And they all looked away

" We should have brought Peter. He would know what to do."

[I Doubt that] Yellow says.

(Ohh! Ten points for a guy spilling! Unalive that one by stabbing him in the throat!) White cheers as the last of the remain opponents fall. Their efforts worthless against the assassin.

Wade ignores White the best he can as he does his profession.

He had done it. He had finally carefully connected each of the dots. The small hints, leads and all of Steve's information on what Hydra had done finally led him to their lab. The place where they where trying to replicate the arachnid's DNA, hopping to create an elite army of hybrids with the powers of one of the worlds greatest heroes.

Their lab was highly guarded. But they couldn't stop the mercenary. Wade Haden't let a single one escape once the realized that. He wouldn't let a single being involved in what had happened live to see the next sunrise. This particular head on the beast would have nothing for another two to sprout from.

The whole place massacred. Blood painted the walls in long, beautiful droplets and streams.

Wade walks slowly towards the capsule. The technology piece preserving the body inside. The capsule is made of a Clear shell much like glass. Inside many lines and respiratory tubes connecting to Peter's body. Keeping the body artificially Alive. There are chemicals and unknown markings along the capsule and tubes that look nothing of any language the merc had ever been exposed to.

[You killed everyone that could have told you how to keep him alive.]

"Fuck." Wade says, his hands coming to angrily grip at his mask. How could he be so stupid?

(Oh my god.)

"What?" Wade snaps.

(That canister.) White says in a horrified whisper.

Wade looks over at where white has spotted the object. His hands fall back to his sides as cold horror sets in at the sight of the silver containers connected to thin tubes that travel up to Peter's body.

He knows what those are. He had seen them almost everyday of his life for months strait. They symbol on the metal a sign of dread to those who come in contract with it...

It's what turned him into this. This monster. Alive, but cursed. Forever cursed to immortality.

"No. No, NO." Wade says shaking his head as he advanced towards it, pushing aside a table on wheels, filed with sharp tools so he can get at the canister. Turning a valve to stop the flow of its contents into Peter's body. Wade would rather have Peter dead them have to suffer the consequences of living forever. He can't let Peter experience that.

[It might be far to late...]

"Maybe his own healing factor countered it. Maybe it's not as strong, maybe he killed it before it could work." Wade says desperately.

( Maybe his will be much stronger then ours. His ability could have advanced to be incredible)

"What's wrong with you?"

(Trying to think of it how Peter would.) White says quietly.

"Don't." Wade says as he makes his way over to Peter.

[Turn it all off. Everything. Maybe we can stop him from living like us.]

(What if it's what's keeping him alive?)

[...We're taking that chance.]

"Wade glances over at the silent heart monitor. The pulse on the screen strong, not belonging to Someone who is on deaths door step."

(...She doesn't even have a door.)

"Peter, I love you." Wade says. He looks at Peter's beautiful face. This could be the last time he ever sees Peter alive. Even if Peter conscious hasn't been with his body...

Wade starts to turn off all the connections to the tubes come red to Peter, stoping the flow of beach chemical, each liquid, each gas...

The capsule unlocks after a long period of time. Time the Merc spends worrying, sulking and mourning as he waits for the m break of the seal on the protective layer controlled by a computer.

He jumps up when it is unlatched. Quickly coming to Peter's side. Peter is still. No movements. No sounds.

Wade looks up at the only indicator the young man was alive. The dull screen of the heart monitor....

Peter glances at Wade. Blinking as they ride the elevator up. Jarvis had greeted him kindly as always. Something he was so unaccustomed to.

Peter's warm hands grip Wade's arm. Unwilling to let go. Wade is all he has. It's all he's ever had.

The pair exit the silent elevator, walking down the hall to the door of Room One Hundred and six.
"The team awaits your presence." Jarvis informs them as they stand outside a door.

"Don't leave me." Peter begs.

He always begs now. He can't stand being alone, afraid of beings left behind again.

Wade had left him again... Left him to wake alone in the facility. Needles shoved in his arms and tubes down his throat. Wade Haden't done it on purpose. He thought Peter was gone. He bad waited there. Standing at Peter's side for over a full day. Waiting for him to awake. Peter doesn't trust Wade to stay anymore. His promises not meaning nearly as much. The emotional damaged arachnid states up at the Merc with large green eyes.

"I won't." Wade says. "I love you."

Peter doesn't leave Wade's side. Farthest he'll go is waiting outside the bathroom door if Wade hs to clean his own room or use the toilet. The mercenary doesn't mind. He can't. He's learned his lesson. Whether or not the learned objectives will stick is questionable but as long as Peter needs him, he will answer his love's call.

"Are you ready?" Wade asks Peter.

Peter puffs his cheeks full of air, shaking his head as he turns to face the door. Willing to walk in anyway.

. . .

All of his team mates, his friends... His Heroes.

They look away.

To shameful to look Peter I'm the eye.

Because they abandoned him.

"I thought this was a Team." Peter says quietly, looking at their leader.

Captain America looks down at the floor. Having no response for the young man before him.

You can harm me.
You can beat me.
You can spit at me and kick dirt In My face when I'm down on the ground unable to stand.
You can scream.
You can curse.
. . .
But nothing hurts worse
. . .
Then being forgotten
. . .
Abandoned

And so the Soulmates return
