Looking for Angels

Prologue

The mother looked down at her child, the accident child, lovingly like she always did before she laid her down to sleep. The baby, a girl, gave a yawn through her toothless mouth and rubbed her sleepy eyes before she finally drifted off to sleep in the mother's arms. The young woman merely smiled and spun around in a circle before she placed the baby in her crib for the night.

"The angels are watching over us." she smiled, like she did every night. Before she left she kissed her index and middle finger, placing them on the child's forehead so she didn't have to bend over the crib.

"Hello Emily." a deep voice said from behind the mother.

It took all the will power she had not to scream and alarm the baby as she spun around to face her intruder. She tried to speak but her mind was racing and her muscles were trembling to the point where her voice did not work. She was afraid of this man, but there was something about the aura around him that made her muscles refuse to attack.

He appeared to be a middle aged man, sandy curls hung over his eyes, intensifying the fact that one of his blue eyes appeared to be deformed, like a scar had never healed correctly. He wore a naval uniform that was wrinkle free, but some of the buttons were missing and there was a tear right where his heart would be.

"Do not be afraid." he said gently, "I have only come with news of your child."

"Who are you?" she finally whispered, her eyes wide and her knuckles white from grasping the crib in fear.

"I am Castiel, an angel of the Lord, I've come with a message given unto me by God."

"I don't believe you." her voice still failing her. "What do you want with me?"

"I would not lie to you Emily Hopper."

He raised his arms ever so slightly from his side and he turned his hands so the palms were facing up. The lights in the room began to flicker, the lamp turning on and off, and white noise emanated from the baby monitor beside the child. Emily frantically looked around the room and then her eyes laid on the strange man; as the lights flickered to their brightest she could see the shadow of great wings unfolding from his back. Out of fear and shear belief she cowered down in front of the crib and covered her face from the angel.

"Do not be afraid." he said again, suddenly kneeling down in front of her.

With trembling fingers, she slowly removed her hands from her eyes and came face to face with the angel.

"I'm not afraid."

He cocked his head and studied her face before he went on. "Your child is special, she has a gift that will grow as she matures. She will say things that others will not understand, ignore the remarks of those who say she is ill. Protect her from the outside world at all costs, there are forces out there that can use her for the worst."

"Why must it be her, she is an accident, fatherless." Emily sobbed.

"The Lord works in mysterious ways." was his only reply before he tapped her forehead and disappeared.

《Ten Years Later》

Emily walked into the house and tossed her keys on the shelf and threw her coat carelessly onto the coat rack.

"Gen, I'm home!" she called up the stairs. She shook her head when she didn't get a reply and headed to the living room when she heard whispers in the kitchen.

"Gen?" she called again, changing her rout and made her way to the kitchen. She nearly screamed when she saw her daughter's hands on the hot stove, one facing up and the other with the palm down. "Genesis, what are you doing?" she shrieked.

"Mom, it's okay," the girl replied calmly and held up her unscathed hands, "He told me to."

"Baby," tears were streaming down her eyes as she raced over to her unhurt daughter and quickly turned off the stove.  "You need to stop listening to the voice, he's not real."

"Yes he is," Genesis argued, "He told me to touch the stove and he protected me."

"No he's not!" she shot back. Genesis flinched and stepped back from her mother's sudden outburst, hurt that she didn't believe her. "Genesis, I'm sorry." she held out her arms and pulled her daughter into her. "The voice you're hearing is imaginary, it doesn't really exist."

"But I can hear him! He talks to me!" she cried into her shirt. "All the kids make fun of me when I repeat the things he says, I can't help it though."

"Then you need to ignore him, tell him to go away, then the kids won't pick on you." she suggested.

"But I don't want him to go."

"He needs to, you'll feel better when he's gone."

"Promise?" she whispered and looked up.

"I promise." she whispered and pulled her head in. She looked out the window and almost gasped when she saw Castiel across the street, then disappear, like he had never been standing there at all. "I promise."

What do you think? If you're confused, keep this in mind, Jimmy Novak would only be a few years old when she was born, not old enough to be able to house an angel. Please vote, comment (I love comments), and suggest this to other Supernatural/Superwholock fans. ~God Bless
