Chapter 16

That night, when everyone had pulled out sleeping bags and fought over who slept on the actual beds and Zinx went in his own bedroom exasperated as hell, Vambat had quietly flown into the guest bedrooms and disrupted the starter Loomians' slumber.

Felver groaned tiredly, asking in Loomian what Vambat's trying to do. Vambat replied that he used to do this a lot, and they were now going to absolutely wreck the living room. When Eaglit and Felver looked at him in horror, Vambat assured them they weren't actually going to wreck the place. Zinx would flay them alive.

Rabburn facepalmed as they filed out of the room as quietly as possible, careful not to wake Angel, who had been forced to sleep in a sleeping bag since there were only two actual beds.

"It's like a futon," Nadia had said. "Enjoy foreign culture, why don'tcha?"

Sneaky bastard, am I right?

Anyway, Vambat and friends walked towards the living room. Rabburn sat where Kor was before, the boy having left the apartment to return to his duties. Felver and Eaglit sat off to the side, while Vambat looked out of the one-way glass out into the city's skyline.

And then Eaglit lamented about still being stuck on the first-stage, Vambat agreeing right after. Eaglit knew her trainer isn't one that battles often, and that meant she wasn't going to evolve for a while. Felver reassured her that she'll evolve eventually, like Vambat will soon anyway. Vambat looked at them and said that one time he had almost swallowed some Drop of Youth in his early days with Zinx, and maybe that was why he had a delayed evolution time.

Rabburn suggested that it might take one or two more Battle Theatre Challenges for Vambat to evolve. Vambat nodded reluctantly and continued staring out the window.
