SIXTEEN. and kiss me goodbye

"AND FINALLY, our friendship has been a prof of comfort in the storm of life. Sincerely, Milton D. Krupnick." Jack read, "Wow. You really take this whole yearbook signing thing seriously, don't you?"

"It took two pages for Milton to sign my yearbook." Layla smiled, "That's why I have two of them."

"I can't wait to see what you guys wrote in mine." Milton smiled, flipping towards the last page of the book, "Take care." He read, turning towards Jack.

"I wasn't finished."

Jack took the book and simply finished his sentence by writing 'dude' at the end and smiled.

Layla took the yearbook from Jack's hands and began to write in Milton's yearbook. Kim soon came over and mentioned how she finally got her letter from the Otai Academy.

It was one of the greatest martial arts academies in the world and because she was so nervous, Milton decided to open her letter without being granted.

She got in and now it was her and Jerry leaving Seaford.

Jerry was offered to go to the Seaford Animal Park in Kenya for a research project.

Jack and Milton got "scholarships" in Washington, D.C., to attend Biltmore Academy.

And after shooting Jerry with a tranquilizer dart (for reason that will not be discussed) and dragging him into the dojo, Layla turned towards Jack with her own letter.

"Is that from the modeling agency in New York?"

"I wanted to wait to open it with you."

Jack smiled, "Well, open it."

She ripped the envelope open and took the letter from inside. She glanced over the letter before looking up at Jack.

"I got in." She smiled.

Jack held his bright smiled and hugged the his girlfriend tight.

In that moment, everyone was leaving Seaford and the Bobby Wasabi dojo.

The group sat around the dojo and Rudy declared that he wouldn't cry.

"You've been crying for two days." Layla said.

"You know me so well." He sobbed, "The, uh, important thing is... we'll always be connected by the Wasabi code. You know what? I'm gonna tell you guys the story of the first Wasabi Warriors and how the code came to be."

Jerry threw his head back and groaned, "Rudy, is this gonna be another one of your long-winded—"

Rudy grabbed a book with a ton of dust on it and blew it directly into Jerry's face.

The story was told and it seemed to be the exact same story of how Jack made his way into the Wasabi dojo... except Jack-Hai was getting married and this Jack was not.

"Rudy, that was an amazing story." Jack smiled.

"I can't believe we're carrying on a 2,000-year-old tradition." Milton cheered.

"And no matter where life takes us, we'll always be connected by the Wasabi code."

One by one each of the teens from the dojo left Rudy's side.

"Do you think he's gonna be okay without us?" Milton asked.

The group looked back inside and saw Rudy teaching a new group of kids.

"I think he's going to be just fine." Layla reassured.

And one by one they all left. First, Jerry, Kim, and after taking the hint, Milton.

"I have fun in Washington." She smiled, "You're going to have the best time at that school with Milton."

Mind you, Milton and Jack were going to Washington to be spies after Funderburk recruited them and not being an actual principal.

But they hadn't told anyone because they didn't want to worry about their safety

"Promise me you'll call me as soon as you get to Washington." Layla said, breaking the silence.

"I promise." Jack replied, his eyes locking onto hers, "And you have to promise me that you'll call me as soon as you get to New York."

Layla smiled at him, feeling a sudden burst of affection for the boy standing in front of her. "I promise." She said, stepping closer to him.

They were so close that she could feel his warm breath on her cheek, and she could see the way his eyes flickered down to her lips.

Without thinking, Layla leaned in and pressed her lips to his. Jack's arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss.

When they finally pulled away, both of them were breathless, their eyes locked in a dazed and happy stare.

"I'm going to miss you." Layla whispered, resting her forehead against his.

"I'll miss you too." Jack replied, a soft smile playing at his lips, "But I know we'll see each other soon."

With one final hug, they parted ways, their hearts full of the promise of the future and the memory of their first kiss.
