Casey looked at himself in the mirror and felt so much sorrow that he felt as though he would explode. He knew that technically he should be happy, he was going to his father's party and finally had Alec without the Clave or anyone else bothering them. They were happy and human and it was almost as though Alec's dream of the two of them running away had come true. But the reason that Casey felt this sorrow, the reason that he couldn't feel truly happy was because that this was not his world.

In his world he was a Shadowhunter, without a father and the love of his life was marrying another woman to please his parents. It just added to how much Casey wanted to stay in this universe. Granted, he didn't have Jonathan, but he hadn't been by his side since he was three years old and so the pain was not something new.

Losing Raphael was a big thing though. The raven haired boy had become incredibly close with the sarcastic and slightly narcissistic vampire, and his only comfort was that in this world he must have been able to live a long and happy, human life.

Casey wore a royal blue just as Alec had requested because he 'wanted their colour schemes to co-inside. It was a beautiful suit and Casey was not aware it was required of him to wear it until Isabelle had barrelled into his house for an hour, babbling about how he was going to be late and that she and Clary had already gotten ready.

Casey ignored the mention of his little sister, just as he had ignored her twelve texts and five phone calls. He knew what Clary was going to tell her, and he didn't want to believe that he had to leave just yet. So Isabelle had jelled the young shadowhunters hair the way she wanted it to be, smiling smugly when it was perfect.

In this universe Isabelle was so different, but Casey loved her neither more nor less than the Isabelle in his own world. For Isabelle Lightwood was a beautiful and kind hearted woman, and Casey was glad that she exsisted.

"I wish I had known that I fell in love with an angel." Alec announced as he entered the room and Casey laughed slightly at the irony of it, for he was indeed half angel.

"I wish that I had known that I fell in love with a man who thinks that cheesy pick up lines are going to work on me." Casey retorted as he walked to him.

"Well what can I say, I'm a sucker for clichés." Alec replied and kissed him softly. Casey couldn't help but grin, as they broke the kiss. Every single day he fell in love with him just that little bit more, and in that moment he knew that no matter what he would always be madly, deeply and truly in love with him.

Casey's eyes were alight as he watched his parents dancing in the middle of the dance floor. He ran to them, and stopped abruptly, grinning. The two stopped dancing and looked at their son, slightly confused.

"Casey baby are you okay?" Jocelyn asked, pushing a loose curl that had somehow managed to fall away from his son face.

"I love you." He announced, taking his mother's hand before turning to his father and taking his too. "I love both of you. Please, never forget that. No matter what you do, I will always love you. You're my parents and we're a family."

"Casey, are you sure you're okay?" Valentine laughed. "We love you too, you know that."

"I know." Casey whispered. "Dad, please just remember that I love you. I will always be your son because no matter what people say I will remember how you were the best father that you could be."

"Aw Casey my little warrior." Valentine laughed and hugged his son tightly, kissing his temple. Casey wrapped his arms around his fathers waist and blinked back tears.

"Now go on, go dance with Alec." He laughed and pointed to the raven haired man who stood in the corner his eyes fixed on the brown eyed beauty that he was totally mesmerised by. Casey laughed and nodded, quickly hugging his parents once again before walking to Alec.

Valentine and Jocelyn watched as the two met in the middle, and Alec took Casey's hands in his own and kissed him hard. Jocelyn wrapped her arm her husbands waist and he did the same to her.

"Our baby is all grown up." Jocelyn whispered.

"And I couldn't be more proud of him if I tried." Valentine replied.

"Casey we need to go now." Clary said breathlessly as she grabbed her brothers arm, pulling him away from the drink stand. He and Alec had finished dancing and he said that he needed to check something with the DJ so Casey said that he would get them both something to drink.

"Clary what the hell?" Casey exclaimed, pulling himself out of the red heads grip.

"Magnus says we need to go now."

"Who the hell is Magnus?" Casey snorted, not recalling having met such a person.

"Casey this isn't funny, Magnus, the warlock who is going to help us get home." Clary said in frustration and Casey had to stifle a laugh.

"I'm not funny? Listen to yourself baby Fray. Warlocks? Honestly, next thing you will be telling me that I fight demons." Casey scoffed.

"You do." Clary shouted, throwing her arms up in the air.

"Okay, that is enough punch for you little lady." Casey laughed, tapping his sisters shoulder as he walked past.

"No Casey -"

"Excuse me everyone can I have your attention please?" Alec's voice came from the microphone on stage.

Curiosity taking over, Casey turned round to see Alec standing on stage looking rather nervous. The crowd gathered together, all eyes on the eldest Lightwood. Clary tried to call out to her brother again, but he got whisked away by the hundreds of guests who were curious as to what the raven haired man had to say.

"So, for any of you who don't know how I am - my name is Alec Lightwood. I'm the one who organised this party and I am also the boyfriend of the hosts eldest son. You're probably wondering why I'm on stage here, and to be honest so am I. I was planning on doing this differently, but a good friend of mine - Simon Lewis told me to just throw myself in the deep end and hope for the best. I'm babbling right now, I tend to do that sometimes but I promise I do have an actual point."

His hazel eyes searched the crowd and when they found Casey's he watched all the nerves rippled out of his body and it seemed as though it was only the two of them in the entire world.

"When I was sixteen I realised that I was in love. Up until then I had these feelings for my best friend that I didn't understand. I didn't know if it was normal to feel the way that I did, but I soon found out that it was perfectly normal and that the feelings were requited. I had fallen in love with the boy that used to wear big rimmed glasses and have hair that fell in his eyes. He may no longer wear glasses, but he still has that hair hair that refuses to be tamed, and to this day I still love Casey Morgenstern." The crowd awed as Alec paused and held his hand out to Casey who stood at the bottom of the stage.

Casey placed his hand in his and he helped him onto the stage. His hazel eyes seemed to stare into the deepest and darkest parts of his soul, and the two took no notice of the hundreds of eyes that were watching them.

"Casey, your favourite fairy tale was always Peter Pan. You and I used to spend so many nights talking about running away to Neverland, and as we grew older I realised that I'm in Neverland when I'm with you, because time freezes and it's only you and I. And if I truly am Peter Pan, well - Peter could never live without his Wendy. And you're my Wendy, Casey." Alec told him and Casey felt as though he could break down and cry at his words.

Alec reached into his suit jacket pocket and pulled out a small suede box and knelt down on one knee. He opened the box to reveal a simple but beautiful engagement ring.

"And I can't live without you Casey, so will you marry me?"

"Yes." Casey whispered as a single tear trickled down his face. Alec stood, glowing as he slid the ring onto his finger. The crowd cheered and Casey wrapped her arms around Alec and kissed him, unable to contain his joy.

The couple turned to face the crowd and Casey grinned from ear to ear as his eyes scanned the crowd. Slowly his smile melted away as his eyes landed on a rather eccentrically dressed man who was shaking his head. And like a tidal wave, everything hit him. That man was Magnus Bane. And then he remembered that he wasn't truly a part of this universe, he wasn't the Casey Morgenstern from this world. He was the Casey from another world, one where Alec would never propose to him.

But he did in this one...

So surely he could stay?
