~Chapter 2~
No matter how bad my life is right now in this moment, I make the King's ten times as worse, I vowed silently as I trudged up to the palace gates. Quietly I snuck up behind a palace servant, knocked her unconscious, and "borrowed" her fancy robes. However, I was not ruthless enough to leave the poor girl stripped bare. I gave her my old linen clothing to wear. While I tye my hair up with blue lace ribbon and jade crested hairpins to match my silk ocean blue robes. Just as I am about to enter the palace gates, I find small hand knives, which I hide in the folds of my robes. Just in case a guard tries to attack me.
Walking through the gates the guards just nod and let me pass. Looking around at the vast land and luxuries the king has, makes my blood boil and my taste for vengeance stronger. How can he have all this, while we had almost nothing at all? I thought. Now I have nothing at all except for the clothes on my back and a taste for vengeance. The king will have his downfall even if its the last thing I do.
The king's personal servant scurried in a haste by me, without even the slight acknowledgment. He must be heading to see the king, I thought. I had successfully found a way to sneak up on the king. I quietly followed his personal servant to the king's large living quarters. The servant straightened his clothing and hair and enter the room. I discreetly slipped in after him, hiding behind some armory. I watched as the servant pulled out a scroll of silk and gold and handed it to the king. "Your highness, The Kingdom of Luxing has sent yet another request for you to meet their princess, Aria Lexian." said the servant as he bowed to the king. The king sighed and said, "How many times must I reject their offer for them to understand, Yu Cheng?" Yu Cheng nodded and said, "Your highness you are so gracious for not losing your temper, at their consistent begging." The king yet again sighed. "All this begging is causing me a headache, Yu Cheng get me some herbal tea." said the king. "Yes, your highness," said Yu Cheng before exiting the room in a hasty fashion. "What would I do without him?" the king mummured to himself.
Long after Yu Cheng had returned with the tea and gone, the king sat in a quiet room alone sipping his herbal tea. I had been still in my hiding spot for over an hour, my legs felt wobbly and my stomach grumbled. The king suddenly said, "You don't think I don't know you're there?" I didn't move an inch hoping he wasn't speaking of me. Still, with his eyes closed, he spoke and said, "I know you hear me, behind the armory. Come out and be at peace." I slowly came out of my hiding and stood before the king. He opened his ocean blue eyes and looked at me. I examined his wardrobe and features, carefully taking in detail. He had ocean blue eyes, his long blonde hair tied up with amethyst hairpins, and golden laced silk robes. Quite a strong jawline and muscular build-up. He smirked as he noticed me observing him. I felt my face grow hot. But why? I thought. I don't like him at ALL.
