"OK, so we'll get to why we are really here" said kakashi looking at his genin squad. "This is the real genin exams, if you can get a bell from me you pass, come at me with the intent to kill"

"But sensei, why are there only two?" Asked Sakura.

"Isn't it obvious, only two if any of you will be passing" said kakashi in a tone that mocked her.

As soon as that was said both sasuke and Sakura jumped away into hiding, leaving naruto and kakashi standing there, both in the same position, both reading books.

"So, you are gonna fight me naruto?" Asked kakashi without looking up from his book.

"Don't be crazy kakashi, you know I can't do that" replied naruto also continuing to read the book.

At the same time, a clone of naruto approached sasuke and Sakura, talking them into using a boy of teamwork.

Back at the clearing a bunch of kunai and shuriken that flew towards kakashi from a bush forced him to jump away, but he still kept reading his book. Then there was a few fire balls from the opposite direction, which again caused kakashi to jump away, then he was engaged in a taijutsu fight with a clone of naruto, while the original was still reading his book, kakashi blocked all the attacks from the clone without even looking away from his book. That was until he heard a voice.

"You know kakashi, it's not good to underestimate opponents, looks like you're going soft" said the original naruto, he was still clutching the book, but his other hand was clutching what seemed to be two bells, the same two that kakashi had hing on his belt.

Then naruto gave one bell to sasuke and the other to Sakura, "I don't need this, I can get stronger without a headband" he said as he calmly walked away book in hand.

"Wait! All of you passed, the lesson was teamwork, there were only two bells, so that it would put you against each other" said kakashi.

Naruto stopped dead in his tracks, and then walked back towards them, meanwhile sasuke and Sakura were jumping around evidently happy for graduating.

"Guys, since we are going to be a team, there's something I need to tell you" said naruto as he put away the icha icha.

"What is it naruto?" Asked kakashi calmly as he put away his own icha icha.

"Remember, what happened to the uchiha clan, and how you all think that I've forgotten. Well I haven't, the fox, he tried, but he couldn't lock away those memories, I've pretended like I can't remember" said naruto.

The air seemed to get thicker, sadness was evident in the mood, everyone except Sakura were looking at the ground, remembering the events of that fateful day.

"I'm sorry" said naruto.

"No problem bro, but we are gonna have to talk tonight" said sasuke.

"Don't forget about your date you idiot" said naruto switching back to a more cheerful tone

"How d'you know about that?" Asked both sasuke and Sakura simultaneously.

"Its easy, you two ain't good at hiding things" said naruto "hey kakashi, you want to pay a visit to an old friend along the way to the meeting?" Asked naruto as he took out his icha icha.

"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Asked kakashi from naruto as he took out his own icha icha.

There was no reply, and there was no need for one, the two of them had met each other long ago, before naruto was adopted, they got close fast, well naruto was close with anyone, he had that friendly aura that attracted people.

While the two were walking they heard shouts coming from in front of them,

"The flames of youth shines brightly in you Lee, you will be a genius among the geniuses" shouted a man.

"Thank you had sensei!" Shouted a voice that seemed a bit hungry than the first.

Kakashi and naruto didn't seem to mind it as they kept walking without even looking up from their books. That was before they were stopped by two dangerous beast, they both wore green spandex with orange leg warmers and arm warmers, both of them had bowl shaped hair and gigantic bushy eyebrows. One, the older one wore a jonin. vest whilst the other wore only the spandex.

"My eternal rival, why not a spar to show my flames of youth, wait, my eternal rival has a youngster, your flames of youth shines brightly rival, Lee, we have found your eternal rival" shouted the older man.

Then both naruto and kakashi looked up as with a uninterested look in their eyes, seeing the two creatures in spandex both masked men asked in unison,

"Hey Gai did you say something?"

"Damn you and your hip ways kakashi and junior" shouted Gai as he deadpanned.

Kakashi and naruto just ignored him as they kept walking towards the hokage tower while reading their books.

After they got to the hokage tower kakashi went in, thinking that naruto would stay out, but the guard, who had thought that maybe it was a clone of kakashi's made no attempt to stop the two as they entered.

The meeting continued, first with the hokage giving a lecture, then the jonin instructors started to claim if their squads had passed or failed. When kakashi's turn came, naruto spoke up,

"Team 7 passed"

All the jonin instructors, and the hokage looked their way in surprise, no one had ever passed kakashi's test, but what baffled them even more was seeing kakashi leaning on the wall as usual, reading his icha icha, but next to him was another kakashi in the same posture, albeit a bit shorter.

"Who are you?" Shouted the hokage as two ANBU dropped in front of naruto with their swords drawn.

"Jeez old man, calm down" said naruto not looking away from his book.

"Naruto?" Asked the hokage puzzled.

Everyone in the room was shocked, the prankster kid? He was now a mini kakashi? When did that happen? Naruto just ignored the looks and the question as he kept reading the book he had got from kakashi, that was until kurenai yanked the books out of naruto's and kakashi's hands.

"Kakashi, what is this? Is this how you train students?" Asked kurenai as she continued to rip apart the two books, which earned a great cry from kakashi and his look alike.

"Noooooo" th shouted as they knelt down, crying over the remains of what used to be their books.

"OK, you are dismissed" said the hokage, causing the jonin instructors to leave the office.

Kakashi and naruto were once again on the road.

"Kakashi, dango?" Asked naruto, receiving a slight nod from the jonin.

Now without their precious books, the two ninja walked towards a well known restaurant, where they ordered dango, and soon to enough a lavender haired kuinochi was sitting next to them.

"Hey boys what's up?" And then seeing the dango set on the table, she got excited, "oooh don't mind if I do" she said as she started stuffing her face with dango.

"You know anko, it's rude o eat other people's food" said naruto calmly.

"Oh, hey brat, what's up, what have you been up-to?" Asked anko completely ignoring the comment, then she saw naruto's look. "Hey, why you dressed up like the old geezer?"

"I'm not old, I'm your age for god's sake" shouted kakashi.

"Oh, nothing, just like the look is all" replied naruto completely ignoring kakashi.

"Come to think of it, you haven't been around the grounds lately" said anko in a thinking pose.

"Yeah, didn't have the time, I'll come" replied naruto. "So, iruka ask you out yet?"

"Nah, he just started going out with another girl"

"Damn, I swear that guy is blind, I mean who would give up you"

"Aaaw kid are ya flirting with me?"

"What if I was"

"Then you have to try harder"

"And what if I took out a kunai and cut your cheek?"

"Well, if you did that, then someone's getting lucky tonight, if you were a bit older, you would get lucky"

"Haha, just kidding, so see you around?"

"Of course kiddo"

With that naruto left, he walked towards the hokage statues, and climbed it, reaching the top, he used chakra to make him stick onto the fourth hokage's forehead. (Kinda like the tree climbing exercise but with the whole body) then he just layer there, remembering things.

"Hey kit, you know, this ain't good for you, you gotta vent" came the voice of kurama from his mind.

'You know, I can't, I just, don't know how' thought naruto.

"Just cause you don't know how to grieve didn't mean you need to hide behind a mask" said the kyuubi,

The kyuubi, kurama and naruto had grown more and more friendly in the last couple of years, especially with all the suffering that naruto had gone through.

Naruto just mentally sighed and closed his eyes. Closing off himself from all his memories, trying to forget all that had happened in his life, the pain, the love, the sadness, happiness, everything. But he unconsciously touched his pendant, it was a head of a fox, with nine tails coming from it, teni had given it to him, on that night, once again his memories went to that fateful night, he could almost see it, the blood, splattered on the walls, teni and his adoptive parents lying on the ground, lifeless, Itachi's cold glare,

'I will have revenge, even if it takes a lifetime' naruto promised himself in his heart.

Kurama just shook his head in disappointment, the kid, he had so much potential, but by being clouded by revenge, he would not get to his goal.
