I looked up at the big building, intimidated by the scale. Ally grabbed my arm and swiveled me around to face the two girls she'd indicated earlier, and two boys who I guess we're the ones she's mentioned.

"June is our sarcastic nerd, and we need her for scaring off anyone who comes to bug us."

June was shorter than average height, I thought, and she had brown hair braided into a fancy something on her head. She had purple speckled glasses, and a dimple that popped out as she smiled at me.

"Lola has a Korean dad who makes the most amazing food and an Australian mum. She's the prettiest of us all, and we rely on her for comfort when it's needed."

Lola, the girl who gave her seat to me in the bus, had long, straight black hair, and she pouted as she smacked Ally on the arm for saying that.

"Jonty is an bisexual idiot who dates another idiot, and he's always trying to get us to include her in our group, but we won't do it because she's evil."

Jonty had brown hair that has been buzz-cut short, and he grinned at me like an idiot.

"They just can't appreciate normal people," he informed me.

June flicked him on the temple. "You just don't appreciate US, that's what's wrong. If you wanna hang out with normal people, you can leave cause you're not gonna find them here."

"Yeah, well, I might just do that,"Jonty said, and he feigned walking off.

Ally jumped on his back, and June grabbed his arm. Lola sighed and started pulling Ally off him.

"They're always like this," said a husky voice in my ear, making me jump.

I turned to see the last guy.

"I'm Tennyson," he said, holding out his hand.

I took it and stared at him. GOD, he was hot. Blond bangs with lighter highlights hung jagged over his blue eyes. His hand was warm and firm, and his smile was crooked and dazzling.

"HEY you two!"Ally called, making me jump. "Let go of her hand Tennyson, can't you see the poor thing finds you disgusting?"

Tennyson smirked and draped an arm along my shoulders. "Nah, I reckon she's enjoying it, Ally!"

I decided to play along. "You're brother is gorgeous, Ally!" I leaned my head on his shoulder. Okay, maybe it wasn't totally acting.

Ally rolled her eyes. "All the girls think that but I can't see it in the slightest." She turned away to follow the others up the stairs.

I felt Tennyson's laugh rumble against my chest. "I like you, Darcy,"he said.

I blushed.

"I hope you weren't put off by the craziness of the others?"he asked.

I laughed. "No, I'm used to it, my friends at home do that all the time..." I trailed off. I wasn't ready to think about what I'd left behind.

"Home?" Tennyson raised an eyebrow.

"Doesn't matter," I muttered.

"Okay." He said.

I smiled gratefully at him, glad he hadn't pursued the topic further.

He smiled back softly, his forehead slightly crinkled as if he were thinking.

"COME ON YOU TWO!" Ally yelled, breaking the moment again.

Tennyson rolled his eyes but grinned. "Shall we?" He said, holding out his arm in a very gentlemanly manner.

I giggled and slipped my arm through his. "We shall!"

As we ascended the steps together I thought that it definitely won't be as bad as I thought it would. Not with Ally...and Tennyson!
