04 - Taehyun and the scared douchebag
"Did you see a ghost or something?"
I was annoyed, and sleepy, and...okay maybe I was a bit spooked out as well but that was better left unsaid. I did not want to boost Choi Yeonjun's ego, which I highly doubt was left in him. He was shaking like a leaf.
That was how I found myself very awake at three in the morning with a very scared Yeonjun on my bed. And that very Yeonjun was holding onto me like a goddamn koala while chanting some otherworldly shit.
To make matters worse, there was an electricity shortage, and there were these useless fucking tiny vampires we call mosquitoes who made their oh-so-awesome tune right in my ears. Even the room smelled a thousand times worse than before.
"A nightmare, then?"
No answer.
"Mosquitoes?"
Still nope.
I sighed, trying very hard not to roll my eyes or throw the man to the floor and leave him at the mercy of the roaches, the presence of which I was pretty sure about, even though I had seen none yet. "What do you want me to do-"
A dull thud sounded from somewhere to my right. My ears perked up. The Douchebag koala man only suffocated me further, tightening his grip. And finally, did he grace me with his voice, although the thing he spewed was utter bullshit.
"G-ghost..." He whispered into my neck.
"Yeah, a bigger ghost than y-"
Another thud and my reflexes decided for me to go under the bedsheet. Yeonjun came right after me. "See?! I told you-"
"Let me think you imbecile!"
An eerie, almost nerve-wracking silence followed and I could've very possibly believed in douchebag's theory of a ghost if it wasn't for my hand to hit my phone right at that moment. I immediately had an idea. How did I forget my phone has a flashlight? (Douchebag's fault probably)
And so I followed along with the plan and slowly lowered the bedsheet. Yeonjun had his head buried into my pillow. I could only sigh as I turned the flashlight on.
"Oh."
"It's a ghost! I knew it-"
"Shut the fuck up, dude. It's..."
Our 'alleged' ghost tilted its head, staring at me with its large confused eyes. "Aww."
Douchebag had his head up at once, staring at me as if I had gone bonkers. Then he turned his head to the creature.
"Oh. It's a cat."
"No shit, Sherlock."
Yeonjun let out an exasperated sigh, resting his head back on my pillow. I patted his back, my eyes watering with my efforts to hold back my laugh. "So you're afraid of ghosts, eh?"Yeonjun rolled on the bedsheet, still holding onto the pillow and groaning.
"Fucking die already."
"Sorry."
"I hate you."
"The feeling is mutual."
In my peripheral vision, I saw the cat taking sleek steps towards the bed, gracefully hopping upon it.
"Oooh... kitten! Can I touch you?"
"Don't touch it."
It was quite amusing for Yeonjun to think I would oblige him. I reached out to the feline, gently rubbing at its grey dark fur. "It even has a collar. I wonder how she got in." And right then my eyes caught the window. "Ah, you little sneaky one." I couldn't help but chuckle.
My eyes fleeted back to Yeonjun. He no longer had the pillow to his face, but was instead looking at me intently. I frowned, a bit surprised.
"What? "
But he said nothing, not until a few moments later.
"You were smiling..." He paused. "I've never seen you smile."
"Uh-" I was caught off-guard. "Go to your bed, yah!"
And then he was the one chuckling, getting himself out of the covers. "You are so cute."
"I did not ask, you dimwit!"
