Chapter Twenty One.
Morgan was sitting at the table when Wolf walked in, Iris was a few yards away playing with a little boy who belonged to someone else. She didn't see him approach and he used the opportunity to sneak up behind her and press his lips to the spot on her neck, just below her ear.
She jumped at first but by the time he placed a second kiss nearer to her ear realized who it w'as and relaxed, letting her head fall back against his shoulder.
"You made it back," She said with a sigh of relief.
"I did."
She stood from her chair and turned to embrace him, realizing now how glad she was that he was safe. He dropped a kiss on her shoulder and pulled her around the chair, her body flush against his. He cupped her face in his hand and tipped her head up, kissing her deeply.
His other hand dropped to her waist, sliding beneath the hem of her t-shirt. His calloused hand sliding gently across her soft, silken skin was enough to cause shivers down her spine. She instinctively pressed closer to him.
He pulled away first, reluctantly. She fought him and he had to almost force her away, keeping her body tight against his but her lips a few inches away.
"I have to tell you something," He said softly.
"Tell me," She was breathless and straining for another kiss.
He relented unable to resist and claimed her lips again with his own. About the time she started to melt back into his arms he pulled away again.
"I found him," He said against her lips.
"Who?"She asked.
"The man who shot Iris."
She pulled back, putting space between their bodies. She looked up at him with wide eyes, full of tears.
"You....you found him?"
"I did."
She stood there a minute and then she started to cry, he instantly pulled her into a hug allowing her to bury her face against his chest. He glanced up to see that a few of the other people in the room were openly staring at them.
"Come on, let's go somewhere private."
She gave a feeble nod and he turned leading her down the hall and to his room. Once they were inside he closed the door and continued to hold her.
"Is he dead?" She asked after a minute or two, looking up at him.
"No, I need to find out what he knows."
"Can I see him?" She asked.
"I don't know if that's such a good idea...."
"No, I....I think I want to."
She looked up at him and he knew he couldn't deny her this. He pushed some of her hair back gently from her face.
"If you're sure."
"I am, Jennifer will watch Iris."
"Still no word from Lacy?" He asked.
"No, I called but...."She trailed off.
"Okay, I'm going to lay down for a little while and then we'll go to the warehouse. Okay?"
"Okay, I'll let you rest."
She turned to leave and he caught her elbow, spinning her back into his chest. Tipping her head up by her chin.
"I said lay down....I didn't say I was going to rest."
Before she could reply he ducked his head and kissed her. She allowed him to pull her closer and stretched up on tiptoe to kiss him back.
His hands dropped to her butt and he lifted her with ease, her legs going around his waist. He turned to pin her against the door, his hand going to the hem of her shirt and stripping it over her head. Her hands threaded through his hair, enjoying the thick locks sliding between her fingers.
He turned from the wall to lay her down on the bed, legs still wrapped around his waist, her hands dropped to pull his belt free of its buckle and slide it out of his jeans tossing it aside.
He woke up first, glancing beside him to where Morgan was still sleeping. The blankets pulled up to her waist, laying on her stomach clutching a pillow. He leaned over and pulled the blankets higher up her bare back, letting his fingers trail her spine. He dropped light kisses across her bare shoulders and neck.
"mmmm, don't start something you cant finish." She said softly.
"If you want to go to the warehouse, your gorgeous ass has to get up and get dressed.
She rolled over and smiled up at him, pulling him down for a chaste kiss. He played with a lock of her hair for minute or two before sighing heavily.
"We need to get a move on, it's been hours and the guys are waiting."
She bit her lower lip and gave a small nod. He sensed her nervousness about the situation they were in, he kissed the tip of her nose then rolled from the bed to begin pulling on his clothes. When he turned around she was pulling on her jeans, she turned and pulled her shirt back over her head.
"Are you still sure you want to do this?" He asked.
"Yes, I need too."
He turned to his dresser and pulled a black hoodie from his drawer, the logo for the Animals was emblazoned on the back. He walked over to her and put it around her shoulders and zipping it up.
"You'll get cold," He said.
She slid her arms down the sleeves and pushed her hair back from her face. He took her hand in his and together they walked out of the room into the main hall where Iris was eating her lunch beside Jenny.
"Do you mind watching her a little longer?" Morgan asked.
"Not at all."
Morgan walked over to Iris and dropped a kiss on top of her head.
"I'll be back sweetie, okay?"
"Okay mommy."
She smiled at her daughter then turned back to Wolf, who stood waiting. She walked to him and he put an arm around her shoulders, walking out the door with her and leading her to his motorcycle. She climbed onto his motorcycle with a little bit of assistance and he swung on in front of her, she wrapped her arms tightly around his chest as he started his bike.
As they flew down the street it occurred to him how much he liked having her on the back of his bike, how much he enjoyed her arms wrapped around him so tightly. He'd spent his life mostly alone, only having one night stands but now he realized that maybe he wanted something a little more.
He parked in front of the warehouse and swung off his bike, Morgan hesitated a minute or two before allowing him to help her off the bike.
She followed him into the warehouse and the other men all stepped back to reveal the man who shot her daughter.
He was tied to a flimsy metal chair, his face bruised and bloody, head hanging limp to the side. Zeke met them and Wolf paused to speak to him.
"He talk?"
"No and I don't think he's going too."
"What's your opinion?" Wolf asked.
"Kill him," Zeke said with a shrug.
"I'll do it," Morgan said suddenly.
"No," Wolf replied.
"I can do it, let me do this."
"No, you're hurt, you're angry and you're not thinking clear. This isn't you, this isn't your life."
Before he could protest anymore she grabbed his gun from the holster that was riding on his side. She grabbed the gun and spun around, storming the few steps towards the man. The other men all jumped out of her way but Wolf pursued.
"Morgan don't!" Wolf yelled.
She pressed the gun to the mans forehead, her arm shaking and her body trembling. Tears burned her throat and her eyes and the man looked up at her with a sick sneer.
"You don't have the balls baby," he said.
"Morgan, this isn't you. This isn't who you are," Wolf said.
"It can be!" She cried.
"Do it, come on sweet thing." The man taunted.
"Don't! Dont' sink to his level," Wolf begged.
She pulled back the hammer, her shaking getting worse and her breathing erratic.
"He shot my baby, he almost killed my little girl."
"and I'll take care of it," He promised.
She looked at Wolf then back at the man who was now laughing in her face. He spit and blood spray went down the front of her shirt.
"Morgan, I love you." Wolf said.
This got her attention and she looked away from the man to Wolf, who was beside her.
"What?"
"I love you, and I don't love you because you're not like this. I love you because you're good and sweet and innocent. I love you because you're not like me, you're not this kind of person."
She stared at him a minute, blinking through her tears. Swallowing passed the lump in her throat she slowly handed Zeke the gun. Once she was unarmed Wolf wasted no time in taking her in his arms and kissing away all of her tears.
"I'm sorry," She sobbed.
"It's okay, it's okay."
"I think I want to go home...."
"Sure, I'll have Ty take you. Is that okay?"
"Yes."
She lifted her head and gave him a deep kiss.
"I love you," He said.
"I love you too."
He kissed her again and she started to walk away, holding his hand until the last minute. She turned around and looked at him.
"Take care of him and then come home to me," She said.
"I promise."
She followed Ty out the door into the parking lot and as soon as she was gone Wolf pulled out his second gun, turned to the man and shot him. Once through the head.
