"These floorboards." Simon said as he shifted from one foot to the other. Casey turned to look at the teenager, wondering how he could notice the smallest of things. There was definitely something different about Simon, and Casey would find out one way or the other. "They sound different in these two spots. Can you hear it? There's something under here."
Simon knelt down and pried the floorboard up, smilingly triumphantly when he found that he had been correct. "Another score for Brooklyn." He smiled.
"Hey out of the way." Alec growled, moving to push Simon.
"Alec." Casey scolded.
"Please." Alec added through gritted teeth.
Simon grinned and waved his arm dramatically, allowing Alec to walk past. "What a jackass" Simon murmured under his breath, only to receive a whack on the back of the head from Casey.
"What was that for?" Simon yelped, rubbing the back of his head. Casey gave the young boy a dirty look but didn't answer, instead turning to the raven haired Lightwood.
Alec rifled underneath the floorboards and Casey knelt beside him. "There's something down here." He confirmed and a moment later he pulled out a brown wooden box with the initials J.C carved into it.
Alec looked at his boyfriend and Casey shook his head, knowing that he wanted to know if they could tell Clary the truth. Nodding, Alec stood and helped Casey up before handing the box to Clary.
"Is this the box you remember?" He asked.
"Yeah." Clary breathed and Casey stared at the box, flashes of his white haired twin coming to mind. "She used to wait until she thought Casey and I were asleep and then take it out."
It was true, as children Casey and Clary would know when their mother planned to take out the box and they would always peek through the crack of the door and witness the tears rolling down their mothers cheeks. Only, neither of them knew at the time that she cried for her lost son just as Casey now cried for his lost brother.
"Let's open it." Simon commented and Clary handed the box to her brother.
"You should be the one to open it Casey." She told her brother and Casey nodded, flipping the latch open. Inside were objects that Casey didn't recognise and he said as much to Alec, Clary and Simon.
A clatter alerted the four and Alec rushed forward. "There's someone here. Get what you need and do not move until I get back. We've been here too long."
"Alec." Casey said softly as he went to leave, causing him to turn back. Upon seeing the worry on the angelic boys face, Alec checked to make sure that Clary and Simon still stood with their back to them before he kissed him lightly. "Casey I'll be fine, but you've got to hurry."
Before Casey could reply Alec was out the door leaving the three of them to grab what they could.
"Clary there's definitely someone here." Casey whispered as he heard another noise.
Moments later Clary yelped as someone grabbed her and roughly snapped handcuffs on her wrists, the sound alerting Casey who whirled round to see his little sister struggling. He went to run to Clary but he only met the same fate.
"Alaric what the hell are you doing?" Casey yelled as another one of the men put handcuffs on Casey and Simon.
Without replying they shoved them out of the building and into a car on the opposite side of the road. Casey spat on the mans face as he wriggled and squirmed.
"Alaric I'm going to cut off your balls and feed them to you." Casey hissed, but there was no reply.

"Yo dickwads I don't give a damn if you want some Chinese, this is not the police station and the only reason you could be arresting me right now is because I'm so hot it's illegal." Casey remarked as they pulled up outside what looked like a beaten down Chinese restaurant.
"Just cooperate and everything will be fine." Alaric said as he stepped out of the car, pulling Casey out along with him.
"You're not a cop." Clary hissed at the man who held Simon in his grip.
"But guess who is, me!" Casey shouted.
- - -
"We just want to talk." The man sitting beside Alaric said, smiling.
"So you always handcuff people you want to talk to?" Simon retorted, raising his cuffed wrists to prove a point.
"Yeah, 'cause I'm not into that kinky shit." Casey snorted.
"I bet this guy has one of the most scariest online profiles." Simon spoke and Casey shrugged.
"Nah, I think he's probably that person that posts twenty million selfies a day." Casey mused.
"Wow, you two are funny." The man scoffed, pointing between the two.
"Look," Alaric spoke. "I know you're afraid of Luke. We can protect you. All you have to do is tell us where the mortal cup is."
"Oh you're shady. So shady. Yep, Mr I'm so shady." Casey shouted, slamming his cuffed fists on the table. "And newsflash sweetheart, we don't have the mortal cup, and we don't know where to find it. But here's an even better question, how do you know about the mortal cup Alaric?" Casey said, leaning into the seat.
"Because a mundane wouldn't know about it - unless you're Simon. But well, that's Simon. So clearly you're leaving something out. You're more than just a cop and you're more than just a mundane. So what are you? A fey? Warlock? Vampire? Werewolf?"
Casey watched as Alaric flinched slightly at the last one and he laughed loudly. "You're a werewolf, that's brilliant. No wonder you're a little bitch."
"Enough." Alaric shouted, silencing Casey but clearly the young nephilim had struck a nerve.
"Playtime is up." The man added and Alaric turned to him. "Theo -"
"Oh you're called Theo? And I'm assuming you're a werewolf too? What is this, teen wolf? Is your second name Raeken? Well, you're no Cody Christian no offence." Casey babbled and Theo raised his hand and a man walked forward. "Oh, another little bitch. Who's a good doggie?" Casey smiled.
Simon was tugged up out of his seat and held by the anonymous man. "Tell us where the cup is or your funny friend dies." Theo spoke and Casey glared at him.
"We don't know where the cup is." Casey seethed.
"Please don't hurt Simon." Clary pleaded, her eyes wide, her red hair wild.
"I'm going to stab you in the neck." Casey growled, unable to bottle up his anger. "Get rid of him." Theo commanded and the man dragged a very distressed Simon away.

Luke rounded the corner, holding Clary in his arms as he dragged Casey by his wrists. They squirmed and kicked at him but his grip was iron tight. As he continued to walk, Alec and Jace appeared in front of them.
"Casey." Alec yelled as he kicked Luke, causing him to fall to the ground. Jace grabbed Clary and Alec grabbed Casey. He hugged him and lightly caressed his wrist that had been bruised from the cuffs . "I'm so so sorry Casey." He apologised.
"Alec, it's fine. Honestly, you did nothing wrong." Casey assured him, skimming his thumb quickly across his cheek when no one was looking.
"You two okay?" Jace asked, slightly breathless, his eyes flickering between the two, concern filling his handsome features.
"Fine." Casey confirmed and Clary nodded in agreement. "We need to find Simon."
"Come on." Jace said and the four of them ran forward, leaving an unconcious Luke.
Alarms blared and smoke filled Casey's nostrils as he caught sight of Simon and Clary. He watched his sister embrace him first and Casey followed suit, the three ignoring the incredibly impatient Jace that stood behind them.
"I hate to break up this reunion." Jace commented and Casey seriously doubted that. "But we've got a bunch of werewolves trying to kill us so maybe we should get going."
"You really have a way with words Jace." Casey remarked.
"Only the best for you." The blonde retorted, winking at the boy.
"The box." Clary exclaimed, ignoring the comments made between Jace and her brother. "It's in my backpack, I think I left it at the loft."
"I've got it." Alec told the redhead. "I didn't screw up everything."
"You didn't screw up anything Alec." Casey corrected, intertwining their hands. Alec saw Jace's eyes drift down to their intertwined hands and Alec panicked, quickly pulling his hand out of Casey's grasp, feeling guilty as he saw the hurt look on his face.
"Let's go." Simon said and ventured forward, only to be stopped by the bombshell that was Isabelle Lightwood.
"Wait." She ordered and everyone froze. "Simon, whatever you do, do not make any fast moves."
Moments later growling filled Casey's ears and he rolled his eyes. "The mean girls are here." He commented and Alec looked at him in confusion.
"Mean girls?" He echoed, a crease forming between his eyebrows.
"It's a mundane movie. The mean girls are bitches, and bitches are female dogs. Werewolves are kinda like dogs - God Alec stop looking at me like that." Casey pouted as he watched Alec attempt to stifle his laugh. "You and I are going to have a mundane movie day and when you watch mean girls you will laugh and understand."
Alec chuckled and drew his bow as the wolves approached and Casey grinned as he unsheathed his blade. "You go Glenn Coco." He whispered and once again confusion swamped Alec like a small child that is unable to comprehend the smallest of things. "When we watch mean girls you'll understand that." He added.
"We're surrounded." Alec commented as he placed an arrow in his quiver, taking a small step in front of Casey to make himself a barrier between him and the wolves, and Casey rolled his eyes at his overprotectiveness. "Everyone stay together."
"Believe me I'm not going anywhere." Simon said nervously.
"Simon shut up." Casey hissed. As the words fell from his mouth the door to the Jade garden opened and a wolf larger than the others sauntered out, growling.
"Everyone get back that's that Alpha leader." Jace shouted.
"S'up Theo." Casey hollered. "Still a little bitch I see."
The Alpha lunged, intending to attack when another wolf jumped in, and began to fight. Casey watched with mild interest, wondering why this wolf was helping.
"He's challenging the alpha." Casey murmered. "He's helping us."
"Or planning on killing us." Simon added. "Again shut up Simon." Casey hissed, his eyes narrow.
Theo emerged in human form, his body lifeless. The other wolf limped out and an emerald haze surrounded him as he formed into a man that Casey knew well.
"You didn't see that coming?" He said to Alec, quoting yet another movie.
"Mundane movie?" He sighed.
"Mundane movie." He confirmed and then giggled slightly. "Maybe mundane movie will be our always."
"That was another one wasn't it?" Alec snorted.
"Yep." Casey smiled. "But seriously, when the hell did Luke become a werewolf?"
The other wolves howled, morphing into their human forms knelt.
"Luke is this the part where you say, I am your Alpha?" Casey giggled and Luke smiled, understanding. The two had spend every Saturday night watching Star Wars, Casey quoting almost every line from each movie. And while Darth Vader never actually said "I am your father", Luke recalled Casey once explaining why the public took that line, made it up per say. The mandala effect he had called it, or something like that. Luke hadn't fully understood, but tin that moment he appreciated the reference. It made him feel relief, Casey had forgiven him, had accepted him. Casey still loved him.
"Stop with the mundane movies Casey." Alec whispered and Casey stuck his tongue out at him.
"I promised your mother that I would protect the two of you." Luke breathed as Casey and Clary approached him. His eyelids fluttered and slowly he slumped to the ground.
"Luke." Casey's roar echoed as he lunged forward and grabbed him just before he fell.
"His wounds are deep." Jace spoke. "Only a warlock can cure an Alpha's bite."
"Magnus." Casey said and Jace nodded.
"That's exactly what we're gonna do." Jace replied and they began to slowly move Luke to Simon's car.
"Alec are you coming?" Casey asked and Alec swallowed.
"This is downworlder business Casey. I have to report back to the institute." He replied softly and Casey nodded.
"Luke isn't a downworlder to me Alec, but it's nice to know where your priorities lie." He said and left without allowing Alec to speak.
Isabelle stood beside her brother who watched his boyfriend leave. "You're stupid." She announced and Alec turned to face her. "You have Casey, a boy who is kind and caring and compassionate and courageous. But still you put the institute and the clave first. You can't marry the law Alec, I think you forget that. You deserve happiness and Casey is yours.
"You need to stop denying yourself that happiness Alec. I'm the only one who knows about you and Casey and I know it's hard and that you're scared, but honestly I think you should just tell mum. You're in love Alec, there's no denying it. And if mum has any ounce of compassion she will set aside thay idiotic pride of hers and love you for yourself as I do."
