Chapter 6 - Disguises

~~Seto~~
~~Mark~~

Mark, are you okay?
SETOSETOSETOSETOSETOSETO
What? What's wrong.
Get me out of here.
Out of where?
I got taken to a pet shop, then adopted with a bunch of other humans by a blonde Neko.
Okay, calm down
DAMNDAMNDAMNDAMN
Okay I see a dude sitting in an alley with a box. He looks tired
Yeh, I'm in the box.
I'm gonna jump him. Brace yourself. Impact in 3, 2, 1

The box shakes violently, and we tumble around inside of it, before coming to a rest on the side. I push the sides open and peek around the side. I see Seto pinning down the Neko, eyes blazing. "Seto!" I yell and his concentration lapses, the man notices and pushes him off, jumping to his feet swiftly. He turns his head and looks at the box, before lunging at it, picking it up, and running off down the sidewalk and disappearing into the thick snowfall.

Seto's POV
The strange man takes off with the box, and I follow, picking up a shivering Mark in the process. "Mark, you okay?"
"Yeah, but I'm cold."
I stop running, hold him in the air with telekinesis while I warm my hands with a bit of fire magic, then enclose him in the warm while I continue running. Mark peeks out of his warm spot.
"Seto look out!"
I stop abruptly, and look at the snow and see a tiny shivering figure.

Margrit's POV
I curled in a ball shivering in the snow, my wing and antennae frozen. The giant had dropped me and a few others out of the box in escape. From what, I don't know. But now, another giant is standing above me, dressed in black with snow in his hair.

Mark's POV
"Let me down Seto." I command, and the giant kneels down, deposits me in the snow, and stays, leaning over us to provide protection. I notice that she is the lady who knew Jewel, the one butterfly hybrid. She looks up at me with eyes like green broken marbles, and smiles, shivers racking her tiny body.

Margrit's POV
It's the boy from the pet shop, Mark. "Mark can you help me." I whimper lifting a half frozen hand.
"Of course, but you might have to let Seto help too."
"Who's Set-" I start to ask before I feel heat behind my back. I turn around to see the hand of a giant reaching for me, and I squeal and bury into the snow. The large crystals of ice burn my skin with their cold, and I try to keep digging away from the giant. I hear a voice.
"Why did you try and pick her up while she was vulnerable?"
Mark
"She was frozen and I could tell she was dying. She has hypothermia for goodness sakes."
The giant
Mark stays silent for a bit, before talking again.
"Miss, my giant friend Seto is going to take you out of the ice and warm you. It's okay, he isn't a hybrid and he won't eat you."
"No, I'm not a cannibal, I'll protect you. Just ask Mark."
I curled up tighter and shut my eyes tight, preparing for the experience.
I hear the crunching of ice and I see two hands burying into the snow. Well, they're hardly digging, the snow is just melting. They reach me and cradle my fragile body in their embrace, pulling me out of the tunnel they came through. The snow falls around us but I am protected by Seto's hands, which are suprisingly warm and dry. I feel like I'm thawing out, and soon, I can flap my wing and wave my antennae again. I look around and find a jacket and clothes for me, which I put on.
"I'm ready Mark." I say timidly, and Seto opens his hands, releasing the warm to the stinging air. "My name is Margrit." I say to Seto and I look at his face, and his eyes, which are bright yellow, swirling with tinges of green. I stare into them, and remember something, that Mother Jewel told us.

I love a giant with colourful swirling eyes.

I gasp, and the giant cocks his head in confusion. "You're the giant Mother Jewel was talking about." I whisper, awestruck.

Seto's POV
"Mother... Jewel."
Mark jumps onto my shoulder, and I turn to him. "I kinda forgot to tell you. This girl and some of the other humans know Jewel."
I stand up fast, causing the small hybrid to bend over and clutch her stomach and Mark to nearly fall off my shoulder.
"Let's walk and talk guys." I say, and walk on through the suddenly empty sidewalk.

"And this is where the blonde guy comes in. I thought it was you, and he came-"
"Why did you think it was me?"
"Well for one, the fur on his tail and ears was exactly like Jewel's and he literally grinned like a maniac when he saw me. It creeped me out how similar his fur was to Jewel's, it was like he was her brother."
I freeze and a picture surfaces.
It's Jewel, surrounded by hybrids and 4 other Neko's. Three of the Neko's are boys, and one an older looking woman. Her family. But, they are so small and....... why.. are. they small? One of the older boys looks at me with piercing green eyes, and they seem to stare into my soul.
I open my eyes and find myself on the floor, my body tingling. The snow swirls and I get up fast to find Mark and Margrit. I find them in the snow next to my wet leg.
"Guys, guys are you okay?!" I ask worriedly, and I notice my voice sounds deeper. I reach for them, but they see me and scurry away.
"GET AWAY!" Mark screams hoarsely and he grabs Margit and starts running through the snow. I look it my hands, which are a shade darker, and I feel the tightness of a bun in my now curly hair.

Mark's POV
"GET AWAY!" I scream before grabbing Margrit and running from the giant. Margrit trembles and flaps her wing. "Where did Seto go? Why did he leave us?"
"I don't know, but we have to get away from that hybrid.... hybrid." I tell her, and look behind me to check on the giant.
He's sitting in the snow, looking at the back of his hands and feeling his curly hair. He flicks his ears and flexes his wings.
What is he?
He stands up and brushes snow from his butt, and looking like a newborn animal forced to stand. He's tall, taller than Seto, with long legs. His skin is brown and his eyes are green, the fur on his ears and fluffy tail are like Jewel's, and his wings are a speckled blonde. His long, brown, curly hair is pulled into a bun and he has a small beard sprouting from his chin. He looks completely different to Seto, but is wearing his exact clothes and cloak, and I can feel the familiarity of his subconscious against mine.
"What the hell am I?" he says, and his voice is as deep and flowing as melted chocolate.
"I don't know." I reply.
