Chapter Seventeen.
Morgan stood near the small table, watching the doctors pull the several IVs and tubs out of her daughter. Iris was being released today and while she was glad her daughter was going to pull through she wasn't excited about moving into the clubhouse.
"Nurse, I believe this little girl needs a sticker." The doctor said.
"Two," Iris said.
"Two," the doctor agreed.
The doctor continued to check her vital signs and then exited the room, the nurse handing the child two stickers for her troubles and then leaving as well.
"Mommy?"
"hmm?" Morgan asked as she began packing.
"Are we going home?"
"No, we're going to go say at the club for a little while."
"Why?"
"It's safer there."
"Cause Mr. Wolf and Zeke are there?"
"Yeah."
Iris seemed to accept that as an answer, even if Zeke and Wolf were two men she should be afraid of. Morgan turned and continued to pack their things. Ty was outside by the door and when they were ready would phone Wolf to come pick them up. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't putting off that phone call.
When it couldn't be helped anymore she opened the door and Ty turned to smile at her. He was such a nice guy, sweet, caring, good looking. He could settle down with anyone he wanted but instead was loyal to Becky, who had no idea how he felt.
"We're ready," Morgan said.
"I'll call Wolf."
She offered him a small smile and closed the door, going back inside. Iris was sitting on her bed, struggling to pull on her tiny pink jacket. Morgan rushed to help her, afraid she'd injure herself.
"Be careful of your stitches," Morgan scolded.
"I'm fine mommy."
"Just be gentle for a while, okay?"
"Okay. Won't Aunt Lacy be happy to see me?" Iris beamed.
"I'm sure she will," Morgan said gently, hoping it was true.
"And Mr. Wolf."
"Yeah, him too."
Iris smiled happily and Morgan forced a smile back at her. She had almost lost her daughter because of the life Wolf offered them.
When Wolf finally arrived Morgan had their things packed and Iris was anxious to go. He walked in the door and smiled at the little girl, lighting up. Almost instantly Morgan picked up on the difference immediately. He didn't carry the cold, standoff attitude she was used too.
"You ready to get out of here?" He asked Iris.
"Yes."
"Alright, let's go."
He motioned to the door and Iris skipped ahead, Morgan hesitated and he turned towards her.
"Can I get your bags?" He offered.
"You're different."
"Maybe....a little."
"What changed?"
"You know what changed, is it a good different?"
"I haven't decided yet."
"I can wait," He said with a shrug.
He picked up their bags and headed after Iris. Morgan watched him go, she knew what had changed that damn kiss back at her house. He thought it had changed things and while it made her aware of a mutual attraction it didn't change the lifestyle he lived, or the dangers with it.
She couldn't deny it had felt good though, she loved Iris but it felt good to be wanted by a man. To feel like a desirable woman and not a single mother, to feel like somebody wanted her. A small shiver ran down her spine at the memory of his hands on her body, she squashed it down. Right now she just wanted to get Iris somewhere safe.
They crossed the parking lot together, Iris rattling on about the pretty sky, flowers and everything else. The way she bounced back from the injury astounded Morgan, she was on edge at every noise but Iris was completely at peace.
Iris climbed into the truck and slid to the middle, pushing buttons at will and looking at everything, if Wolf noticed he didn't comment as he helped her settle on the seat and did the belt buckle gently.
Morgan didn't speak as they drove to the club, she didn't really need too. Iris kept a steady conversation going for the entire ride and Wolf returned it ten fold, keeping her completely entertained for the ride.
As soon as he parked the truck and Morgan had exited the truck Iris bolted across the parking lot towards the garage.
"Iris, don't run!" Morgan called.
"She's alright," Wolf said.
"If she falls....."
"She won't, she's okay."
"She was shot."
"I know but if moving around hurt, she wouldn't do it. Come on, I'll show you to your room.
He grabbed her bags from the bed of his truck and motioned to the common building. She glanced back at Iris who had wrapped herself around Zeke's legs. Taking a deep breath she followed him into the building.
The main room was surprisingly empty considering the amount of people that were on the lot all together. Sky waved at Morgan from his spot at the bar with Jenny and Becky glanced up from her book with a smile. She pushed from her chair and followed them down the hall.
Wolf paused at a door and pushed it open, inside was a large bed and one dresser.
"I hope this is okay,"He said.
"It'll be fine, thank you."
"My room is uh......right across the hall." He said, sounding nervous for the first time in as long as she'd known him.
"Oh."
"If you.....if you need anything."
"Thank you."
"I'll let you get settled."
He glanced at Becky who was leaning against the door way then quickly ducked out of the room. When he was gone Morgan released a breath she didn't know she was holding as Becky shut the door and gave her a pointed look before sitting on the bed.
"What the hell is that about?"
"I'm not sure."
"Did something happen between you?"
"No," Morgan lied.
"Hmm....oh well, how's Iris?"
"Good, she couldn't wait to get here and see Zeke."
"Yeah.......he's good with kids....." Becky sighed heavily and began picking her nail polish.
"What's that about?"
"What?"
"You know what, did something happen between you and Zeke?" Morgan asked sitting next to her.
"No, nothing like that."
"Then what?"
"I just.....overheard something I wasn't supposed to."
"What did you hear?" Morgan asked.
"Something Zeke said....about me."
"And Ty?" Morgan guessed.
"No, not that. He said he wished I was dead."
Morgan shook her head, Zeke wasn't exactly close with Becky but it wasn't like him to be deliberately cruel to someone.
"I thought you two were friends," Morgan said.
"So did I."
"Has he spoken to you since?"
"He's tried........it doesn't matter. I should go let you get unpacked and Iris put to bed."
"Yeah I guess, she's had a big day."
"I'll see you for breakfast?" Becky asked, standing.
"Sure."
She watched the younger walk to the door and couldn't help asking.
"Becky?"
"Yeah?"
"Have you seen Lacy?"
"No, she left early this morning and hasn't been back. I don't think even Demon knows where she went. Is something wrong?"
"No....probably not."
"I'll see you later."
Beck offered her a smile before leaving her alone.
Morgan sat on the bed wondering what Lacy was doing. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't worried about her best friend and what was happening. She didn't want to believe Lacy would betray the club but had no doubt that she was with King right now.
The door swung open again and Iris bounced happily inside. Morgan had to push everything else aside for the rest of the night and care for Iris but Lacy was at the back of her mind and more than once Wolf fought his way to the front.
She bathed Iris in the bathroom connected to their room and tucked her into the large bed. She read her favorite book three times before the child fell asleep.
Closing the book and setting it aside Morgan stood from the bed and moved to the window, she looked out at the night sky. The stars all dancing brightly in the dark, she hoped Lacy was safe and new without a doubt right now Demon was out searching for her. She glanced at the clock it was after eleven at night.
She paced a little until it was after midnight and she heard the rest of the building fall silent. It set her on edge knowing Wolf was across the hall. The desire to feel his hands on her again almost overpowering. She paced until one am and then finally caved in to the inevitable.
She slipped quietly from her room and across the hall, taking a deep breath she knocked carefully and was surprised when the door opened and he stood there in just a towel. Water running down the muscular planes of his chest and the towel falling loosely off his hips, his wet hair slicked back he looked at her confused.
"Morgan-"
She interrupted him with her lips, leaning on tiptoes to kiss him. It took all of three seconds before he responded, his lips moving against hers and his hand falling gently to her waist. He didn't rush her, didn't pull her against him and didn't push her limits. He just kissed her gently back, her hands gripped his shoulder tightly, feeling the muscles under the wet skin.
He pulled away first and backed up, an open invitation to come inside and she knew she could either accept or turn back. She accepted. She stepped into his room and the door clicking shut sounded like a gun going off to her raw senses.
He stood behind her and she felt him gently, almost reverently move her hair aside to place soft, gently kisses on her neck.
"I.....I should warn you....I don't have much experience." She stuttered out.
"I know, it's okay."
"It's....been awhile."
"How long?" He asked, his hands trailing lightly up her neck.
"Since I got pregnant."
"Too damn long," he said roughly.
He moved with lightening speed then, spinning her around into his arms, crushing her against him and devouring her lips with his own. She returned his fervor, he slowed him touches only long enough to recline her gently against his mattress.
