The sun had rose and fallen again three times before Casey arose from his slumber. Those days were utter hell for Alec who remained by his bedside day and night holding his hand, pleading for him to wake. Life still went on around him, it just went on without Alec and Casey. Lydia continued to plan the wedding which was supposed to happen in a matter of days, but Alec didn't know if he could go through it. Because it would mean losing Casey and this scare had made him realise that not having him in his life would be no life at all.
Never seeing him smile again would kill him. To never hear his laugh, or look into those bright eyes again would wipe out any happiness within him. Because Casey was his happiness, he was his whole damn life.
Of course throughout those days, chaos had erupted within. Michael Wayland turned out to be Valentine, telling Jace and Clary how they were brother and sister. After this discovery things became tense, and everyone agreed that it was better to not immediately tell Casey that his twin was alive and that he had been spending time with him for months. The information would crush him and Alec couldn't bare to see him break down as he had last time he spoke of Jonathan.
Alec knew how guilty he would feel and both Clary and Jace had agreed. But this discovery had not only led to things going down south for Clary and Jace, but had also led to Jace trying to deal with his own dose of guilt. He felt responsible for the loss that Casey experienced and the grief he carried around with him everyday.
Alec recalled how Jace confessed how he wished he could remember his years with Casey as he looked down at the raven haired beauty. Alec smiled softly, realising that he looked like a male version of sleeping beauty from the mundane fairytale. As if he were merely waiting for his prince charming to wake him up with a single kiss.
But Casey's lips were no longer Alec's to kiss. His hands were no longer his to hold, his laugh no longer his to hear. All he wanted was for him to wake up. His eyes filled with tears as he looked down at him at his raven lashes that brushed his ivory skin and his onyx hair that spilled onto the pillow that his head lay upon. His pink, cupids bow shaped lips were no longer shappire and his skin was warm once more.
"Wake up Casey." He begged his unconscious body. "We can run away from all of this. I'll leave Lydia, the Institute - all of it. I'd give up everything just to see your smile again."

A soft groan slipped through Casey's lips as a sharp spasm of pain shot through his head. His eyelids fluttered and slowly he opened his eyes, squinting as the bright lights attacked his vision. His body felt stiff and his throat felt like sandpaper.
He felt pressure on his hand, and looked over to find Alec sprawled across the chair asleep, his calloused hand intertwined with his. His long legs hung over the edge of his chair and his dark unbrushed hair fell into his eyes.
"Alec." He whispered softly and instantly Alec's eyes snapped open. He grinned and leaped up and impulsively kissed Casey with so much passion he felt light headed. He recoiled, realising what he had done, his eyes wide.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that." He apologised, but not really meaning it. Casey smiled softly, shaking his head. "It's fine. I'm glad you did." He admitted and Alec blushed.
"What do you remember?" He questioned and Casey shifted uncomfortably, diverting his eyes.
"All of it. But I - I really don't think I'm emotionally ready to talk about it. Is that okay?" Casey mumbled, flashes of his father asking him to forgive him, and his brother hugging him filling his mind.
Alec nodded immediately, just happy that Casey was okay. "That's fine. Whenever you're ready to talk we can talk. Everyone has been so worried. I'll go get them -"
"No." Casey interupted quickly, grabbing Alec's hand again as he stood. Alec turned round to face him and saw his pleading expression. "Please, will you just stay with me?"
"As long as you want me Casey, I will stay."
Casey moved over on the bed and Alec climbed in beside him, wrapping his arm around his waist as Casey rested his head on his chest. He listened to his heartbeat as his eyes began to shut. Alec succumbed to the fatigue he had been attempting to keep at bay and the two fell asleep side by side.
