SIX. and the world record belongs to...
HAVING A world record meant something to a lot of people. You could hold that world record for months, years even, and have the greatest feeling in the world.
Alexa and Chase had been sitting on the steps at school and held the phone close to both their ears.
The two of them had been on hold for 20 minutes with the people from the Jonas Book of World Records to see if they were eligible to try and beat the 24 hour and 8 minute long webcast.
They had prepared for this for the past two weekends and they felt like they were finally ready to try and beat the world record.
"Yes, hello?" Chase spoke.
He stood up from the steps and continued to talk. He soon hung up and Alexa stood up.
"So?"
"They'll send a person to the studio to monitor our whole webshow and if we beat the time with no interruptions, Do Something will be in the Jonas Book of World Records."
Alexa smiled bright as she wrapped her arms around her best friend and began jumping up and down.
"Chase, do you know what this means?"
"You're not Alexa because she wouldn't hug me in public?"
"I'll let that slide." She scoffed, "People are gonna want to see us do whatever for 24 hours—"
"And 10 minutes."
"We've trained for this and we've got everything planned out. Nothing is going to ruin this for us."
"All I've got to bring is the generator, the backup generator, and my mom's stay up pills and I'll be set." Chase said.
"Don't bring those pills."
"But—"
"Don't."
Alexa was excited and nothing could ruin that.
"THEY'RE WHAT!?"
They were going to start this very long webshow in less than 5 minutes and Della had just spilled some very massive beans.
"I mean maybe they have a wire attached to your backpack or something!"
Alexa groaned and sat on top of the desk in the studio.
The iCarly gang had also decided to try and complete the world record as well.
Chase rested his hand on Alexa's shoulders, "Are you chicken? Are you a coward? Are you gonna let them ruin this for you?" Alexa glanced up, "Alexa Romano doesn't give up." He continued, "Alexa Romano—"
"I get it. Thanks for the sappy nerd speech and get the cameras rolling."
Alexa stood from the desk and Chase counted down before turning and pointing towards the girls who had explained the rules to their followers and viewers.
They had only been a couple of hours in when they heard a knock on the door of the studio.
It was a glass door and it shocked Alexa when she saw the iCarly gang standing by the door.
"Uh, we'll cut this segment short and have our technical producer Chase explain how his nerdy little machine works."
Alexa exited the frame once Chase stepped into it.
Alexa opened the door with a false smile, "Can I help you? We're kinda in a middle of a show."
"Can we crash here for a few minutes while the bomb squad is in our apartment?" Carly asked.
"Bomb squad?" Della questioned.
"Yeah. It should only take—"
"Hey guys." Chase called.
The group turned and saw that Chase had panned the camera over towards them and he'd been filming this for a while.
Alexa took in a deep breath and smiled, "Change of plans. The wonderful, amazing, talented—"
Della bumped her shoulder.
"People of iCarly are going to joining us for a while." She said, "If you don't know we're both trying to see who can get this world record."
"Which will be us." Sam quipped.
"Anyways, let's give it up for the iCarly gang!" Della clapped.
Once inside, instead of having to webshows host talking at the same time, they decided to have Carly, Sam, and Della do something for the cameras.
The iCarly camera propped on a tripod and Chase holding his own camera filming everything.
"I know this isn't ideal for you."
Alexa glanced over at Freddie. The two of them had been leaning against the brick wall of the studio.
"Nothing is ever ideal when I find myself in the same situation as you and your friends."
Freddie watched as she took sips of her Wahoo Punch as she stole glares at the group on her show.
"Thanks."
"For?"
"Letting us crash." He said, "This world record means a lot of us."
"Imagine how I feel." She sighed, "Having that world record would show how cool we are at Do Something. People love iCarly and I just want the same thing for our show."
Freddie glanced up at Alexa. Do Something meant a lot to her and the fact that she felt like she had to compete for likeness wasn't fair to her.
She had wanted to make something of her own for months and had been practicing with Della and Chase for the perfect moment to do so. She had done all this preparation for her show to get called a "copycat show" or "the worst iCarly".
She had great reviews come in but the negative ones stuck with her the most and she felt like if she had this world record more people would watch and more people would take her seriously as a creator on the internet. That is could be a livelihood for her and that she was something. That she was someone.
"I think you're doing a great job. You guys average 765,000 viewers each show. You've gotta be doing something right." Freddie said.
"Why do you know our stats?"
"Chase and I compare data all the time." He smiled, "Best man wins?"
He held his hand out for her to shake.
He almost took it back because he felt like Alexa was going to squeeze his hand to death like the time he and Sam hugged and she gave him a wedgie.
But Alexa took his hand and gently shook it. She was beginning to let her vendetta with Freddie go as she almost got that he was apart of iCarly because he was behind the camera for the majority of the time while Chase was put in front of the camera whenever he pleased.
"You're on Benson."
"Hey, we've got a clear." Carly said, "We can head back to our studio."
After Carly thanked the group for letting them crash, they had gotten right back to working on their 24 hour showing.
That had planned this for a while and took turns sleeping so they could at least hit the mark when it came down to the wire.
And soon the timer had stopped.
They had it the 24 hour mark and only had 10 minutes left.
"We want to thank everyone for tuning in for this special episode of Do Something. We couldn't have done without Chase and his nerdness." Alexa smiled.
Della went on to thank the people when another knock stopped them.
It was once again the iCarly crew with the lady that had been monitoring their show.
"We want to congratulate you guys on having the world record." Carly said.
"What do you mean?" Alexa asked.
"Our power cut in the apartment and we were down for 4 seconds." Freddie explained, "So, you guys are going in the book."
There was a loud siren noise indicating that they had officially been live for 24 hours and 10 minutes, meaning, that they had officially broken a world record.
"That's all for now!" Alexa smiled at the camera. Della and Chase soon joining her side, "We'll probably take a break to get our creative minds going but thanks for tuning in and watching us make history." She smiled.
They went over their normal outro as usually and ended the webcast.
"Okay, let's take this picture so we can put it in the book."
Alexa, Della, Chase, and Kendall had huddled up together before Alexa sighed.
"Can they be in the photo also?" She asked, "They we're apart of our webshow for a earlier half."
"Alexa you don't—"
She cut Carly off, "Get in the picture before I change my mind."
Spencer, Kendall, Sam, Della, Chase, Carly, Freddie, and Alexa all huddled around each other for the photo.
Freddie glanced towards Alexa who sent him a small smile.
Deep, deep down Alexa had a heart for other and she was clearly not ready to show it, but she was definitely taking steps in the right direction.
