"color me with many colors." -vivid

heejin pov

i woke up again, like every other day.

"i swear, this is just deja vu. same thing happens, everyday."

i peeked a look into my closet. the clothing hanged there, all of it black and white. curiosity and the need for change suddenly filled me.

"maybe i should take a walk outside. maybe something new will happen," i prayed to myself.

changing into my dull clothing, i walked to a park. there weren't too many people but it wasn't bare either.

my eyes scouted the park again, a bench close by a vast lake. on that bench, it was you.

it was you, who held your camera with such delicacy while you focused your gaze at the screen. it was you, who had your sketchbook out, mimicking the view onto those papers. it was you, who colored my world, but i didn't know that yet.

you stood up abruptly and observed the people. i flinched, not expecting that action. i had been hoping that you would come up to me, but you didn't.

you went up to several people, however, it wasn't me. the way you easily walked up to people attracted me. all i know is that after you spoke to them, you took a picture of them and their bright clothing.

i wouldn't be lying if i told you that i was jealous at the time.

after taking your pictures, you took your seat on the bench again. i decided to test my bravery and sat on the other end, admiring the pond while you worked.

"hmmmm... hmph," you mumbled out.

i tried sneaking a glance at you to see what was wrong only to see you staring at me.

"can i take a picture of you?"

"me?"

"who else?"

i simply nodded, trying to pose.

"hmm." your mouth formed into a straight line. you seemed displeased.

you were wearing a blue shirt and black ripped jeans. your backpack was next to you, zippers slightly opened. rummaging through your bag, you brought out a pink jacket.

i was wearing a black pleated skirt and a plain white blouse with a black ribbon.

"i don't mean to offend you, but what's with the color, more like no color, color scheme?"

"i... i don't really know either," was all i could reply.

you handed me the jacket and i looked back at you with curiousity.

"i would prefer color in my pictures."

i let out a little "ah" of understanding.

as i put the colored jacket on, i heard the clicks of your camera and looked over. my eyes met up with the lens of your camera.

you stopped and put your camera down. you wouldn't stop staring at your screen.

"do you come here often," you asked without taking your eyes of your camera.

"first time here," i responded.

"hmm... you should come here more often, around this same time i guess," and with that you left.

"your jacket!"

"keep it. you needed a color in your life."

looking forward to the next day, i came back to the park, same time, same bench, and there you were.

you were wearing blue jeans with a white shirt and an army green jacket. i was wearing a white shirt tucked in black jeans and that pink jacket you gave me.

like deja vu, i sat down on the other side while you were staring at your camera.

"you actually came back," you said almost immediately after i sat down.

i looked over to you to see you staring at me.

"y-yeah," i responded.

you handed me another jacket.

"what's with this?"

"you need more than one color and two shades, in my opinion."

i took off the pink you gifted me and put on the new one, red.

days passed by, the same thing happening but it never seemed repetitive to me. you gave me new colors everyday until one day, you weren't there.

at least on time.

i sat on the bench at the same time as usual. i waited for you and you came soon enough. you only carried your bag containing who knows what.

you wore a black cap with black jeans and a white shirt tucked in with a black baseball jacket. i wore blue jeans with a belt with a white tucked in shirt and the pink jacket you gave me.

you didn't even bother taking off your hat. i couldn't even see your eyes, but i knew your nose was red.

"hey... come to think of it, i don't think you know my name. my name is heejin," i tried introducing myself.

i swear you would've had your camera out by now, are you okay?

"heejin... that's a pretty name," you sighed out. i could've sworn i heard you sniffle.

you kept muttering my name under your breath.

i took off my pink jacket, the very first color you gave me, and put it over your shoulders. you finally looked up at me and i was able to see your puffy eyes.

"don't do that. you'll get cold," you muttered.

you tore the jacket off yourself and put it back on me.

"i wanna switch jackets," i said childishly. it didn't seem like an appropriate time to say that, but it still made you wear a small smile.

you took your jacket off without a word and gave it to me as i gave you the pink one.

"sorry i came late today. you probably waited for a while. there were some issues that came up," you spoke rather quickly.

"hey. it's perfectly fine," i reassured you.

you let out a big sigh. you seemed to be concerned. i mean, of course you were, you were the same person that wore colors everyday i met you until today.

"you must've been tired."

i looked over to you and saw you put your head down, nodding slightly. i moved closer to you, hoping somehow i could make you feel better.

i wanted to look at you, but i didn't want to make you uncomfortable so i held back with all my strength and just looked over the lake. you were looking at me though, and i didn't mind.

you mimicked my actions later and let out another sigh and for some reason, i did too. i felt your hand guide my head to your shoulder and we stayed like that for a while, watching the sun set.

because we met, we were both able to make our worlds ViVid.
