Distraction
They were fighting ghosts at a water treatment plant. Canary blew out the lights, heightening Bionica's abilities. She wasn't the only one with increased reflexes, as her aunt - the other one - was going all out as well. Felicity located the bomb and Diggle switched it off while the rest of team Arrow finished off the Ghosts.
They returned to the base and Allie was all over Felicity, and trying to figure out a codename for her. While they were talking, Oliver pulled her aside.
"Can I talk to you for a second? Kind of felt like you were out there for blood tonight."
Allie scoffed. "So? They're heightened soldiers. So what if I go hard on them? If I go easy on them," she leaned up closer, "things are going to end bad really fast."
Oliver sighed. "I'm worried that if you keep going the way that you're going, you're going to put one of them down permanently."
Allie rolled her eyes, annoyed with her father's hand holding. "I know where the line is, ok? Look, it's almost 9:00 and we have your announcement in a couple hours. So I only have time for a lecture, or a shower. I choose shower."
Allie bit her lip in excitement as she walked away after standing up her father. What a classic, normal teenage thing to do. Allie went home and showered, grabbing a quick breakfast before she dressed up for the press conference.
She was living in her mother's apartment with Sarah, and picked out an outfit from Laurel's closet. A car came to pick them up and the girls went and met the rest of the team and the hall.
"Everyone ready? You know your pla..." Oliver was starting to check in on the group, but paused when he noticed Allie. She reminded him so much of Laurel as she stood there in a power pose, wearing what he was sure was Laurel's pantsuit. He cleared his mind, replacing his thoughts with anger at her for trying to replace Laurel.
Allie smiled as she noticed him pause on her. She hoped he was thinking of her mother. Maybe slowly he'd put the pieces together. "Yeah, we're all good," she answered his unfinished question, then followed him up to the platform.
"Thank you. Thank you all so much," Oliver began. "For the past six months, the mayor's office at city hall has stood vacant, waiting for someone to step forward on behalf of Star City. And today, I am here with all of you to tell you that I am stepping forward."
He waited for the applause to end.
"Two years ago, I lost my mother Moira Queen, who was also a candidate for mayor. And I remain inspired by her kind heart, and her selfless devotion to this city."
Before he could continue, gunfire rang out and the guards ushered Oliver down as Sarah ran to the gunman.
"Go help the crowd!" Oliver redirected the guards so he wouldn't have to be stuck. When the stood staring at his face, Allie stepped in.
"I'll get him out. Go help!" She shoved them out, then lead Oliver down the back.
"The shots are a distraction. There's no one up here!" Sarah told them over the comms.
"Ghosts," Allie and Oliver said together and split up to find the intruder.
Allie was running through a space and found a new guard escorting Felicity out. "Hey! You're not on our detail!"
The cornered guy pushed Felicity aside and brandished a tasing rod, lashing out Allie. Allie tried avoiding being hit and tumbled down a step, letting the guy run off. Allie growled and found her footing, running after the maskless ghost.
She chased all up the building until he tried running out the emergency exit. Allie was right on his tail and smashed the heavy door on him, toppling him over the cement stairwell. He landed on the truck and tumbled down to his feet where Allie was waiting for him. They were going at it pretty bad, Allie having the upper hand, until he struck her with his baton and knocked her down.
Allie was down, gasping as the electricity was still running through her. Sarah found her and helped up and to the base under Queen Manor.
At base, Allie was just getting up from the med bay when Oliver returned from the precinct.
"How you feeling?" He asked as she joined him in the way to the central station.
"Like I wanna go round two with the son of a bitch," she grumbled.
Oliver smirked a scoff and met the rest of the team.
"But this guy wasn't wearing a mask," Thea said in the conversation.
"There was something else different about him," Sarah said as she lead them down the platform to another station. "He left behind evidence."
"Fingerprints," Diggle noted as the machine was working on the windshield of the truck the guy had fallen on.
"How'd you get the owner to part with his windshield?" Allie asked, inspired by her aunt.
"Felicity bought his truck," Sarah responded.
"It's one of the benefits of your boyfriend running a multi-billion dollar conglomerate. We have money now," Thea said with a playful raise of her brows.
Allie started to have a new appreciation of Atom, or Ray Palmer as the team knew him as. He'd renamed the manor back to the family, and Allie relished the few chances she got to explore her ancestral home, even if she couldn't live here just yet.
"I don't exactly think that was money well spent," Felicity spoke on her way back to the computers. I don't think these prints are going to do us any good."
"What the hell?"
"What a mess," Darhk slow clapped as he came behind Machin. "Too bad it was all for nothing."
The maskless ghost turned to face his employer.
"Half of your fee has been..."
"This isn't about money for me. Not anymore. I would have been done with Oliver Queen if it hadn't been for that little bitch and her weird hands."
The last bit got Darhk's attention. "Hmm. I think it's time we finally meet our little mystery girl."
"Give me more time. I'll make sure Oliver Queen doesn't run for mayor. And the girl..."
"Oh, you'll have your chance again, Mr. Machin. But I think we need to bring in a little special someone of our own. Let's make it more... personal."
