Old man- Chapter 1
(I was listening to this song a lot whole writing. King of the clouds by Panic! At the disco)
I hop from branch to branch as I make my way through this random forest I stumbled upon. “Yuka where are we going this time? Let's hope it's not like that shitty village you choose last time. We almost got jumped and worst they almost took my last bag of banana chips”. I glance over to my irritated familiar. Her blonde cat ears where twitching in irritation and her red eyes glaring into the back of my head. “It's wasn't that bad and we didn't get jumped in the end now did we? Calm down there you angry kitty”. I stick my tounge out at her.
Nina is always complaining about me getting us into trouble, well more like someone taking her snack. We're never in the same place. I haven't found that place to belong yet….if that makes sense. Nina doesn't help in that matter either. She's always complaining about things from the people to the freakin air pressure! I'm serious! She has some issues. “Yuka, there seems to be a village up ahead”. I stop on a branch and peak my head over the pile of leaves. Up ahead was a peaceful looking village. I could see 2 guards and some people walking, to what I'm guessing, into the village’s shopping district.
“They look nice, let's head in!”. Before Nina could get even a word out of her mouth, I hop down from the branch and happily sprint up to the two guards in front. “Hello!”. They look over at me rather surprised. “Woah! Where'd the kid come from?”. Nina floats over and lands on my shoulder. “And what's with the strange cat thing-y?”. Nina takes this into offense. “I'm not some cat thing! My name is Nina and I'm a familiar you idiotic man”. I just hold back a laugh and roll my eyes. “Ignore her, My names is Yuka Okurma and while roaming around the forest we noticed this village and decided to stop by”.
They nod and look at each other. “Got any ID or anything on ya?”. I shake my head. “Village headband?”. Shake my head once again. “Anything?”. I take a moment to think. “Oh! I have this cool necklace I got when I was like 6 with my families clan mark on it. I don't know if that counts or anything”. I start rummaging through my faded yellow bag. “It's in here somewhere I promise”. The hell is that damn thing? Someone taps my shoulder. “It's here I promise”. They tap me again. “What is it?”. Nina stares at me with a blank stare. “It's around your neck, you dumb idiot”.
I touch my neck and feel the silver chain. “Oh”. A sheepish smile creeps up on my face. “Sorry I have a habit of forgetting things”. The men told back laughs and ask to the necklace, which I show them. The seem to freeze upon noticing the symbol hanging from the silver chain. “Kid, your last name is Okurma right?”. I nod. “Like the Okurma clan, the one that unfortunately isn't around anymore?”. They try and explain as careful as they possibly could. “Yeah, that clan”. The both look at each other before nodding. “Do you think you could come with us? We have someone who could help you out”.
Nina glances at the two then me. “Don't you-”. I smile at the two, ignoring Nina. “Of course! I love meeting new people!”. I skip as I follow them into the village. “One day, We're going to end up dead”. Nina mumbles as she follows behind me. “Let's hope it's not today”. I whisper into her ear. Her face turns a deep red as she realizes what I said. “I'm going to kill you”. I let out a giggle as I skip away from her. I love getting her pissed off if you didn't notice.

I ended up following the dumb duo to some nice looking building. The roof was a nice red color and the atmosphere seemed friendly and inviting. “Follow us, the Hokage would like to meet you”. We head up a few flights of stairs until we stopped at a door. One of them knock and a heard a voice answer with a come in. The door opens and I walk inside. Nina glances around the room and flies up to my shoulder. “Hello there”. I stop and notice the old man sitting at a desk. “Uh, Hi?”. I answer hesitantly. He smiles at me and I hear the door close.
I look behind me and instantly notice the dumb duo left. “Welcome to the leaf village, I'm the Hokage”. I take a few steps closer to him. “Hokage? So you run the village?”. He lets out a heartful laugh. “Not exactly. I protect the village and the people who live here”. I nod. “It's seems peaceful here so you must be doing a great job!”. He smiles. “I’m glad that my work had been worth all the time I spent”. I really like this guy. He feels so….warm. He reminds me of my Grandpa. I can tell that he has a very loving heart and is a great person. I instantly relax and so does Nina. “May I ask your name young lady?”. He leans forward as if to hear me better.
“My name is Yuka Okurma. Nice to meet you”. I hold my hand out to him, which he gladly takes. “I welcome you to our village hidden in the leaves. It's always nice to meet such respectful kids these days”. He lets out a sigh. “Unlike most kids of this generation, you seem like you actually care about your elders feelings”. I can't help but let out a laugh at his expression. He looks utterly defeated. “Any time Mr. Hokage”. He shakes his head. “Mr. Hokage won't do. Just call me gramps. Most kids do”. I hear someone clear their throat. “What about me?”.
Nina pouts as she was completely forgotten. “Oh, Gramps, I would like you to meet Nina. She's my familiar and my family”. Gramps holds his hand out to the pouting familiar. “That's better”. Nina takes his hand with her tiny hand. I smile at I look out the window behind the old man I just met. The village had people bustling around and kids playing. I think I want to stay here for a while.
Chapter done! How was the first chapter? I hope it was good of I just spent 2 days doing nothing. I wrote this in parts because of how busy I am. Being the middle child can be super challenging. I'll see you next week with a new chapter!
