TWELVE. the cowboy and the idiot farm girl

CAMPING WAS something that Layla hadn't done in years and because Rudy wouldn't apologize to the park ranger for beating him with a paddle, she probably wouldn't experience it again.

The group sat around the fake campfire in the dojo and when they try to leave, Rudy had told the group that he swallowed the key and it probably wouldn't been seen in three day... two of he had a fiber bar.

And as the group tried pulling on the door they noticed a group of people stealing things from the mall. One guy stopped in front of the door for a moment and continued on his way with the group of thieves.

The group called the police and were able to identify the man down at the police station.

But things could never be that simple.

As Rudy began to state his full government name and declared that the kids around him were his students, Jerry had pushed a button against the wall that brought down the two way glass and having the actual, most dangerous criminal hearing what Rudy had said.

With that said, the group were now under witness protection with new identities until the guy was caught and who knew how long that would take.

The detective on the case sent them to a farm and it definitely wasn't the paradise on earth that the majority of the group had expected and/or wanted.

They had no cellphone, half of them had no idea how to farm, and now they were stuck with each other until they found the man who had threatened to attack them and possibly do worse.

For now, Layla and Jack stood in the chicken coop picking eggs from the nest.

Jack went down the line and thanked each of them for the eggs.

And as he stuck his hand into the last coop, a chicken pecked him, causing him to hit his head against the coop and stumbled backwards.

And things continued to go down the hatch for them because the criminals were able to find the group with ease.

Soon, enough the criminals were arrested and everyone was back in Seaford.

While back, Kim had won class president and Jack was her vice president.

Things seemed to be going alright until Frank, a member of the Black Dragons, was caught for stealing a turtle and stuffing it into a locker... supposedly.

It was one of the first pranks he hadn't claimed which lead Jack to believe that Frank was actually innocent.

So, the next day at school, before the meeting that would most likely end with Frank being expelled. Jack made his way towards Layla's locker.

"We need help."

She turned with raised brows, "Who's we?"

He went over the whole situation and Layla was pretty much out of it from the get go.

"I don't know, Jack." She sighed, "What makes you think that Frank is suddenly innocent?"

"Look at him."

The duo looked over and saw Frank leaning against the lockers. Nothing different in Layla's eyes.

"Plus, he's the only person in school not attracted to you. That has to mean something."

"The only person?"

"Yes," He turned, "do you want me to write a speech about it, princess?"

"Fine, I'll help."

With that said, the trio made their way towards the meeting and the two of them declared that Frank seemed to be innocent.

And because of that... Jack and Frank had been totally isolated from everyone. And Layla... they would just pretend that she wasn't even at the meeting.

"Do you ever feel like you're totally alone floating on a raft in the middle of a sea of hate?" Jack asked.

"Usually." Frank answered, "Why do you ask?"

"It's probably because everyone is glaring at you." Layla smiled.

"And no one is looking at you?" Frank questioned.

"Everyone is always looking at me, but I couldn't never do wrong."

Soon, Kim and a couple other student body members entered the cafeteria to let Jack, Frank, and Layla know that there would be another meeting about Frank's expulsion tomorrow.

"Look, I'm sorry. I'm not changing my mind." Jack said.

"You don't have to." Kim sighed, "You're fired."

"Do you think that a little overboard?" Layla asked, "I mean, you personally picked Jack to be your Vice President."

"I picked him because he was nice eye-candy for the campaign poster."

Jack scoffed, leaning back in his seat, "I feel so used."

"Has anyone thought about looking for evidence that Frank wasn't here?" Layla asked, "Cage was closed at 4 and empty at 6. Frank said it was the Black Dragons dojo."

"Really, Layla. My brother's a Black Dragon and they've been closed all week for fumigation."

"Wow, your new friend Frank turns out to be a liar. What a shock."

Kim and her friends left the cafeteria and soon enough Jack and Layla left Frank's side.

Layla wasn't alone for long. Jack and Frank made their way towards the girl and Frank told the girl that he was at ballet practice.

So, with the truth out there Layla and Jack began to explain why Frank couldn't have taken Arlo (the missing turtle) out of the office.

Every piece of evidence lead right back to Erica.

"What?" The girl exclaimed, "Jack, Layla, you are just being crazy now. Kim, can we just get on with the vote? All those in favor?"

"Wait a minute." Kim sighed, "Erica, they have a point. You are the only one in school that can do what Jack just did."

"For three years, Frank has ruined every one of my dances! Dirt bombs from the ceiling, frogs in the punch bowl."

Soon, the crowd dispersed and left Layla and Jack alone.

"Thanks." He smiled.

"What did I do?" She questioned.

"Believed in me and stood up for me when known would."

She smiled, "Sure, princess. Anything for you."

"How about I offer up dinner?"

"Sure, dinner it is."

But the dinner wouldn't be just a another dinner.

It would be a dinner that change the trajectory of Layla and Jack's relationship forever.
