Chapter 18: The Wedding

Joshua entered one of the beach bars and ordered a drink. And soon the bartender served him with the drink. He sighed deeply before gulping down his drink in one shot.

"Two serve of cocktails, please,"

Vernon and Samuel joined him and sat on either side of him.

"How's Tessa?" Joshua asked.

"She's fine now." Vernon answered and looked at his brother, "What did you say to her?" he asked in an accusation tone. "You made her cry. I don't like seeing our little sister crying. It hurts me."

"Do you think I enjoy seeing her cry?" Joshua said bitterly. "I need to stop her before she does something stupid. If she breaks The Absolute, this will be the downfall of our family, her life will be at risk and we won't be able to do anything." He gritted out as he fisted his hand on the countertop. "I will never let that happen."

"Neither will I," Vernon interjected. "Tessa, she's very sensitive. She gets hurt when we raise our tone towards her. She's not used to it. We have to be compassionate and understanding to her." He said quietly before sipping on his drink. "Don't ever raise your voice to her?" Vernon warned with a tad of amusement in his voice.

"If the situation compels, I have to do so." Joshua sighed solemnly.

"Tessa will never let that situation happen," Vernon stated feeling assured.

"I hope so," Joshua gave his brother a warm smile.

"Here they come," Samuel voiced gesturing them towards the entrance of the bar. Joshua and Vernon turned their heads towards the entrance and saw Leo and his brothers making their way towards the counter, towards them. And soon they came face to face, glaring at each other.

"The world is small," Joshua said as he sarcastically mocked around the air.

"No, this is fate," Leo smirked.

"Fate of death," Joshua retorted and scoffed bitterly. Leo threw a mockery chuckled and glanced at his brothers.

"Death is inevitable, we cannot escape it. But we can stop the cause of it." Leo said looking dead serious. "Let's live peacefully while we still can."

"I know exactly what you're trying to do, Leonardo." Vernon walked to his front and gave him a mocking smile. "It is not as easy as you think. You need to try harder." He added.

"C'mon, Joshua, let's get out of here before this place becomes a blood-zone," Vernon said to Joshua but his eyes were fixed at Leo. Joshua gave one last glare at Leo and his brothers before storming out of the bar and Samuel followed him behind.

"It's been two years and you didn't tell to any of your family members," Leo said looking at Vernon. Vernon looked at him through his lashes and narrowed his eyes at him. "I know that you have discovered the whereabouts of Rebecca and his son two years ago."

"Same goes for you; you are keeping her hidden from her family members. As a Don, don't you think you should abide by the rule, the Absolute rule?" Vernon jerked an eyebrow at him and mocked.

"Rules can be broken if it doesn't cost lives," Leo stated.

"But the Absolute rule is not just a rule; it is named Absolute for a reason." Vernon retorted.

"That's history, a history that went wrong and ruled wrong," Leo interjected. "Whatever it is, you and I both know that nothing good will happen if Rebecca and her son come to open, don't you think?" he continued.

"I don't have a say but a word of advice, if Tessa's life comes at risk because of you, I'll kill you with my own hand," Vernon warned with a serious tone. "Bouna notte," he smirked at Leo and glanced at his brothers before strolling out of the bar.

It was finally the wedding day. People in charge were busy doing the chores and the guests and invitees were busy coming and gathering at the wedding arena.

"How do I look?" Gideon asked as he stood in front of Leo and Kazimir in his wedding suit.

"Casanova," Kazimir joked and laughed at him.

"You look fantastic," Leo said with a sincere smile.

"I can't wait to see her in white," Gideon said and stared at nothingness with sparkling eyes.

"You're so emotional, buddy." Kazimir jested. "I'm expecting to see some waterfall today." He jabbed on Leo's bicep and joked.

"Me too," Leo laughed. "Get ready to capture that, Kazi."

"I'm all ready," Kazimir said animatedly and gestured at the DSLR that was hung over his neck.

"It's rare to see the Russian Don taking pictures for others." Gideon teased and laughed at him.

"You should be honoured," Kazimir interjected dulcetly.

"My pleasure," Gideon grinned boyishly.

"Okay now buddy, let's go. It's time."

They made their way to the stage where everyone was gathered for the ceremony. They stood in the front and face the crowd and soon the priest also went up at the front and joined them.

Leo looked towards the Groom's side and saw his mother and his brothers who were giving him similar smiles to which he smiled them back. Then he turned towards the Bride's side and his eyes immediately landed on Valentino who was already looking at him with a huge grin playing on his tiny face. He couldn't resist the adorable kid and grinned back at him. Besides Val were Vernon and Joshua who were ignoring to meet eyes at him.

All eyes were at the entrance when two little flower girls and cute little ring boy appeared and the band started to play the soft music in the background. The little kids walked down the aisle with rings and Boucher. The people squealed silently admiring the adorable kids as they made their way at the front.

Once the kids reach the front, Maria appeared at the entrance along with her dad and behind her were Joanna and Emma as bridesmaids. The musical piece changes as Maria walked slowly through the aisle along with her dad and bridesmaids. Gideon was filled with contentment upon seeing her and he was trying his best not to fall a tear of happiness.

"I can't see Anna among the bridesmaids," Leo whispered and said to Kazimir.

"Because she is there," Kazimir said and gestured to his right towards the band.

Wise men say, only fools rush in but I can't help falling in love with you.....

Leo stared in amazement as Anna continued to sing.

"She has a good voice." Kazimir complimented looking at Anna.

"Mio Coure," Leo whispered softly feeling contend.

Maria walked up accord to the muse of the beautiful song with a bright smile playing on her lips and her eyes never straying away from her soon to be husband, Gideon.

So take my hand take my whole life too, for I can't help falling in love with you. Anna was at the end of the song while Maria was a step away from Gideon. Anna looked at her best friend with a wide smile playing on her lips and then she turned to eyes ahead and saw Leo staring at her. Her smiles became double as she stared back to the love of her life.

Oh, for I can't help falling in love with you, she sang the last muse staring tenderly at Leo.

Once the song ended, Anna went to join the bridesmaids' position and the priest starts the matrimony. Soon both the couple shared their vows and exchanged their 'I do'.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." The priest declared and soon Gideon pulled Maria closer to him and kissed her passionately. Cheering and applaud were filled around immediately.

The formal section was over and everyone was giving well wishes to the newly married couple.

"Momma, I want to marry too," Val said innocently looking up at Anna. Anna couldn't help but laugh at her adorable son.

"You have a long way to go for that, nephew." Vernon chuckled heartily and lifted Val on his arms. "And also you need to get a girl too."

"Momma is a girl. I will marry my Momma." Val grinned widely looking at Anna. "Will you marry me, Momma?"

"Of course, my dear," Anna smiled and kissed both his cheeks.

"Oh no, my competitor is very tough. How will I win over you?" Samuel jested as he gently pinched the bridge of Val's nose.

"Momma agreed to marry me; you don't stand a chance, Uncle Sam." Val mocked at him with a wide grin playing on his face.

"I accept and I surrender." Samuel animatedly raised his both hands in surrender.

"Anna," They all turned their head towards the familiar voice.

"What do you want, Severina?" Joshua asked curtly and came front, shielding Anna from her.

"Please," Severina scoffed looking at Joshua's act. "I wanted to see Anna before leaving." She said.

"You're leaving already." Anna stepped forward and said. Joshua tried to stop her but Anna shoved him gently.

"Yes, how are you? I miss you so much, Anna." Severina cupped her cheek and said softly.

"I'm fine, Severina," Anna answered and smiled at her.

"I'm glad that you're doing fine," Severina said.

"Momma, who is she?" Val asked looking at Severina.

"Momma!" Severina creased her brows and looked at Val then at Anna. "You're married already, Anna!"

Anna kept silent for a while and was about to say something but Leo's voice interrupted her.

"Momma," Leo appeared behind and gave a glance at her before giving a straight face at her brothers.

"Papa," Val grinned happily upon seeing Leo and stretched his both arms to reach for him. Severina grew two head in confusion and darted between Anna and Leo. Val forced himself down and escape from Vernon's hold. He ran immediately towards Leo and hugged him tightly on his thighs. Leo smiled at him and lifted him up on his arms.

"Valentino, come back here," Joshua called him in a stoic expression.

"No," Val whined and wrapped his arms tightly around Leo's neck.

"You're scaring him, Joshua." Leo said and then turned towards Val, "Val, I'll come and see you later. Go to Momma." He said softly and put him down.

"Promise me you'll come and see me later, Papa," Val said looking up at him.

"I will."

Val smiled at him before making his way towards Anna.

"Momma, the car is waiting for you. Let's go." Leo said to Severina.

"Take care of yourself, dear. Goodbye." Severina placed a soft kiss on her forehead and glance at her brothers before turning on her heels. Leo stared at her with a longing look before walking away from the place.

Joshua walked forward and bent down in front of Val. He let out a deep breath before speaking, "Val, how many times do I have to tell you that he is not your Papa?" he said softly. Val pouted and looked down on the floor silently. Then he straightened up from his position and glanced at Anna before walking away without a word.

"What happened to him?" Samuel creased his eyebrow and asked, staring at Joshua's back.

"Tessa, go and stay with Maria, she might need you," Vernon said softly and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "Don't worry about Joshua. I'll look for him," he said and left the place as well.

"Sam, can you please look after Val? I got some work." Anna said hurriedly and followed Vernon.

"But where to and what work?" Samuel asked behind her back but didn't receive an answered. Then he curved down and lifted Val on his arms.

"Alright buddy; it's you and me now. Let's go grab some cakes,"

Vernon strolled inside Joshua's hotel room and found him standing by the window, his back facing him.

"There's no way convincing our little sister to stay away from De Luca, is there?" Joshua asked looking over his shoulder.

"I don't know, they love each other so much," Vernon said and settled on the couch.

Joshua scoffed a laughed and turned to face Vernon. "I know and this is where the problem lies. Because this love will kill her, kill them both."

"You are the Don, Joshua. Is there any chance you can execute The Absolute?" Vernon asked thoughtfully.

"I don't have the power to do that," Joshua said quietly. Then he looked at Vernon suspiciously and narrowed his eyes at him. "Why do you want to put an end to The Absolute? You approved their love?"

"You might not see her suffering but I did. I just want to see her happy." Vernon said quietly.

"By risking her life," Joshua interjected.

"No, by putting an end to this feud,"

"And how will you do that?"

"I don't know—maybe making allies with De Luca!"

"That's breaking The Absolute and bringing our own downfall."

"That's why I need you to help me. Help me find a way to end The Absolute without shading any blood." Vernon urged.

"I'm not helping. I don't care about the Absolute. We are never making allies with our enemy. Did you forget already, Vernon? That family killed our parents and the person who murdered them, the same person who killed Aunt Anita is still alive." Joshua growled.

"Whole our life, we live for revenge, killing and shedding blood. Honestly, Joshua, I'm tired of this all and I'm tired of making enemies and hating people." Vernon said quietly staring at his intertwined hands resting in his front. Silence fell inside the room for some seconds before Joshua decided to speak up.

"The Absolute—have to be agreed from both the party. Only if the broken history is amended then the Absolute can be put to an end." Joshua said. "Their love is just some years older to defeat the long broken history of a generation."

"Love can do anything," Vernon said.

"Says the person who has never been in love," Joshua rolled his eyes over and mocked at him. Vernon simply chuckled at him.

"But even if the Absolute is exempted, it will be unfair for those who were killed because of it. We will be creating more enemies, even between families." Joshua said solemnly. "In one way, it's better to keep as it is right now."

"I promised to help her," Vernon said.

"If anything happens to her, I will never forgive you, Vernon," Joshua warned him but softly.

"What do you think about Leonardo? If we have met under different circumstances, we would've been the best buddy, don't you think?" Vernon said feeling amused.

"You like him already!" Joshua raised an eyebrow at him.

"I don't like him or hate him. But I have to admit, he is the lion of the mafia world." Vernon said lazily but with a little bit of admiration.

"I know. A very dangerous but tamed lion." Joshua stated unsmilingly. Then he turned back and went on staring the window. After some seconds of silence, he looked over his shoulder and said, "Try to amend the broken history and I'll see what I can do."

"I knew you will agree to help us," Vernon said and grinned animatedly looking at his brother.

"Don't get excited, if things go wrong, I'm sorry but I have to do what I have to do even if Tessa hate me for the rest of her life," Joshua said solemnly and right then his phone started ringing up. He fetched his phone from his pocket and stared at the screen. It was an unknown number.

"Hello," he said over the phone. As he listened over the phone, his face turned stone serious and anger washed over him. The line went dead and he angrily snapped and looked at Vernon.

"They got Tessa,"
