swomebody's in twouble.

ECONOMOS DROVE THE TRUCK BACK FROM GOFF'S HOUSE, driving back to the HQ. Vigilante had to ride back with them since he now knew too much and Murn didn't want to risk sending him off to go possibly tell some sketchy people about Project Butterfly.

"So, after the butterfly flew out of Goff's head, what happened to it?" Harcourt asked after Jada had retold the events that had happened underground.

"I shot it. It just...blew apart," Smith answered, shaking his head.

"Wait, you did?" Jada asked, not remembering him shooting at it at all, unless she was already trying to get out of the cave by then. Smith nodded, not meeting her eyes.

"It would've been nice to have captured it, but I guess it's good it didn't get away," Harcourt said with a shrug.

Vigilante groaned, his foot exposed with his bloody pinky toe. "I'm not sure I'm ever gonna walk again," he told them. Jada looked over at him, still trying to grasp the fact that he was the same guy from Fennel Fields.

"Why?" Economos asked in confusion.

"Motherfucker cut half my pinky toe off. It's the most important toe there is," he explained.

"I don't think so," Harcourt said.

"Yeah, that's not true," Adebayo voiced at the same time.

"Yeah, it is! You can't walk without it!" Vigilante exclaimed.

"You can walk just fine without a pinky toe," Adebayo told him.

"You'll fall over all the time, look stupid, and everyone will laugh at you," he said in a hurt tone.

"You already got the stupid part down, so I wouldn't worry," Jada muttered under her breath, causing Adebayo to snort.

"Hey!" Vigilante said, getting insulted. He didn't understand why she wasn't reciprocating the feelings he felt towards her, whether or not they were as extreme.

Harcourt shook her head and asked, "Who's gonna laugh at you for falling over because you don't have a toe?"

Smith laughed out loud before he noticed the look Harcourt and Adebayo gave him. "I was just imagining it. I'm sorry."

"You can't walk if you lose your metatarsal. That's like the knuckle of the pinky toe, but if you just lose your pinky, it's fine," Adebayo explained. Vigilante grunted in defeat, causing Jada to raise her brows at him.

An unconscious Judomaster then fell over from where he was propped up, making all of them stare down at him. "What are we gonna do about him?" the blonde asked, prompting Smith and Vigilante to immediately pull out their guns and aim it at Judomaster. "Hey, no!"

"Put your fucking guns away, cabrones," Jada said threateningly, using the Spanish word for 'fuckers'.

"What the hell does that mean?" Smith asked as he put his gun away, Vigilante doing the same.

"It means...now," she lied before she looked at Adebayo and mouthed, "No, it doesn't." Adebayo snorted again, making Smith give the two of them a confused look since he didn't see what Jada had said. Jada just gave him an innocent grin, which only made him more confused.

After arriving back at the HQ, the team began to sort out the boxes of things they received about Goff to hopefully get more information on him. Murn marched inside and asked Vigilante, who still kept his mask on, "You okay to drive now?"

"Yeah," Vigilante said and Murn tossed him keys.

"Harcourt, Adebayo, and Reyes, go through those boxes from the Goff residence. See if there's anything to lead us to other butterflies," Murn instructed, pointing at the blonde.

"Me? Why not John?" Harcourt questioned and Jada gave her a look at her complaint. Even though she wasn't exactly thrilled to be going through evidence, it was at least better than staking out with Peacemaker again.

"He's got to keep Judomaster alive!" Murn answered before he turned towards Smith. "Peacemaker, in my office."

"Wuh-woh...swomebody's in twouble," Jada taunted in a mock baby voice, making Smith roll his eyes before he followed Murn into the other room. Jada smirked to herself before she walked over to the table to sort out the boxes.

"Hey, Jada," Vigilante said from his seat, but Jada ignored him. "Yoo-hoooooo! Jadaaaaa! Helloooo!" he continued annoyingly.

Jada rolled her eyes and looked over at him, "What?" She raised her eyebrows, waiting for his response.

"How are you?" he asked interestedly, a dumb smile plastered underneath his mask even though she couldn't see.

She scoffed at him, glancing over at Harcourt in disbelief. "Better than your toe, that's for sure," she answered sardonically.

He began to stand up from his seat. "I think my toe is actually starting to feel be — No! Fuck it! Fuck! Fuck!" he yelled once he started to walk around, causing Jada to watch amusingly. "Fuck, it hurts to walk on! Ow! Owww, fuck! It hurts!" he continued to whine.

"You're such a dumbass," she insulted, even though her tone seemed entertained, shaking her head. "I'm going to the bathroom."

"Is that code for 'you're going to the bathroom so you want me to follow you and then we can make out in the bathroom'?" he asked through his pain, causing Economos to snort.

Jada gave Economos an annoyed look before she responded, "Yeah, those words will never come out of my mouth."

"Well, of course not, because they're coded for a reason, duh," he said, holding his hands out before he began to groan in pain once again.

Jada rolled her eyes once again before she just turned around and walked towards the bathroom. After doing her business and watching her hands, she opened the door, only to be faced with a downcast-looking Adebayo. "Whoa," Jada breathed out, not expecting her to be there. "What happened?"

"Oh, uh..." Adebayo cleared her throat, making Jada arch a brow suspiciously. "Vigilante and Peacemaker left."

"And you're...sad about that?" Jada asked slowly, her eyes narrowed at the woman.

"No, I'm — I'm not sad. I'm just telling you because I, uh, I know you don't like them," Adebayo told her with a shrug, her eyes shifting.

"Yeah...okay," Jada said with a nod, not believing her. "Well, the bathroom's all yours." Jada then walked past her, going back over to Harcourt in the other room. "Hey, did you say anything to Adebayo?" Jada whispered, sitting down at the table.

Harcourt glanced up at her. "Yeah, I told her she couldn't balk next time since she hesitated killing a guy last night," the blonde admitted. "Why? Did she say something to you?"

"No, she didn't actually. That's why I asked," Jada replied and Harcourt curtly nodded, going back to searching through the information.

A little while later, after going through heaps of information, Jada took a break by going outside and getting a little bit of fresh air. Adebayo had left a little while ago to try and get Smith to not see his father, so it was just her, Harcourt, Economos, and Murn left at the HQ (with an unconscious Judomaster).

"Hey," Harcourt said from behind her, causing her to turn around. "I need to talking to you about something."

"What's up?" Jada asked, a little confused as to why the blonde had waited until now to do so.

"Remember that explosion that we caused to get you guys out of that underground area at Goff's?" Harcourt asked and Jada nodded. "Murn was knocked out pretty bad by it, to the point where he couldn't get up or speak clearly."

"Okay, so?" Jada said, not seeing the big deal because he was fine now.

"He's perfectly fine now," she said, voicing Jada's thoughts. "No concussion. No bad cuts or bruises. No limps. Nothing," she listed. "Don't you think that's a little suspicious?"

"Yeah, I guess. But he's done a lot of this shit in the past? He's gotta be used to it by now," Jada told her.

"He also knows a lot about butterflies. More than what it says on file," Harcourt alluded, crossing her arms.

"Are you saying...that you think Murn is a butterfly?" Jada whispered just in case someone was eavesdropping.

Harcourt nodded, "Yes, but I don't think he's against us. If he was, I feel like he wouldn't be going to these lengths to keep Smith and the rest of us safe."

"So you think he's a good butterfly?" Jada guessed and Harcourt nodded again. "Is that even a thing?"

"Like I said, there's barely any information recorded, but he seems to know a lot more," the blonde replied. "But for now, let's keep this speculation under wraps just in case."

"Yeah...good idea," she responded. Harcourt then went to return back inside before Jada called out, "Hey, wait."

"Yeah?" Harcourt stopped, looking over her shoulder.

"You think that Vigilante guy is a freak?" she asked, her head tilted slightly. She didn't know why she asked the question. She just felt like the Adrian Chase she spoke to at the Italian restaurant wasn't anything like Vigilante.

"Yeah, doesn't everyone?" Harcourt assumed and Jada nodded slowly. "He seems to like you a lot, though," she added afterwards, her eyebrow arched.

Jada shook her head, "No, I think he's just being an ass to piss me off after I yelled at him for saying he didn't save my life. Which he didn't, by the way. I could have easily fought off those guys in the alley."

"Yeah...well, I'm heading back inside so—" Harcourt was cut off by a gun shot, making the both of their eyes go wide.

Don't worry, next chapter will have more Adrian and Jada!!! Sorry for the lack of them, it's because Adrian hasn't really shown up a lot just yet in the show and I don't think it's realistic for Jada to want to go with him and Peacemaker because she hates Peacemaker, so I'd rather to take it slowly!

I hoped you liked this chapter! Don't forget to vote and comment your thoughts!
