Anna was working late again, checking on the patient files and studying them until there was a soft knock on her door.

"Come in!"

Layla came inside with a cup of coffee on her hands. "This is for you dear." She smiled and kept the coffee on the table. "You're working late again." And Anna nodded at her.

"But I'm almost done," Anna said and smiled at her.

"You always say that and end up sleeping in the morning." Layla sighed and rolled her eyes over. "I'm leaving now, don't stay up too late. You should take care of your health, dear."

"I will," Anna smiled cheekily at her to which Layla narrowed her eyes at her.

"Goodnight dear, see you in the morning."

"Goodnight, drive home safely,"

Layla grabbed her bag from the table and went downstairs into the parking lot. And as she exited the door, she heard someone's shouting from some few distances.

"But what!"

There was a group of people near the emergency exit. She narrowed her eyes and saw a man covered with blood. Her eyes went wide and quickly rushed towards them.

"It's very la-te, doc-tor's not avail-able." She heard one of the nurses stutterings in fear as she neared towards them.

"Take him to the operation room no.3. Luckily, one doctor is available. I'll inform her right now." She reached them and said quickly. And immediately after that, she ran back inside.

Anna was busy drinking her coffee and doing her studies while someone suddenly came rushing and flew her door open. She got startled and was nearly about to spill the coffee over her.

"Layla, you scared me!" She squeaked.

"I'm sorry, Anna but it's an emergency. A man has been brought in right now. He's been shot by a bullet." She informed her. After hearing that, Anna quickly abandoned her works and got off from the chair.

"Where is the patient now?" Anna asked as they rush on their way.

"I told the nurses to put him on room no.3," Layla answered.

"Alright!" They made a turn towards the operation room no.3. Anna saw two men standing in front of the door, their back facing her. "Who are they?" She asked.

"Patient's brothers," Layla answered shortly.

"The doctor's here," Layla said as they neared them. And as the men turned their heads back, Anna's eyes met those familiar blue eyes and the time stopped. The memories from five years back came rolling in and her eyes were filled with unshed tears once again. And Leo, on the other side stood frozen in his place and stared at her in surprised.

"Anna, you alright?" Layla concerned voice broke the moment and they both quickly look away from each other. Leo expression slowly turned cold and fisted his hand under his pocket as he was reminded of the situation five years ago. Alesso, who was happy and confused at the same time, smiled at Anna and was about to jerk towards her but was halted when Leo shot him a dangerous glare. Anna noticed that and felt offended at Leo's reaction but didn't show. She too held on her emotions and started walking towards them.

"I'm Dr. Anastasia; I'll do my best to treat your brother," Anna said looking straight with no emotion. Being a doctor, she should not let her personal matters come in her works. "Don't worry, I'll save him," she said and moved forward.

"You better do that." Leo lowly uttered as she passed by him. Anna heard him but she didn't say anything and continue walking.

After an hour, Anna along with her team came out from the operation room. Her face immediately turns cold at the sight of Leo.

"The operation was successful. The bullet went deeper than we expected but not to worry, it has been removed. He has been injected with sleep," Anna informed seriously in her doctor mode and strolled away immediately. She made her way to the washroom and cleaned up. After cleaning up, she sighed deeply and gripped on the basin's countertop, her shoulders weaken and slumped. All this time, she was holding so many emotions inside her. The memories from five years ago came rolling inside her and at the same time, she was reminded of the history their families shared. During the past five years, she was filled with the histories and knowledge about their families' relationships and also has learnt so much about the mafia world. Her grandfather and brothers filled everything to her.

Get yourself together, Anastasia. You can't be weak in front of him. We live in two worlds apart. We can't be together. He is an enemy now. Anna thought inside and reminded herself before straightening up and staring herself in the mirror.

"A sworn enemy," She glared looking at her reflection as she fisted her hands angrily before leaving the washroom. She forgot about the love and let anger and feud took over her.

"It's been a while." She heard a voice saying to her left as she exited from the washroom. She turned to her left and saw Leo leaning against the wall. He straightened up and turned to face her.

"I see you're living well," he said as he came closer to her, keeping one step apart. Anna glared up at him for a sec and walked away without saying a word. But soon she was dragged back forcefully by her hand and was pinned against the wall.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" She angrily snapped and pushed him immediately away from her. "Don't you dare come touch me again," She glared and warned him.

Leo dangerously strolled towards her and stood a few centimetres away from her. "I should have chosen my revenge and should have killed you back then." He stated darkly looking down at her. His words made her angrier but sad at the same time, but she didn't let her weakness show.

"That's your problem!" She snapped and took out his gun from his waistband and point at his chin. "If you dare do this again, I swear I will not think twice to kill you." She warned again dangerously. Leo was surprised to see the changed Anna but he didn't show. She pushed him again and without wasting a second, she walked away along with his gun. Leo simply stood there and stared at her back until she made a turn and disappeared.

Leo and Alesso stayed up all night and watched over Roberto. It was already five in the morning and Roberto was really taking his time to come to his conscious state. Leo stood by the windowpane and stared down at people coming for their duty while Alesso impatiently taps his leg on the floor tiles. He stood up from his place and looked at his brother.

"I need to grab some coffee, do you want some?" he asked and Leo looked over his shoulder and nodded at him.

And as Alesso was about to open the door to go grab some coffee, there was a knock on the door. He creased his brows and glance at Leo before opening the door.

"Good morning, Sir," A lady in a uniform greeted him and came in with a trolley of coffee and breakfast. "Here is the breakfast and coffee, enjoy your meal, Sire." The lady said courtly with a wide smile and placed the breakfast and coffee on the table and left the room at once.

"Wow, didn't know that hospitals here have this kind of service! Not bad!" Alesso said as he amusedly looked at the breakfast.

"Where am I?" Roberto cracked voice caught their attention and snapped towards him. His eyes were finding difficulty in adjusting the light from the recent darkness and closed his eyes tightly.

"Hospital!"

And as he was about to get up from the bed, a searing pain popped out through his veins and he instantly remembers what happened.

"Who was it?" he asked.

"The Boltons!" Leo spat out.

"Fuck! They have tails everywhere!" Roberto cursed out loud. "Tatiana's going psycho for you, brother."

"I bet it's her father's doing, he must have taken the rejection of the engagement as an insult," Alesso said thoughtfully and sighed deeply. "Ah! Prejudice people. People like them should be killed immediately before they create any more troubles."

"No girl can ever replace Anna." Roberto blurted out and bit his tongue. Leo shot him a dangerous glared and trudged towards him.

"Do you want another bullet shot on your left abdomen?" Leo warned him lowly. Roberto gulped in fear and cringed down.

"I'm sorry." He said quietly.

"Leo, the coffee's getting cold." Alesso intervened lively trying to calm the tension between the brothers. Leo sighed deeply and changed his mood immediately. He doesn't like seeing his brother being afraid of him but he can't help but get angry whenever any of his family mentions her name.

"I'm sorry," Leo said softly. "How are you feeling now?"

"I'm fine." He answered. "When are we leaving for home? I can't wait to be pampered by Momma." He said and jested. Leo chuckled at him and rubbed his hand on his brother's hair.

"Rest for a while and we'll discharge you right away." He said.

A soft knocked woke up Anna from her short nap. "Come in!" she said. Layla came in and shook her head at her. "What!"

"You didn't go home." Layla crossed her arms over her chest and said. "Anna, I know you worried too much about your patients but health comes first, if you become sick, who will treat the patient—" She started lecturing her like a mother. "You're still very young, dear; take care of your health first, will you! You hardly sleep these days!"

"I'm really fine and I'm healthy enough to move a mountain," Anna said-jested and smiled at her cheekily.

"You'll never listen! I wish somebody kidnap you and take you on a vacation!" Layla said amusedly. "Oh! I should tell Samuel." She squealed. Anna simply rolled her eyes over and leaned on her chair.

"Speaking of Mr. handsome and I'm here!" A low familiar base voice said from the door. Samuel gave them a cool smirked and strolled in. "Good morning, beautiful ladies."

"Thank god you're here, Samuel. You tell your girl to take care of her health; she might listen to you." Layla said giving Anna a teasing smile to which Anna simply rolled her eyes over. Layla really likes both of them and she shipped them together. She always tells them to start going out but Anna simply ignores her. And also Samuel treats her like her blood sister for he doesn't have any and also she's his best friend's sister. Vernon and Samuel have been the best buddy since they were five. He also knows Anna since she was born to the family.

"Darling! You have to take care of your health," Samuel played along. "If anything happens to you, I'll die." He said dramatically as he clutched on his chest.

"Nobody cares for your life, Sam. You better die then." Anna deadpanned and stood up from her chair. Samuel is the only friend she can roast and insult every now and then.

"Layla, tell her to take back her words, I'm slowly dying here, I can't take it anymore." Samuel acted like he's been heartbroken. Anna simply rolled her eyes and strolled towards him.

"You're so good at acting; you should have become an actor. Why waste your talent being in the mafia?" Anna said sarcastically but with an amused tone.

"I can't, I was born to protect the princess." He said and smiled cheekily.

"I'm no princess, I hate when you and Vernon call me that." Then she turned to Layla, "Layla, how is Roberto? Did he wake up?" she asked.

"Oh yes!" she shrieked. "Actually I was here to inform you about him. But you made me forget It." she blamed her amusedly to which Anna raised an eyebrow at her. "He woke up an hour ago." She informed.

"Good, tell the nurses to do some test on him. I'll be right away and check him on." Anna said and Layla nodded at her and mouthed them bye with a teasing smile before leaving the room. Then Anna turned to Samuel, "And you! What brings you here?"

"I came to see my princess." Anna made a face. "I went to your place but Vernon told me that you slept overwork. You should really stop working overtime. It might really affect your health." He said sincerely and cupped her cheek.

"You all worry too much. I'm totally fine." Anna smiled at him.

"Momma!" she heard a baby boy voice and turned her head towards the door.

"Val!" The little boy came running to her and she lifted him up on her arms. "You brought him here!" Samuel nodded at him.

"He insisted to come and see his Momma. Huh! I can't believe you're already a mother at a very young age." He started going on with his act.

"Don't pretend." She deadpanned. "Val, did you have your breakfast?" she asked and he nodded at her.

"Go to Uncle Sam, Momma have to go and check on a patient." She said and shifted the four-year-old Valentino to Samuel. "I'll see you shortly, dear!" She said and kissed on his cheeks.

"What about me?" Sam teased and forwarded his cheek towards Anna.

"You're not a kid!" Anna chided and slapped softly on his cheek. "Take care of my son!" she said before strolling out of the room. She made her way towards Roberto's cabin. She stood at the door and sighed deeply trying to get herself together.

As Anna entered inside, Leo gave an unimportant glance at her and Alesso simply stared at her. But Roberto was surprised to see her. His mouth opened as he stared at her in wide eyes open but Anna didn't even care to glance him or to any of them. She simply ignored them and checked on the monitors and files.

"Chiudi la bocca," Leo's voice brought back Roberto from his shocked state. He blinked hard twice before darting between his brother and Anna. Then he turned towards Alesso and gave him a confused looked to which Alesso gestured him not to say anything now.

Roberto creased his eyebrows together and turned to see Anna who threw him a quick glance just now and continued ignoring him.

"Anna, it's me, Roberto." He said.

"I know!" She deadpanned.

"You've changed!" He stated quietly.

"People change."

"I guess so." Roberto gave her a sad smile. "But I'm happy to see you after many years." Anna simply glanced at him. "You're—"

"Smettila di parlarle!" Leo interrupted and chided him quietly.

Within these five years of living with her family, she has learnt how to understand and speak Italian.

"Did he have his medicine?" She asked.

"Yes, doc. I gave him some minutes ago." Jess, one of the staff nurses answered.

"Did you take the test on him?"

"Yes, already taken. The result will be out soon."

"Good!" she said and leaned down to check on his wound. The two nurses notice little Valentino entering inside the room to which they giggled silently. Val walked inside and glanced around and as soon as his eyes caught Leo sitting by the couch, he grinned widely and ran towards him. He stood in front of him and took his large hand into his small one.

"Hey, kid what's your name?" Alesso asked softly with a warm smile. His voice caught Anna's attention making her snapped her head towards that direction.

"Val!"

Little Val turned to face Anna and gave her a cute grin, "Momma,"

"Momma!" Roberto and Alesso exclaimed in unison while Leo was wide eyes open in shock.
