortal men have better qualities than he does! Horus is so infuriating! However maybe walking outside of his room wasn't such a good idea as now before me stood a lot of crazy creatures that no doubt were made by Set.
"Don't move, if they see you move then they will attack and we are both their pray now." Horus says from behind me as he takes ahold of my arm. "I will get you back into the room, shut the door behind you and let no one in."
"What about you?"
"I will be selfless for once." Horus responds as he pulls me backwards into the room and I shut the door just like he told me to.
I could hear the hounds all begin their call and run after Horus. Not sure what he would do I could only listen helpless to help him. I didn't know how I did the shield before or even if I could do it again. I could then hear whimpers and cries from the dogs no doubt meaning that Horus had managed to fight a few of them off. Hearing a strange voice from behind me I look over to the bed and there sits a vial with a string around it. Not sure what it was I went up to it and there underneath it was a note.
'Throw this at the dogs and they will disappear.'
This all had a weird Alice in wonderland feel but I was willing to try. Taking the vial I ran outside of the room and followed the sound of the dogs or jackles whatever you wanted to call them.
"AH!" Horus yelled out in pain.
Turning into the main room I see Horus on the ground with one dog biting his leg and the others about to attack. Taking the vial I throw it right at the dogs, once the vial broke a bright white light went through the room. After the light had disappeared I looked back to Horus to see all the dogs down and him looking right at me.
"You aren't very good at listening, are you?" he asks as he sits up then grimaces in pain.
Running to his side I hand him the note that was under the vial. He looks at it then hands it back to me.
"It won't let me read it, the message was for your eyes only." He sighs. "There I was bit by a jackle to save you, think I am so selfish now?"
"Yes, but you are improving." I comment as I look at his leg. "He didn't get to the bone so we just need to wash it out."
"No need, the pain isn't that bad but once I dip into the pool in my room it's waters will heal me." Horus says as he tries to stand up but begins to fall, moving to his side I support some of his weight. "Of all the mortals, it had to be you?"
"You have no idea how many times I have asked that question." I sigh as we begin to make our way to his room.
After his bath, which I left the room for, and getting him to bed I was persuaded to sit as his bed side and read. I really only had one story in my head and it was one that really reminded me of our situation. Laughing at the similarities Horus looks at me confused.
"What do you find so humorous?" he says as he sits up and looks right at me.
"Just how similar our situation is to a story I know, though I don't know if you have ever heard of it." I shrug as I try to go back to reading but Horus won't let me.
"enlighten me then, what story reminds you of this?"
"Beauty and the Beast."
"Your right, I never heard that story."
"Shocking, you may want to read it sometime."
"What's it about?"
So since I had nothing else to do I began to explain him the original story of the Beauty and the Beast, not the Disney version. Horus seems to enjoy me telling him about the story because he asks questions about it to try and understand it better. Smiling and nodding I answer as many of his questions as I can.
"So who is the Beast then in our situation?" Horus asks with a laugh as if he didn't know.
"You of course, so hard and corse on the outside." I laugh myself as I shut my book and move to stand.
"I can see myself being the beast, but in the end, Belle did fall in love with him and they were married so maybe my curse is possible to be broken like his." Horus says as he lays back on his pillow.
"He was also a Prince, I don't exactly see you as a prince."
"I am better than a prince, I am a god." Horus scoffs.
"So you remind me, daily in fact."
"It's late and I don't think you should be alone, sleep at the end of my bed so I know where you are." Horus says as he suddenly looks over at me.
Taking into consideration all that had happened to day I did agree with him but I really didn't want him to know that...still I nodded and sat my book down. Taking the edge of my now rag like dress I made my way to the end of his bed and laid down.
"Tomorrow, I will send for new clothes for you, one dress must not be easy at all." Horus says as he lays back down. "Rest well dasia."
"You too Horus." I say with a yawn as my eyes begin to close and I drift off to sleep.
