Dream
"... What do you think Ninth?" A woman's voice said.
Izuku turned around, peering through the strange green fog at a group of figures.
"A-All Might?" He asked.
The huge shadow stared blankly. Izuku looked over at the woman stood at All Might's side.
"Toshinori isn't.. all here. We don't know why, but his vestige never entered the quirk fully once he passed away. He was the only quirkless user.. but we aren't sure if that's the reason.." she explained.
"So you're one of the past users?" He asked.
She nodded, a similarly bright smile to All Might's once reassuring grin gracing her features.
"I am the seventh, Nana Shimura. All Might, or Toshinori Yagi, is the eighth. You, Izuku Midoriya, are the ninth."
Izuku bowed politely.
"It is an honour to meet you."
A sickly looking man with shaggy white hair stepped forwards to stand beside All Might's shade and Nana.
"We have appeared in your dreams because of a troubling event. My brother, All for One, still lives." He said.
Izuku started in shock. Brother? So did that mean this man was the first wielder?
The man smiled.
"Yes, I am the first. We have come to warn you that my brother can be tricky. Manipulative. Even now, heroes and villains alike are searching for a person with two quirks, one of which they believe is a strength enhancer. This gives us an advantage. Unfortunately, we have long crossed the singularity. Be careful, as even I don't know what's going on within One for All. All I can say for sure, is that you'll be the most powerful of all of us."
Izuku snapped awake, floating a meter above his matress.
Izuku wasted no time in having breakfast, going to school and racing through his work.
Bakuvo probably noticed something was off with his main victim, but Izuku raced home and changed into his workout clothes the moment the bell rang.
The greenette hopped over the weeds in his way, reaching the clearing that was his main training area.
Izuku stood in the centre, with his eyes closed. He took a deep breath, and pulled on the new feeling that rested just beside One for All in his mind.
He felt his feet leave the ground, and Izuku looked down to find he was several meters in the air.
The greenette concentrated, and floated a little to the left.
He thought again, and floated to the right.
From that day forwards, every day for 4 months Izuku trained 'Float'. Nana appeared in his dreamscape again and told him about her original quirk. She gave him tips on flight, turning and landing.
Izuku was excited to find out what quirk he would discover next.
It was in class when a spike of.. something warned Izuku. It was instinctual, like he knew this feeling was a warning.
Izuku tilted his head to the left, letting an explosion barely clip his ear, singing his hair. A growl came from behind him.
Bakugo was standing there, a snarl on his face.
"Why are you dodging? You think you're better than me? Are you looking down on me Deku?" He asked.
Izuku sighed to himself.
*Spidey sense, from that old comic. That's going to be fun with Bakugo around.*
"Don't ignore me!" The blonde screeched, letting loose another blast, which was easily dodged by Izuku.
*Maybe this quirk won't be so bad.*
Izuku walked home, not even acknowledging the bomb behind him, dodging every quirked blast, burn and punch.
Izuku met the fourth user in his dreamscape.
The quirk's real name was 'Danger Sense'. It didn't really need any training, it was a passive quirk, and would alert him to any and all dangers around him. The feeling would get stronger if the danger was much bigger. Izuku could turn it off if he wanted, whenever the constant warnings got tiresome.
Izuku changed when he finished his homework and headed to the forest. He used float to traverse the thick foliage and reach the clearing, where he just did some basic muscle training to increase his use of One for All. The First user had theorised that Izuku could use around 50 percent of One for All, which was much more than Izuku had been using to train.
Through his dreams, Izuku learned about the history of All for One and One for All. He got tips on how to control his new powers, and was taught fighting techniques by the First. Most martial arts had died out after the advent of quirks. Izuku learned styles and techniques that hadn't been used for several hundred years.
It was 10 months until the entrance exam when Izuku was within the dreamscape for the last time.
"You have trained well Ninth. We are all proud to have you as our successor. You are the accumulation of the strength of every person here, and I have no doubt you will be an incredible hero. I'm afraid this is farewell for now. We will try to enter your dreams to guide you, should you need it, but you won't be needing us too soon. Good luck on your exams, we will be watching." The First said.
Izuku's predecessors faded away one by one, each waving and grinning at him, calling out words of encouragement. All Might's shade was the last to go, half waving goodbye.
Izuku smiled at his predecessor, waving happily.
"Good luck Hero!" Seven voices said as one.
There was one voice that Izuku wanted to hear the most.
But it wasn't there.
