SEVENTEEN. return of the mack
THE SMELL of Seaford would bring joy to some and tears to others. It was home to some and a tourist trap to others.
But Seaford wasn't New York and Layla Beasley was ready to come home.
Jack and Milton had returned from Washington the day before Layla and Kim was staying at the Otai Academy for the time being.
Rudy also bought a new dojo called the Warrior Academy on the newest mall in Seaford.
So, with Layla, Jerry, Jack, and Milton we're back and training every day for leisure at this point.
But something had to happened in Washington between Milton and Jack because they had been arguing for weeks.
So Rudy suggested that they all go on a road trip. Because "nothing being friends together like 16 hours crammed inside the back of an old RV.". According to Rudy at least.
"Thanks for coming." Jack smiled, "I've probably would've ripped Milton's head off."
Layla gave Jack a small smile, "Come on. You and Milton have been friends for years. This whole thing will come and go."
The conversation wouldn't continue much further because Rudy was singing and wanted the other to join... but they chose to remain silent.
"It has been eight hours. I can't take anymore singing." Milton said.
Rudy sighed, "Just four more hours and we're gonna be camping on the edge of the gorge."
"Four hours?" Jack questioned, "Rudy, I'm getting hungry. And look, there's a Waffle Hut up ahead."
"They only serve breakfast. I don't do breakfast for dinner." Milton said.
Jack and Milton began arguing before Layla interjected saying that Milton should just pick a place to eat.
"What about the Garden Patch up on Pahrump?" He asked, "I've heard really good things about their pickled jicama."
"Uh, I don't eat pickled jicama." Jack said, "You know why? Because I'm a dude!"
"Oh, really? Tell that to your hair!"
Rudy shouted at them to stop arguing and sing the song instead.
They finally made at stop and set up campfire nearby the RV.
"You know, it would've been great if we stopped at the supermarket because we didn't have lunch." Layla sighed.
"When you're out camping, nature is your supermarket." Rudy said, "Does anyone want another helping of gravel stew?"
"I'm good. Still trying to digest my pinecone calzone." Milton said.
"Rudy, come on. Can we just go home?" Jack asked.
"Let's go home." Milton added.
"That's the first thing you two have agreed on since we've got here." Layla smiled, "Can we go home?"
"I can't wait to be away from you." Jack told Milton.
Layla rolled her eyes, slipping down into her seat.
"Enough!" Rudy shouted, "Layla and I have had it with you two. I am going to go into the RV and get a good night's sleep. You two can stay out here. Layla keep watch."
The two do them continue to argue and Layla allowed it. She wasn't going to get into that.
She had spent the last week and the past eight hours listening to them argue and she was sick of it and do make matters worse... she had to sleep outside with the two of them and their bickering.
Layla Beasley did NOT deserve any of this torture.
THE SUN finally rose and the birds were chirping and Milton was... making a nose.
Layla turned from her sleep to see Milton sitting upright and snorting or something. It was confusing and she had just awoken.
"You have got to stop doing that!" Jack shouted, waking up from his sleep, "You kept me up all night."
"You think I like this? Do you know how many kids suffer in silence from the heartbreak of honking rhinitosis?"
"You know how many kids have yo suffer from all of this?" Layla asked, "Me! I'm the kid! I'm so thankful we are going home. This is the last time I do something that doesn't benefit me." She groaned, grabbing her sleeping bag from the ground.
Jack and Milton continued to argued and Milton hit the back of the RV to try and wake Rudy and Jack followed his actions which caused the RV to roll forward.
The trio finally noticed that the RV has been rolling away and they rushed after it. It stopped right on the edge of the cliff.
Rudy soon opened the door and apparently hadn't noticed that he could suddenly fall to his death.
He looked down and his panic soon rose.
Jack soon came up with an idea, "I'll run five miles down to the interstate, flag down an 18-Wheeler. He'll back up here, we hook it up to the RV, we pull Rudy to safety."
"That's my Jack, always there when I need you." Rudy said.
"That can't work." Layla said, "You can predict that you'll be back in time or that someone will stop for you."
"Worst plan ever, Jack!" Rudy shouted, "Never there when I need you!"
Milton soon remembered that his sleeping bag also known as the Nature Napper is made of strong rubber and that they could use it to cut into strips and use it as rope.
The three of the ran off to grab the Nature Napper and once the rope was made Layla and Milton threw it over a hanging tree and lowered Jack down so he could grab Rudy.
Jack soon grabbed Rudy's hand just in time for the RV to fall over the edge.
With a near death experience under their belt. Jack and Milton soon made up and declared themselves as brothers.
All well that ends well in this adventure.
At least they could all mark off "near death experience" off of their bucket list.
