Chapter 14: green envy

Raven let herself lay on her bed in self-pitying anguish for several minutes. She didn't keep track, as she let herself dissociate from the world around her, but after awhile another knock came on the metal door to her bedroom. It wasn't Beast Boy's--she could still hear the water running from his shower.

"Go away, I'm self-isolating." She yelled at her intruder.

"Eff that, we have a party to get ready for. Now let me in!" Jinx replied, kicking the door with her boot. Raven unlocked the door with her magic so she wouldn't have to move from her spot on the bed. The clothes had formed around her body and it was finally starting to feel comfortable. Jinx looked at her friend's pathetic position. "Okay, you were fine an hour ago. What happened?" Raven released a pathetic groan as Jinx joined her on the bed.

"Just Beast Boy. He's so frustrating." She complained. "We had this weird fight. Almost like a couple would have."

"Ah, but if I remember right, you're not a couple." Jinx teased, hoping to earn a smile from her friend. But Raven just rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, somehow I think that's part of the issue." She huffed. "I don't know. He just got really upset talking about tonight for no reason."

"Okay, walk me through it. What happened?" She said, adjusting the clothes and pillows on her side of the bed to make herself more comfortable.

"I asked him to meet so we could talk about what the plan was tonight. It's our first big Titan event since we started this and I didn't know what the expectation was. Am I supposed to wait up for him? Or is this an opportunity to meet new people and try to find something more meaningful than our little pact? I tried to ask him what he wanted to do and he just got really upset. He said if I want to meet people and I find someone then, great! And then he stormed off to take a shower." Raven summarized. Jinx thought for a moment.

"I'm no Beast Boy expert, so I can only guess. But, to me, it sounds like he's feeling a little insecure about your agreement ending. Change is scary and your little fling has been a constant for him. And for you too. I think he's worried you'll find someone and he won't."

"I never said what we are doing would end. I mean eventually, it probably will. But I never meant tonight. I don't even know if I want to meet people tonight. Honestly, I feel like staying here and disassociating a little longer."

"Okay, well that's not a very healthy coping mechanism so I'm not going to let you do that. But, if you come down to the party with me, I promise we can make it a girls night. No boys, no flirting. Unless you want to." Jinx promised. Sighing, Raven agreed. With Jinx by her side, she supposed she could stand a couple hours with her friends.

"And you're wearing the bodysuit. If Beast Boy is going to be salty, at least give him something to miss. One look at you in that outfit and he'll be green with envy." Jinx laughed. "Get it? 'Cuz his skin is green." Raven rolled her eyes at the lame joke.

But Jinx did have a point. Making him a little jealous could be fun... and Cyborg had gone all out for dinner. She should at least go for a little bit, right?

》》《《

Raven adjusted the bodysuit for the n'th time, making sure the lace covered as much as it possibly could. It was a losing battle though. She had paired the bodysuit with black high-rise jeans that had rips at the knees and her classic heeled lace-up boots. And, succumbing to her self-consciousness, she grabbed a gray, knee length sweater that was soft, comfy and still felt stylish.

She couldn't be bothered to try to style her hair after her shower, so she spritzed it generously with a texturizing spray and scrunched the purple strands until they were coaxed into soft waves. With a touch of mascara and dark plum colored lipstick, she figured she was ready enough.

Even with the minimal amount of effort put into her look, Raven was late to the party. Everyone had gathered on the rooftop, waiting for Cyborg to open the buffet and sipping on drinks as they chatted. Spotting Jinx and Starfire by the make shift bar Cyborg had put up for the event, she quickly slipped over to join them. Kid was there too, currently playing bartender. "Hey, Raven! Wha'cha drinking?" He greeted, as the girls also acknowledged her presence.

"Shots!" Jinx demanded on her friend's behalf. "She needs shots." Raven rolled her eyes but didn't disagree. She figured a shot with her two close friends could be a good start to the night. So, Kid started to make three basic "Chuck Norris" shots for the girls, and a fourth for himself, of course. They clinked their plastic shot glasses together before downing the cherry alcohol and energy drink mixture.

"Another!" Star begged, licking the tasty mixture from her lips. Jinx agreed and Kid set to work on making another round in their cups. "Oh! Raven, your outfit is so cute tonight!" She added, looking Raven over with approval. She was wearing another... questionable outfit: a gold sequined tank top that had a mesh front but thankfully a champagne colored material beneath it, paired with bright purple faux-leather leggings and of course a pair of heels. Her vibrant reddish-pink hair was curled and swept up into a ponytail with a few pieces pulled out to frame her face. The outfit was very much in character for her and even Raven could admit that she looked good in it.

"Thanks, Star. Jinx actually helped pick it out. You look beautiful too." Raven returned the compliment.

"All you girls are beautiful and I'm here to make sure you also get drunk." Kid added, passing out the next round of shots with a smile. He was clearly taking his role of bartender seriously.

Someone approached them from behind. "Hey, can I get in on this?" It was Beast Boy and Raven resisted the urge to turn around. Of course, Kid agreed and poured out two more shots because if Beast Boy was getting one, he deserved one too. And of course, the green nuisance was incapable of reading a room and sandwiched himself between Jinx and Raven, much to her displeasure. She knew she'd have to see him eventually but she had hoped to be a little less sober and a little more confident--preferably with someone more exciting than Kid and her girl friends.

But she stuffed her feelings (and her pride) and raised her shot glass up with his before slamming it back quickly. The sweet cherry liquor had no sting, which was kind of disappointing. Still Beast Boy smiled at her with that stupid glint in his eyes that he always seemed to have, as if they hadn't just been arguing a couple hours ago.

"You look good." He said as the others were preoccupied with making their drink to have with dinner (Jinx) or leaving to find their boyfriend because they already had a drink (Star). His eyes hungrily roamed the generous amount of cleavage left revealed by the bodysuit, but while he might be quick to forgive and forget, she was determined to make him suffer.

"Thanks, I've decided to finally talk to Aqualad tonight." She stated proudly. And while it was true, she was also hoping the thought would grind his gears a bit.

"Oh, you didn't hear? Aqualad can't come. He got called on a mission." Beast Boy explained, not sounding sorry at all. But Raven didn't miss a beat as she shrugged up her shoulders.

"Well, I'm sure there'll be other options here. Maybe Bee has a nice friend for you too." She said, patting his shoulder.

"Yeah, maybe." He nodded, thinking. Raven slipped past him to grab a canned Mike's hard lemonade. Beast Boy came up behind her to grab a beer. But luckily he left after that, leaving Raven to enjoy dinner with Jinx and Kid. And thankfully her two friends were forced to keep their PDA to a minimum, being surrounded by their teammates. Plus Kid was generous with his drinks which worked out great for Raven.

》》《《

As the sun was setting, the party started heating up. Additional friends and Titans had been arriving throughout the night. Beast Boy stood by the bar, a half-finished drink in his hand, as he looked across the rooftop to the different groups of friends mingling about. His eyes landed on Raven and her friends for perhaps a moment too long. He watched curiously as Karen fingered the necklace around Raven's neck, whispering a compliment about it, to which Jinx had something to say in response, that made the girls all giggle. He wondered what was said, as he admired the way Raven's face lit up from the exchange.

"Did I catch you zoning out or scoping out some prospects?" Cyborg interrupted Beast Boy's thoughts, knocking against his best friend's shoulder as he followed his gaze to the group of girls sat around the firepit. Beast Boy laughed off having been caught.

"Hey, Cy." He greeted. He noticed his empty glass. "Need a refill?" Cy nodded. "Jack?" Cy nodded again. Beast Boy turned away from the girls to grab the bottle of Jack and pour a glass for them both.

"So, Raven looks nice tonight." Cyborg prodded, watching his friend carefully. Beast Boy weighed his response just as carefully.

"Yeah, I guess. I mean all the girls really went all out."

"Right," Cyborg nodded. "But Raven. She's really coming out of her shell lately." Beast Boy shrugged, as he passed a fresh glass back to his friend.

"Sure, I guess. She's been hanging out with Jinx a lot."

"And you." Cyborg added coyly, taking a sip of his drink. "You've been spending a lot of time together too." Beast Boy shook his head, letting out a low chuckle. He wasn't sure what Cyborg thought he knew, but it probably wasn't good.

"Okay, yeah we hang out on the weekends when you guys are gone." He shrugged. "What about it?"

"C'mon B, you've been crushin' on her since you realized you like girls." Cyborg teased. Beast Boy rolled his eyes, even though it was kind of true. He'd had a crush on Raven since they first met and of course Cyborg knew that. But they weren't kids anymore and he was past stupid crushes - right?

"What are you trying to say, Cy?"

"I think you still like her." He smiled.

"Nah." Beast Boy laughed.

"I see the way you look at her. You should go talk to her." Cy suggested.

"No, nah. I don't think she wants to talk to me." Beast Boy grimaced, remembering their conversation earlier. He hadn't exactly been the most understanding with her wanting to meet new people. Thinking about it now he realized she probably had a point. It had to happen eventually, right?

"Who are we talking about?" Robin butted in, curiously. His drink was also empty and in need of a refill.

"Oh, just the love of B's life." Cyborg joked. Beast Boy rolled his eyes.

"Don't even joke like that." He muttered, while Robin nodded his head in understanding and looked across the rooftop to where Raven still sat with her friends.

"You should go talk to her." Robin echoed Cyborg's suggestion. "Aqualad isn't here, she's in a pretty good mood. You could have a good shot."

"Yeah, no. I'm probably the last person she wants to talk to at this party."

"What'd you do to piss her off now?" Robin asked, half joking and half concerned.

"I only did what I thought she wanted." Beast Boy sighed in annoyance.

"And what was that exactly?" Robin asked with a dry laugh.

"It doesn't matter. She's pissed anyway." Beast Boy griped, taking a rather large sip of his drink. Cyborg and Robin shared a look, unsure what to say to that. It wasn't unusual for Beast Boy and Raven to be fighting, but there seemed to be something different about this particular one.

"Well, maybe you could try apologizing?" Robin suggested.

"Gee, why didn't I think of that?" Beast Boy said sarcastically. He let out a heavy sigh. "Can we take a couple shots first?" His friends nodded and Cyborg set to work on filling a few shot glasses with something alcoholic.

》》《《

Raven was, surprisingly, having a fun time at the party. True to her word, Jinx stayed glued to her side. And Kid stayed close too, but was respectful of the girls night they were trying to have. Mostly he was there to make sure they both stayed "hydrated".

She followed Jinx from one friend group to another, enjoying the buzz of compliments and lighthearted socialization. And alcohol - that helped too. They took shots with Speedy and a few other friends. Lost a game of beer pong to Mas and Menos (intentionally, of course, so they could continue drinking). And now they were on the rooftop basking in the warmth of the fire with the birthday girl and some other friends.

They were friendly enough, Raven figured. Karen sat on one side of Raven and Jinx was on the other. There was the obligatory exchange of compliments between friends which spurred discussion of fashion trends. Karen admired a pendant strung around Raven's neck--a simple thing Raven had found at a thrift store. In fact Raven almost couldn't remember when she had gotten it until Karen asked. It wasn't a very special day, she and Beast Boy went shopping together for groceries and stopped at a few other stores on the way. He had actually picked out the pendant. He liked the rose stamped onto the dime-sized coin. Raven had only worn it a small handful of times since. Beast Boy probably didn't even remember it.

Of course, Raven only told Karen that it was a thrift store find before allowing the conversation to move onto other topics. There was no reason to dwell on the thought further.

As if he could sense her thoughts, Beast Boy stared over in her direction from the bar, wearing that perplexed expression he always seemed to have around her. She wondered what was going through his mind - was he kicking himself for his explosion earlier? Thinking of a way to apologize? Or was he wondering why she hadn't gotten with someone else yet? Maybe he was just hoping she would calm down enough for him to convince her that sex would fix it.

It doesn't matter. Raven reminded herself, letting her anger flare once more.

She turned her attention back to Karen and her friends. Unfortunately, they were all giggling about the cute boys at the party. Raven was far from interested. Luckily, one of them got the idea of migrating to the common room for beer pong and dancing. The group of girls all agreed and broke off, taking their vapid conversation with them. Raven was thankful for the reprieve. Jinx laughed at her expense, then sent Kid off to get them more drinks. He leapt at the opportunity, thankful to join the other guys at the bar for a bit.

Jinx pulled out her phone to scroll through social media for a bit while Raven scanned the rooftop. There were a few couples and small groups scattered around but most everyone was down in the common room. Raven stood and walked over to the ledge of the rooftop to look out over the water. She leaned her elbows on the ledge, watching, mesmerized by the waves as they crashed onto the rocks below. There was something peaceful about the chaos, she decided.

A figure joined her after several minutes. His face was construed by the hood of his dark blue sweatshirt, but Raven knew who it was and her heart skipped a beat. But she quickly reminded herself of what happened at the last party and tried to dampen her excitement as he greeted her with that half-cocked smile.

"Hey, Herald." She allowed herself to respond. "What brings you here? I didn't know you were so close with Karen."

"Truthfully, I'm not." Herald laughed lightly. "But I like a good Titan reunion every once in a while. And my girlfriend knows Karen, so it worked out."

"Your girlfriend?" Raven repeated, her whole body chilled, iced from the cold water of the revelation. Of course he has a girlfriend. Idiot! She mentally face-palmed herself.

"Oh, yeah. You probably didn't know." Herald chuckled, a little awkwardly. "We, um, met at that party a few weeks ago. I actually think I owe you an apology for that night. I sort of ditched you and that wasn't very cool. I'm sorry." Raven could tell the apology was sincere.

"Apology accepted. And truthfully, I'm glad you met someone." She said, managing a small smile. While it still stung, she was happy he had found someone he seems to like. And he's decent enough to realize how he might have hurt her feelings. Holding onto anger against him wouldn't be right, or healthy, she supposed.

"Cool." He nodded, a bigger smile spreading across his face. "Well, I just wanted to set the record straight and make sure there's no hard feelings."

"I appreciate that. We're good, now, though." Raven assured him.

"Good! So are you having a good time?" He bumped her elbow. The move was friendly, Raven now realized.

"Um, yeah. Alright, I suppose. You?"

"Oh yeah! You guys always throw good parties." He said enthusiastically. Raven shook her head with a light laugh. She couldn't see what everyone thought was so great about their parties. The almost endless amount of booze? Robin's terrible 'top hits' playlist? Maybe it was just the company, well herself excluded, anyway.

"So, are you here with someone?" Herald suddenly asked. Raven laughed harder.

"Only if you count Jinx and Kid. But they're mostly my accountability buddies." She joked. Herald raised an eyebrow.

"Not drinking tonight?" Her hands were empty, so it was fair of him to assume she might be staying sober. She laughed again.

"Oh, no. They're here to make sure I get drunk. They're just really bad at their job." Herald laughed with her.

"So, really, you're not seeing anyone?" He asked again, after a moment. Raven paused, glancing over to the bar where Cyborg, Robin and Kid were still chatting. Beast Boy had slipped away at some point during her conversation.

"No, no one serious." She decided. "Why?"

"I'm curious." He shrugged. "And surprised. I always am when I here that you're single. It doesn't make sense."

"You ask about me often?" Raven teased. Herald's cheeks flushed a bit from embarrassment.

"More like locker room talk, if I'm honest. It's despicable, I know. But deep down we are all 13 year old boys just noticing girls for the first time." He admitted sheepishly.

"Boys." Raven shook her head, not in the least surprised. But she was curious who was all in the hypothetical locker room talking. Were there any respectable Titans above engaging in such repulsive behavior? Probably not.

"We're not all bad. Mostly it's just keeping tabs on who's single or not. And occasionally there might be the discussion of bra size--" Raven slapped his chest lightly. "What? I don't participate in those conversations." She rolled her eyes.

"Unbelievable." She muttered under her breath.

"Well, I should get back to Audrey. But it was good to catch up. And whoever the guy you're seeing is, he's an idiot for not locking things down." Raven nodded.

"Yeah. Thanks, Herald. It was good to see you again." She wondered if he knew who the guy was. Was that something Beast Boy would bring up in the proverbial locker room?

If he did, Herald gave no indication of it as he gave a wave and headed for the elevator doors. Their fling must be too mundane for the locker room chats, she decided, turning back to watch the ocean waves.

A numbness settled in her chest once again, dissipating the anger that had previously sat there. Perhaps Herald had a point in calling Beast Boy an idiot. Maybe she was the idiot for allowing their arrangement to be like this. Either way, she was tired of feeling hurt because of Beast Boy.

》》《《

After the 3rd shot with his friends, Beast Boy was finally starting to feel ready to confront Raven. Of course, that didn't stop him from accepting the offer of a fourth from Kid as he came over to join him, Cyborg and Robin at the outdoor bar. He joked about giving Raven and Jinx their "girl time" as Cyborg started to pour out the drinks.

Beast Boy glanced over to the girls in question to see that Jinx had pulled out a phone and Raven was standing peacefully at the edge of the rooftop, looking out at the ocean. He wondered what she could be thinking. Could it be she was thinking about him? Or about one of her actual crushes, like Aqualad? That guy Herald from the last party?

As if on cue, a tall figure joined up with Raven, making her smile slightly. It was Herald he realized, kicking himself for not going over there sooner. He couldn't stop himself from theorizing what they could be talking about - was he apologizing for ditching her at the last party? Groveling for forgiveness and trying to make things right?

A rage boiled in his chest at the thought. He had given her permission to flirt and mingle. Told her that he would be happy if she found someone. He never thought it would actually happen.

"I'm gonna go... downstairs. Speedy needs a pong partner." Beast Boy informed his friends, interrupting their conversation. Before they could argue or ask what was wrong he was stalking away. Robin and Cyborg looked over to the shadowy figures of Raven and Herald, realization washing over them.

"Should we tell him Herald has a girlfriend?" Cyborg asked his buddies, staring at the elevator where his best friend had exited so abruptly.

"Let's give him a minute to simmer down first." Robin suggested, knowing what sort of head space Beast Boy would be in. Cyborg agreed quietly, gnawing on the concern for his friend that still sat lodged in his chest.

》》《《

Raven stood at the edge of the balcony, taking greedy sips from a bottle of raspberry flavored vodka she had swiped from the bar after shooing Jinx and Kid away, insisting she was fine. And she was, sort of. If only her heart could get over it too.

She took another large sip of the alcohol, appreciating the slight burn it left. Each sip numbed her a little bit more. Soon, she wouldn't feel anything at all. Just as she likes it.

As Raven was trying hard to desensitize herself, Beast Boy stepped behind her and wrapped her up in his arms. "You look cold." He cooed into her neck. She had left her sweater by the fire and her arms were cold as ice from the night air, though she had shut herself off from the cold a while ago. The vodka helped too. Still, as Beast Boy pulled her into his chest, she shivered from his warmth.

Raven exhaled heavily. "How can I help you Beast Boy?"

"I only came to say hi. And you looked cold."

"Hm, I'm sure." Raven hummed. She could smell the whiskey on his breath and knew that, like her, he was far from sober. Still, it was possible he had come to his senses and decided to apologize for earlier. A moment of silence passed as Beast Boy rubbed her arms lightly, attempting to warm them.

"So, where'd Herald go? You looked cozy earlier." Beast Boy risked saying. He knew it was wrong the moment it left his mouth, but he couldn't take it back.

"Jealous?" Raven taunted him.

"Hardly." Beast Boy scoffed. "I heard he's got a girlfriend." Raven released a strained breath.

"Yeah, he told me so himself." She took another long sip from the bottle. Beast Boy watched her carefully.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly. Raven shrugged, then nodded slightly.

"I didn't even really like him that much. I just..." she carded a hand through her hair. "It was nice to think I could be liked. I guess I was wrong." She went for another sip, but Beast Boy stopped her.

"You know that's not true, Rae." He said softly. "I like you."

Raven rolled her eyes. "Not like that." She mumbled bitterly. Beast Boy wasn't sure how to respond to that.

"Well I think I know something to cheer you up. Speedy brought a new game for everyone to try." He suggested.

"Yes because a crowd of people is exactly what I need right now." Raven joked.

"Not people, friends." Beast Boy corrected her. "And it's a drinking game. It'll be fun. If it's not, we can bail."

Raven thought about it. Drinking did sound fun. With a sigh, she agreed. Beast Boy smiled widely, a twinkle flickering through his bright green irises as he squeezed Raven tighter and kissed her frozen cheek.

》》《《

Speedy gathered a large group of his friends in the common room for his game. He was pretty stoked for it. It was funny, a little raunchy, and promoted drinking to excess. It was perfect!

Raven and Beast Boy entered the common room and Speedy was quick to invite them over. To his surprise, they both agreed. He thought for sure Raven would run the other direction - did Beast Boy explain the game to her? He shrugged the thought and ushered them into the circle so that they were seated together with Jinx on the other side of Raven. He had heard a rumor of a drunken bar-top kiss shared between the two girls and he secretly hoped one of them would draw a card to make it happen again. Sure, everyone knew that Jinx and Kid were basically a thing, even if they didn't know it themselves. But there was something thrilling and erotic about seeing two drunk girls kiss, as stereotypical as it might be.

When all of his friends were seated to his liking, he returned to the center of the circle to explain his game. "Alright listen up whores!" He called to get their attention. "Name of the game is Do or Drink. We're playing it my way because it's more fun. Rules are simple: there's a pile of cards here," he gestured to the coffee table in the center of the room which was set up for the game with a pile of black cards as well as several bottles of different kinds of alcohol and colorful plastic shot glasses for shots. "Draw a card from the pile and either do the dare on the card or drink. BUT house rule is you can only drink for 3 cards in a row. After that, on your fourth card, you must complete the dare." There was a chorus of groans, mostly from the girls. "Oh come on, it keeps the game spicy!" Speedy argued. "Now, as the owner of the game I get to pick who goes first. And I choose Dick, I mean Robin." Robin glared at Speedy and then picked a card from the stack on the coffee table in the center. "Oh. One more thing. You have to read the card out loud. Otherwise we won't know what you're too chicken to do."

Robin sighed and picked a card from the pile. "Let one person in the group slap you as hard as they can in the ass or finish your drink." He looked over at Star, who was sat beside him, as if contemplating if he could take it, then looked back at Speedy. "Alright, Speedy. Take your shot." He decided, standing up. Speedy leapt at the opportunity with a wide grin.

"Scared of your girlfriend?" He teased.

"I like my bones intact." Robin huffed, then geared up for Speedy to slap his ass, which he did, sharply. Robin grimaced from the sting and then returned to his seat as everyone had a good laugh at his expense.

"Isn't this game great?!" Speedy exclaimed, returning to his own seat. Play continued in a clockwise direction as players drew cards and then picked their poison. After a while, it came to Beast Boy.

"Give a hickey to the person on your left or both of you finish your drink." Raven was on his left, gearing up to down the rest of her bottle of raspberry vodka. But Beast Boy had other ideas. He grabbed her wrist and brought it to his mouth to suck on it hard enough to leave a purple mark.

"You're supposed to do it on her neck, dummy." Speedy sighed, disappointed.

"Card didn't specify that." Beast Boy shrugged, smiling wickedly at the loophole he had found. Speedy huffed in annoyance. But it was Raven's turn next and he hoped something exciting would happen to her.

Raven read her card aloud. "DM your crush or finish your drink. How appropriate." She mumbled, tipping back the bottle in her hand - there was only a couple inches left.

"Are you sure you don't want any chaser?" Beast Boy asked, concerned for her safety (and her liver). But Raven ignored him as she chugged the flavored vodka down as quickly as possible. Her friends watched on with concern, and a little bit of surprise, as she finished the bottle with little more than a grimace.

"Well I wasn't going to make you actually finish the bottle, but damn that was impressive!" Speedy cut in excitedly. Raven gave him a weak smile and was relieved when Speedy ushered the game on to the next person, craving more chaos.

As Jinx pulled a card from the stack and got up to do her dare, Beast Boy leaned over to Raven to make sure she was okay. He handed her a water bottle that he had grabbed for himself earlier but she refused softly, insisting she was fine. (The room would stop spinning after awhile, right?) But Beast Boy knew better and forced the bottle into her hands. She had no choice but to accept it. And as she slowly sipped on the water, Beast Boy rubbed her back soothingly. The motion helped to keep her grounded.

The pair nearly missed Jinx as she positioned her feet on the wall so she could twerk upside down for the crowd, as the card had instructed her to. Raven had never been more grateful for her friend's ability to steal the spotlight. By the time Jinx had finished with her stunt, everyone had moved on from Raven. Well, almost everyone. Robin, Beast Boy and Cyborg still sent some concerned glances her direction (Starfire was already a little too drunk to notice). But as the game continued to progress and Raven still remained somewhat coherent, they relaxed. Beast Boy still kept a hand on her back, just in case.

Speedy continued to usher the game on after Jinx, making sure each Titan in the circle took their turn at glory or embarrassment. Raven drank on most of her turns, choosing to risk making a fool of herself while drunk rather than doing some of the vile things on the cards (most of them directed toward her right side neighbor). At least the alcohol made the game more enjoyable to watch as her friends made questionable choices, directed by the cards they drew.

Beast Boy's next card told him to take his shirt off for an entire round, a dare he was happy to oblige, revealing his toned chest to the group. As always, Raven couldn't help but be distracted by the display. She struggled to bring her focus back to the game, only helped by Speedy urging her to get on with her turn. She drew her cards.

"Use your feet to give the player on your left a sip of their drink without spilling. Both of you must do this or finish your drinks." Raven read from the card. She looked over to Jinx on her left. "I'll do it if you will." She shrugged. Jinx grinned wickedly. Luckily Jinx had mixed her drink in a cup with a straw and lid which make it easier for her to drink. Raven just needed to balance the cup between her feet and raise it up to her. Easy.

Raven leaned back against Beast Boy's shirtless chest for balance and positioned Jinx's cup between her booted feet. She stifled a giggle as she raised the cup to Jinx. "Okay, I got it." She sputtered between laughs.

"Hold still." Jinx laughed, trying to grab hold of the straw. Eventually she was able to get it between her teeth and took a large sip. "Success!" She cheered loudly before taking the cup from Raven. The dark haired girl fell back against Beast Boy in laughter and he had to secure her with an arm to stop her from falling off the couch. Jinx barely recovered enough herself to take her own turn. But as she was gearing up to take her turn, another Titan joined the game.

"Sorry I'm late, but somebody needed to save the world today. Got room for another player?" Aqualad greeted his teammates.

"Hey, Buddy!" Speedy chimed in. "Squeeze in by Jinx there, you can be next. She's too riled to play right now anyway." Jinx laughed, as if in agreement, so Aqualad agreed and sandwiched himself between Jinx and Raven after grabbing a card from the stack.

"Huh, okay. Stick your face in the boobs or pecks of the person on your right for 3 breaths. Do this, finish your drink, or quit playing." He side-eyed Raven, who was unfortunately seated to his right. "Well, I'm game if you are." He said, shooting her a dazzling smile.

Raven stopped her giggling abruptly and spared Beast Boy a quick glance before deciding. He was watching her carefully, breath held as he waited for her decision. She nodded in agreement. "Sure, it's just a dare." She reasoned before adjusting herself to a better position for him. The rest of the group watched on in amusement as Aqualad placed his head on Raven's chest, she tried to hide her embarrassment, and Beast Boy glared at both with something that could only be described as jealousy.

Aqualad breathed deeply 3 times, as the card had instructed, and then pulled away. The pair laughed off their awkwardness, flushed from embarrassment and lack of breath.

"Well that was fun!" Speedy exclaimed for the group. "Jinx, care to try to top it?" The pink haired girl rolled her eyes and picked a card from the pile. It was a lame challenge to rock, paper, scissors with a player of her choice. She picked Speedy, hoping to kick his smug butt.

As Aqualad left to get a drink from the kitchen, Beast Boy leaned in to whisper to Raven. "Have fun?" The words were a little slurred from the beer in his hand that he'd chugged a little too quickly.

"Gar, your jealousy is showing." Raven said sweetly, grabbing his beer to take a sip. She regretted it once the foul liquid made its way down her throat. But the move made him grimace with annoyance.

"I didn't say anything about being jealous." He mumbled. Raven just shook her head, ignoring his taunts and turning her attention back to the game.

Was this chapter excessively long? Yes.

Did it take me longer than necessary to write? Also yes.

Do I have any good excuses? Only if we are still using the pandemic as one lol

In all seriousness though, I hope you enjoyed the chapter! I had a lot of fun coming up with dares for the game they played. I'm also excited to try to include more fun/drunk Raven + angsy/jealous Beast Boy in the next chapter! 😉
