Jessie

I knew he was hiding something from me, I just didn't know what. I knew that he was probably lying about his mum, that he didn't get ahold of her, but I understood, he didn't want me to get her, but I also didn't understand, because he was still hurting me by not telling me the truth about his mum. I let it slide, but I wasn't going to let it slide for long, just for a couple of hours then I would ask him.

I sighed as I went back to my work, I moved my neck side to side and groaned. Trystan looked up at me.

"You okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, fine." I lied.

"No, you're not, you look stiff."

"My neck just hurts, it's aching, I'm sure it's nothing, I'll be fine." I said, smiling.

"You might be, but I'm going to give you a massage anyway, you look like you need it."

And with that, he rubbed my shoulders gently, kneading parts where it was particularly stiff.

"You look like you need a break." He murmured into my neck.

"I'm fine I just need to finish my work." I said, biting my lip.

"You will, after you have a break." He whispered in my ear. I sucked in a breath, and bit my lip harder, as he started caressing my neck.

I sighed and tipped my head to the side, exposing more of my neck to him. It lasted for about five minutes, and it was pure bliss.

I jumped away as I heard the door, Trystan looked at me, confused.

"My mum, she's back." His face made an 'o' shape before he took his hands off my shoulders, and instead kissed my cheek.

"We can finish the massage later." He promised, winking at me.

I rolled my eyes playfully as my mum entered my room, sh raised an eyebrow and looked over at how we were sitting. I looked up at her,

"Stiff neck. It was sore so Trystan said he'd massage it, so I could relax while I was doing my work." I said simply.

She just nodded before walking back out of the room. Before she walked away completely, she mouthed, 'talk later' to me, then left my sight walking towards her own bedroom.

"Pretty sure my mum thinks we're up to no good." I mumbled.

"But we're not I was just giving you a massage." He said, emphasising 'massage' before he winked at me again.

I, again, rolled my eyes at him, "yeah sure, not like it was going anywhere at all." I said, glaring at him, before walking over to close my door, "not like you were kissing my neck two seconds before my mum comes into my room, wondering what the hell we were up to."

He chuckled, "relax, it'll be fine, okay? Don't stress about it," he said, "other wise I'll have to give you another massage."

I bit my lip and closed my eyes, "please do, it helps me relax." I sighed.

"I thought you didn't want to get caught?" He asked,

"I don't, but that doesn't mean I don't want you to give me a massage while making it... Different at the same time." I said, grinning slightly at him.

"Well in that case you just need a distrac-" he got cut off by my mum saying,

"Open the door!" I groaned and walked over to the door and opened it enough so she could hear what was going on.

"No distraction." I whispered, "not while my mother can hear us. Just give me a massage. Please?" I asked, he nodded and started rubbing my shoulders again, as I leaned into him while he did so.

About an hour later, I had finished doing my work, and closed my eyes, while Trystan was — still may I add — giving me a back massage.

"Aren't you bored of giving me that massage?" I asked looking up at him. He smiled, kissing my nose.

"Nope, I want you to be relaxed and the only way to do that is to give you a relaxing back massage until you get rid of the stress you're under."

"I'm not under any stress," I mumbled, "I just wanted you to give you a massage, though my back was stiff, I think it's better now."

"Why didn't you stop me then."

"Because... It was so relaxing I forgot?" I asked, before turning around. "Though, I'm not the one that's stressed, you are." I said.

He gave me a confused look, "what do you mean?"

"I mean, I know you lied to me about your mum," I said, "as you're worried your dad is going to go after you."

"I think he's already going after me." He admitted, "I just didn't want you to know because I wanted to keep you safe if he suddenly turns up."

"I appreciate that, I really do Trystan, but if anyone is keeping anyone safe, it's me keeping you safe from him. I'm not going to let him touch you. Even if that means he has to go through me, to get to you." I said, before turning back around and lying down so I was lying on top of the bed where the pillows were as if I was about to go to sleep. "And that's a promise," I said, before turning my back towards him.

"I'll see you later," was all he said, getting the hint I didn't want to talk anymore and left to go to the guest bedroom where he was sleeping.

Trystan

I sighed as I went into the guest room, closing it behind me, trying to find out what was up with Jessie.

Something was up with her and I had no idea what. I loved her for saying she'd protect me, but I was scared because if my father new anything it was how to hurt me, and to do that he'd hurt her. It was the only way.

I sighed as I looked through things on my phone, when a number came up, no caller ID. I swallowed. It was either my mum or him.

So I pressed the "accept" button and swallowed as I said, "Hello?"

A voice —a female voice— sighed, "Honey! I'm so glad you're alright, what's happened, honey tell me, please, please tell me!" She begged.

"It's just dad, he basically disappeared, I have no idea where he is and I'm scared, scared he's going to find me and Jessie. I don't want anything to happen to her, if anything does and it's my fault I'll never be able to forgive myself." I whispered, as tears fell down my cheeks.

"It's going to be okay, promise. I have to go I'll speak to you later if you find out where your father is contact me on this number as soon as possible and I'll get back to you, I promise honey, good-bye."

I swallowed and closed my eyes, to stop the tears from following, "bye mum," I whispered as I clicked "hang up" before I let the tears fall down my face.

I sighed and shook my head, "I need to fix this." I said to myself, as I got up and started walking for the room door, to go look for my father.

"No," a voice whispered, "you don't." I turned as I saw Jessie outside her room door. I assumed she had heard everything.

"Jessie, don't."

"Don't what?" She asked, "don't help you get through a dark, rough patch, before you go look for your father and do something you'll regret later in your life!" She exclaimed, "don't you dare, I don't care if I've never met him, I know what he'll be capable of."

"Yeah and if I don't stop this, to get to me, he'll go through you, and I don't want you to be near him, he's too dangerous."

"I won't be, but I can't let you go search for him alone, knowing something might happen, knowing what he's done to you in the past. Knowing what he made you do to yourself in the past. I know what it's like, to feel powerless I won't let that happen to you."

"And I won't let that happen to you." I replied.

"Don't you get it? When your with me it's like I'm fixed." She replied, "I'm not ever going to feel powerless not while you're with me. I promise you that, now let me go with you and if something happens and we find him, we run, as far and as fast as we can so he doesn't find us, okay?"

I nodded, before she walked over to me and took my hand, before she leaned up to kiss me gently on the lips. I smiled slightly, as I kissed back, wrapped my arms around her waist as she wrapped her arms around my neck and we kissed for what felt like forever until we were interrupted by Jessie's mum.

Jessie

I jumped away from Trystan as my mum cleared her throat, telling us we were no longer alone, I turned my head to her and smiled.

"Hey mum, sorry about that we didn't realise..." I trailed off as she soon finished my sentence.

"That I was there after you were talking not so discreetly about something?" She suggested, I just nodded, looking away from her.

"Sorry." I said again.

"I know what you were talking about and you can't go after Trystan's father not alone and not together, if he's as dangerous as you're saying, then you can't, either of you. I don't want anything to happen to either of you, and I don't want Trystan's mother blaming me or this family if Trystan ends up dead, alright?" She said as she looked from me to Trystan and back again. We both nodded, before she turned her back and left us alone, once again.

I sighed, before I touched Trystan's shoulder, "we'll get through this, I promise," I said, kissing his cheek. "Let's go into my room and we can talk, yeah?" He nodded, and I took his hand and lead him into my room, before I closed the door behind both of us.

I sat down on my bed before lying down, I patted the space next to me, signalling him to lie next to me.

I rolled over to face him once he was lying next to me,

"Are you alright? Not about your parents, I mean, about everything else?" I asked him, worry clouding my eyes, "you seem distant."

He went to nod, then shook his head, before he shrugged, "I have no idea whether I'm okay or not." He sighed, "I'm just so wrapped up in what's been happening with my parents, I don't know if I'm okay. I feel useless."

"You shouldn't feel that way," I said, "you're not useless, okay? You're anything but that." I lifted my hand to stroke his cheek, "and you're not powerless, I won't let you feel that way. As long as we're together, we're stronger than ever." I grinned at him.

"We're like two pieces of a broken of heart, right?" He asked.

"Quoting Demi Lovato, but yes, together 'we're like two pieces of a broken heart'." I giggled, resting my head on his shoulder.

"Door!" I heard my mum shout from downstairs, I groaned into his shoulder.

"Overprotective mother mode." I mumbled to him, as I got up and opened the door slightly. He chuckled at my comment as I did so.

"Mum?" I asked.

"Yeah honey?"

"Is it okay, if Trystan and I go out for a bit, we won't be long, promise."

"Yeah, sure honey, that's fine."

I turned to him, "go get dressed, "we're going on that date you owe me," I grinned at him.

He groaned as he got up before leaving my room and entered the guest room.

I smiled as I closed the door and went get ready for our date we were going to have and that Trystan owed me.
