Missing Mortal

Dasia's POV

Horus had kept his guard up and I was not allowed to leave his sight since he feared that Set would try to do something when Horus had his back turned. Waking to the morning sun I looked up to the top of the bed where Horus was still resting and smiled a small smile. For once I didn't feel him wake up in the night once. Silently getting out of bed I walked over to a chair and saw there was a dress on the chair. A very beautiful white dress that looked brand new, as if it were just waiting for Hathor to put it on. I didn't understand why it was here though since I only got Hathor's hand me downs. There on top of the dress sat another note.

'Wear this and feel like the goddess you have hidden deep inside of you. ~Hathor'

Shrugging and wondering why none of my other dresses had never come with a note, I sit the note aside and quickly dress in the dress. It was beyond beautiful and was truly made for a goddess, the dress was white with gold trim. Real gold! How they got real gold onto a dress I had no idea but it was beautiful.

"Well it seems Hathor wanted to give you a dress all your own." Horus says as he walks over to me, pointing to the note he picks it up and smiles. "You have a goddess hidden inside you?"

"According to the goddess of love I do." I reply shyly as I smile up at him.

Horus smiles as he takes my chin in his light grasp and looks down at me. Leaning in as he had many times before to tell me something he only wanted me to hear I wait but the words do not come, instead on instinct my eyes close as finally Horus lips meet mine and I and we have our first kiss. It was incredible and slow, as he pulled away though Horus looked at me shocked and confused.

"What?" I ask scared until I look down at my hand and see that I am slowly disappearing. "What happening?"

"I don't know, Dasia stay with me!" Horus yells as he tries to grab me but his hand goes right through me.

Then everything goes dark. I have no idea where I have disappeared to but I was scared to death where I would end up now that Horus wasn't with me.

Horus POV

She just disappeared right before my eyes! That isn't possible, Hathor wouldn't pull her out of the temple without the curse being broken. Looking around confused and now panicking myself I call out the name of the only god I know that can make sense out of this mess.

"THOTH!" I yell at the top of my lungs.

"I can hear you just fine, no need to shout." Toth replies as he appears beside me.

"What happened? Dasia just disappeared right after I kissed her!" I tell Thoth who looks at me like he doesn't believe me.

"You kissed her and she disappeared? That is rather odd, anything else odd?"

"She got a new dress from Hathor." I tell Thoth as I get the note that Dasia showed me and hand it to Toth who examines it.

"This is not from Hathor, it was a trick, there is an entrapment spell written on the back. She is trapped in another world." Thoth explains as he shows me the inscription on the back.

"I have to save her but I can't leave the temple!" I exclaim as I punch the wall and a piece of the temple falls off into Thoth's hand.

"You've just given me an idea. Instead of staying in the temple...why not take it with you?" Thoth says as he takes the piece of the temple and ties it around my neck as a necklace.

"Will this work? What if I take one step outside the temple and die?" I question as Toth thinks carefully.

"Then you will meet her in the underworld." Thoth shrugs.

Well that wasn't comforting at all. Taking a deep breath, I walk down the stairs of my temple but stop as the last one. Was I going to die and if I did would that really mean I would see Dasia again? Breathing deeply I take on step forward and nothing happens, barely I move my other foot forward and I am fine, no death or dying or aging.

"Told you, now get back here so I can send you to find Dasia." Thoth says with a laugh, clearly, he knew it would world but wanted to see how I would re act.

Running up to Thoth he began to read the inscription on the back of the note and within a matter of moments I was in the same world as Dasia. Tripping over something I look back to see Dasia was there passed out on what appeared to be the jungle floor. Quickly going to her and gathering her in my arms I tried my best to find a shelter and finally found an old shack. How in the name of Ra we were going to get out of this I had no idea but Dasia was safe with me now. That was the one good thing.

"Horus?" Dasia questions as she looks up at me. "I had a horrible dream, we kissed and then I disappeared."

"It wasn't as dream dearest, we are in another world, one that Thoth didn't give me instructions on how to get out of either." I tell her as her grip on me tightens. "Have no fear, I am here and no harm will come to you."

"Are you a god again?"

"No, not yet. You haven't fallen in love with me yet."

"Things are not always as they seem nephew, finally able to escape I see." Set calls out and with the snap of his fingers Dasia disappeared from my arms.

Looking to Set I saw Dasia beside him, floating with light around her but it looked as though she were fast asleep inside the cocoon of light. Unsure why she was there I stood and looked at Set who just smiled at me, he was enjoying my misery and confusion.

"This is my world boy, a world I created and I control. Though I can't hurt her just yet I know the power of the necklace will run out and when it does it won't be up to me if she lives or not, but you." Set says as he snaps his fingers again and Hathor appears beside Dasia.

Hathor was in a cocoon just like Dasia's only hers was red, symbolizing her own power that was keeping her safe, at least for now it was. Set knew I would kill for Hathor but now with Dasia in the mix and knowing she was the key to getting my powers back I knew Set would do his best to keep her away from me at least until the week was up.

"I'll easily chose Hathor." I tell Set hoping I can trick him since he knew that Dasia and I had not known each other long. "The mortal is of no use to me, if I want to break the curse it won't be with her."

Set's laughter roars through my ears to the point that I have to cover them with my hands to prevent hearing loss. He thinks this is all one big joke and that no matter what I do he will always have control over Egypt.

"I'll make you a deal, you have one day to find her in my closest temple, if you do then you continue your journey and run to the pyramid in time for you to make your decision. If not and what you say is true that the mortal means nothing to you then I shall incase her in there forever." Set says and right after he says that he disappears along with Hathor and Dasia.

"NO!" I yell out into the vast jungle as loud as I can. "How will I find that temple?!"

"Ahem, maybe you could use some help?" Thoth calls out from behind me and walks forward. "Come now, no time to dottle. Hate to see a mortal trapped forever in Set's temple."

Thoth! At least I had him on my side and he was the god of knowledge after all. Following behind him as he looked around for something. Just then he stopped and I nearly ran into the back of him. However, I did manage to catch myself and stop just before that happened.

"Climb that tree, no doubt Set's temple will be able to be seen from up there." Thoth says making a good point.

Agreeing with his logic, I begin to climb the trees and within a matter of moments I am at the top of the tree. Looking out through the sky Thoth was right at the far corner was a temple, one that was taller than I thought possible and blacker than night, inside of there was Dasia and she may be shielded from Set now thanks to her necklace but I didn't know how long it would protect her. Jumping down I land right beside Thoth.

"This way old friend." I tell Thoth who nods and begins to run with me as fast as I can.

"Running is useful when you truly are in a rush." Thoth laughs as we run faster than usual, even for the mortal I am at the moment.

It took us nearly all night to make it to the tunnel. Once at the gates though we saw the sun rising and we knew that our time was closing. When Set said that I had a day to find her I knew he might I had until the sunlight hit his temple, in his minds a day was never the full twenty four hours the mortals said it was.

"Run as fast as you can! The sun isn't going to stop on our account!" Thoth yells out to me.

Doing as suggested I run as fast as I can, pushing through any and all guards that Set had waiting for me. Thoth manages to get inside as well and take down the group of jackals that Set had sent as a last resort. They were faster than the first group and I knew my time was becoming lesser by the minute. Taking a torch and making a circle around the jackals Thoth yells out to me again.

"Go find her! I will keep the distracted!"

Where would Set hide Dasia though? Running through the halls and checking room after room I finally come to the last room and push aside the large black doors and there in the middle of the room is Dasia. The light around her was beginning to weaken which meant that Set was right, the necklace could only do so much. Sprinting to Dasia I barely touch her and the light disappears. Her body falls right into my arms and she takes in a deep breath as though she had been holding it the entire time.

"Dasia? Come on talk to me." I call out to her.

Looking up to me I watch as her eyes lights up at just the sight of me. Wrapping her arms around me she pulls me into her embrace. A breath of relief escaped me as I hugged her close to me. Her life was so delicate and knowing that it was my choice to keep her alive or not made me feel like the weight of the world was now on my shoulders.

"Time's up nephew!" Set roars.

"What? It hasn't been a week." I yell out into the room.

"Time is different here, one day here is one week in your realm." Set laughs as he walks forward and snaps his fingers again.

Within the blink of an eye we are in a great pyramid. There on the left of Set was Hathor now awake and chained to a wall with a magical chain that held her there. To the right of Set was Dasia also chained and weekend as she couldn't even hold her head up properly.

"Chose and make sure it's a decision you can live with." Set grins wickedly.
