Chapter 28
It's the end of the year.
My life at Agore Academy has changed so much.
I am no longer the the loner I once was, isolating myself in the restroom.
I actually made friends.
I lost a friend too.
I got a girlfriend.
I lost a girlfriend.
Who would've thought this would happen to the likes of me.
Now I am back home.
I small town hidden amongst the forests around.
Thornhill.
How I've missed this place. Not.
The weather mimics my mood of arrival.
Gloomy.
I then head to my old room.
It hasn't changed since I left.
Crooked floor, stained windows, hallow walls.
After unpacking my things I head down the stairs to find my mother preparing dinner.
She sends me in town to get certain spices.
This place used to be for werewolves only, but things changed after the union.
I wander through town searching for the ingredients like a squire on a quest.
When I finally get all the spices I head to back home. On the way I see the local skate park.
I can tell from it's worn out ramps and scarred rails it hasn't been used in a long time.
Wait.
A Goblin.
I see performing "tricks".
From what it looks like his not any good.
Most attempts ending in failure.
I watch how he falls to the ground, over and over again miserably.
Even though he falls, he still gets up.
That alone tells me his stubborn and naive.
The scars on his legs tells me he has been doing this for a while.
Upon seeing me I turn my head and make my way back home, pretending that I did not see him.
I arrive at home to hand over the missing ingredients to my mother.
I help her in the kitchen.
I do not like cooking but I do it for my mother.
I cover my displeasure with joy masked over my face.
I fear the food will be tainted by my help. Hopefully nothing goes wrong.
With the sun fast past the horizon we all gather around the table ready for dinner.
Like always, my mother covers the entire table with tender meat.
That's the only thing werewolves can eat after all.
Everyone grabbing their share before it's disappears into the dark abyss known as their stomachs.
As always I take the least, I don't not care about eating a lot. That's probably one of the reasons I'm so skinny.
Through the savagery my father raises his hand and then everyone stops.
It's silent.
"As you all know, Lycan's training starts tomorrow. I think it's fair that he gets a good portion on the food, don't you think." My father says, with his stern, dropped voice.
And just like that the food in my plate quadruples in size.
I am the last to finish my food, struggling as every bite seems to stretch out my stomach. If this is how I'm gonna be eating from now on I can forget being able to see my toes any longer.
Is this the punishment for helping my mother in the kitchen?
I guess it's true what they say, you reap what you sow.
