~Rose's POV
(I have no idea what chapter number this is)
We ended up getting married on the 8th of June that year. Well, we actually married twice. Once on Earth so everyone could be there, and secondly on Canticum Aurae, where we were both blessed...again. Two years after that, we took a break, settling Jenny into life on the TARDIS and getting back into the swing of things. Mickey and Martha are still together, and so are Clara and Jack. It's been a busy four years, but well worth everything. Jenny's first planet she visited was Canticum Aurae, we felt it was right. And we've not faced any danger as big as what happened with the Master. And no more babies, for now anyway. I flip another page of my cook book. We picked it up from a planet called Clampea, in exchange for a tiny piece of my hair. I don't know why, the Doctor said they like a small something from everyone who visits. Anyway, apparently this cookbook holds the best recipes in the universe, so my hair must be pretty special. Suddenly the TARDIS doors burst wide open, revealing the Doctor and Matty. "Back already?" I say, as they Walk up the ramp.
"There wasn't much to get." The Doctor smiles and shuts the TARDIS door behind him. They'd both gone out for the day to do some food shopping, Matty's worst nightmare. I guess it's any 9 year old boys nightmare.
"You alright?" I say to Matty and ruffle his hair.
"Please, don't make me do that again." He grumbles. Me and the Doctor laugh at his reaction. I take one of the carrier bags from the Doctor. "Mum, it's serious. I could have died." Matty fake strangles his throat and falls on the grating, and pretending to go limp.
"Stop over reacting." I laugh and nudge his side with my foot. "Now help your Dad with some bags." Matty jumps up and takes two bags from the Doctor, and runs into the kitchen. He's been doing a lot of running recently, practically everywhere. I take another bag from the Doctor and we head off into the kitchen.
"Where's Jenny?" He asks.
"On the piano in the library." I reply, and set two bags down on the kitchen counter.
"Does she ever come off that thing?" The Doctor laughs.
"I guess not." I take another bag and place it on the side, and the Doctor places the others on the counter top. There one bag left, I lift it up.
"Blimey, what's in this thing?" I say, struggling with the weight and dropping on to the counter.
"Umm.." The Doctor tugs at his ear.
"What is it?" I say with a small grin and peer inside the bag. I'm alarmed by a mass of yellow bananas. "Doctor!" I look up at him, unimpressed.
"What?! Bananas are perfectly good brain food, the best in fact. Great source of potassium bananas are. Plus, they're yellow, and good for parties. Can never have enough bananas, never. And-"
"Right! Okay, you love bananas." I laugh and cross my arms over my chest. "Why so many?"
"They're good!" The Doctor says defensively.
"Alright." I sigh with a small laugh. Then the Doctor suddenly pales. "What is it?" I ask, and follow his gaze. And then I spot it, at the bottom of the bag, is a green pear.
"What's that doing in there?!" The Doctor opens the bag and pulls the pear out, throwing it on the floor.
"Hey! I would've eaten that!" I pick up the pear and brush it off "It's probably all bruised now."
"Honestly Rose, how you can even touch that thing I don't know." He makes a disgusted face as I set it on the counter.
"You just touched it!"
"I threw it, big difference...those things, green and slimey, and ugh." He shudders.
"Honestly Doctor." I laugh and shake my head at the tall and handsome alien before me.
"What?" He crosses his arms in front of his chest
"You."
"What about me?" He asks.
"Everything." I say, and wrap my arms around his neck, pressing my lips to his. His hands snake around to my waist and slide slightly under my thin tshirt. He depends the kiss, and presses me against him. I try to stifle a moan as his hands start to roam lower..."Doctor, we can't do this now, here." I say pulling back, and set my hands on his shoulders.
"You're right," He presses another kiss to my lips "how about later?"
"Of course." I giggle and tap his nose. He laughs back with a wide grin. Just at that, a soft melody flows through the kitchen, and a sweet flowing voice echoes off the walls.
"What's that?" The Doctor asks, looking up and his hands letting go of my hips.
"I don't know...I think it must be Jenny." I say, and take my arms back from around his neck.
"I've never heard her sing before." The Doctor says, looking out the kitchen door.
"I didn't know she could...come on, let's go see." I say, and take the Doctor's hand. We walk down the corridor to the library, and I push open the door which was already a jar. We stand in the doorway, watching on. Inside, sits Matty on the couch reading a book about astrology, and Jenny with her back to us at the piano, singing her little heart out and creating a wistful melody with her fingers and voice. Golden hair glimmers down her back, reaching just below her shoulders and shining against the firelight. Her little fingers glide gently over the keys, playing out a gentle melody. She's outstanding on piano for only 4 years old. But it's her voice that gets me. She's singing what must be some sort of old ballad of the sheet music before her, and her voice sounds as if a little enchantress has possessed her, the sweet melody filling the air of the library. Me and the Doctor both stand wide mouthed at the sounds and view before us. Even Matty seems to be enjoying it, tapping his foot as he reads. She's too small for the piano bench, her little bare feet dangling down and not touching the floor. Then Jenny draws her little song to a close, and rearranges her sheet music, old before her time. Matty is the first to spot us, drawing his nose out of his book.
"Hi." He smiles. Jenny turns her head around to face us. Her beautiful defined features shine brightly against the firelight.
"I didn't know you were here." She says, and then a small smile spreads on her face. "You like my song?"
"We love your song." I smile.
"When did you learn to play like that?" The Doctor asks.
"They taught me." Jenny smiles. Me and the Doctor share a confused glance.
"Who did?" The Doctor asks.
"The little fairies, they dance in the dust and the fire. They sing songs and tell what keys to press and what words to say." Jenny looks upward and grins. Matty sighs.
"I'm going to my room." He sighs and heads out the door. "Faries" I hear him mutter as he leaves.
"What Faries?" I ask Jenny, who seems to have lost visual contact with us. But then she looks back.
"I think they're called....Canti's" Jenny says. The Doctor and me share another glance.
"And they...tell you things?" He asks.
"No. They teach me things." Jenny nods and swings her legs on the piano stool, swivelling around to fully face us.
"So how come you've never sung like that before?" I ask her.
"Because the song wasn't finished. I'm not allowed until it's finished." She says.
"Okay." I nod. "We'll just be in the kitchen if you need us, okay?" I smile. Jenny nods.
"Okay mummy." She says, and goes back to her piano playing. I pull the doctor down the corridor and into the kitchen.
"So what was that?" I ask, confused.
"The Canti's must share some sort if connection with her."
"I get that they blessed her, but that was kind of strange. She sounded like one of the schizophrenic kids on TV that talk about their seven "imaginary friends"" I say.
"I assure you it's fine, she must just be able to connect with them in a way others can't." The Doctor says.
"So there's really nothin' to worry about?" I ask.
"Really, it's fine." He says, and presses a kiss to my forehead. Then we hear a large bite sound come from beside us.
"You two are gross." Says Matty, who's sat upon the counter, half eaten pear in one hand and book in the other.
"And so is that!" The Doctor points at the pear with a horrified expression on his face. Matty smiles and takes another large bite.
