Lollie Parker
Lollie rested her head on her arm.
She later learned that the boys' name was Evan.
"I've never told anybody this before." Evan said.
Lollie smiled, "Well, I'm not anybody."
"I want to be a Sherpa."
"No, don't do that."
"Yeah, I'm glad I told you."
"They're the people who take you up to Mount Everest, right?" Lollie asked.
"And that's what I want to be. But not just some regular... "Hi, I'm Evan your friendly mountain guide." I want to help people find their way to places they never thought they could reach."
"What's that, Sherpa?"
"That's morning."
Lollie looked out the window and saw the sun shining.
"Have we been talking all night?"
"I had a wonderful time. Can we do it again?"
"I- I don't know. I'm not going be here long."
"You've been up all night!" Finn said.
Lollie looked over and saw her parents along with the Matthews sitting on the couches.
"She gets this from you." Topanga said.
"How long have you guys been there?" She asked.
"We stayed up all night talking, too. Wanted to see what the big deal was." Bailey said.
Lollie was confused, "Was it a big deal?"
"Yeah. I like him now."
"What about you, Lollie? Is it a big deal?" Mr. Matthews asked.
"It was really great talking to you, Evan. I had a really really great time talking to you, but I should head upstairs."
"Okay."
He grabbed Lollie by the hand and helped her up.
Just in time for everyone upstairs to see.
Maya smiled, "She's wearing the same clothes."
"Who's that?" Lucas said.
"Just my luck." Lollie muttered.
She looked down and saw that Evan was still holding her hand.
She pulled her hand away and hobbled towards the steps.
"While we're wearing new different clothes." Maya said.
"Who's that?" Lucas continued to ask.
"She looks sleepy to me." Riley said.
"I'm actually very tired, someone should help me upstairs so I can sleep."
"I can take you." Evan said.
Lollie looked back over at her parents.
"You got caught, kid." Finn said.
"You know what helps though?" Topanga asked.
Bailey answered, "Nothing."
"Yeah."
The four adults walked towards the back.
"Okay, this is ridiculous." Lollie said, "Are you really going to make me explain myself?"
"What do you think?" Riley asked.
"Yes." Lucas said.
"Yes." Maya repeated.
"Okay, then fine. I have this boot on. I am hobbled. As a person who is hobbled, all I can do is talk. All we did was talk. He's a nice guy."
Lucas made it to the bottoms step, "Okay."
"Lucas," Lollie said as she hobbled, "I'm not allowed to talk?"
"Sure you can. You can talk to whoever you want, Winter."
He walked off and Lollie faced Maya, "Maya."
"I'll take care of it. It'll be fine." She said and dragged Riley with her.
"No, wait."
Maya looked back at Lollie.
"Can you just talked to him, only you?"
Maya looked up at Riley.
"Yeah, sure."
"I'm really sorry, Lollie, but I did really like staying up with you all night." Evan said.
Lollie smiled at him, "Thank you, Evan. I liked talking to you too."
"You're wearing the same clothes." Smackle said.
"You look sleepy to me." Farkle said.
"Who's that? That one there. Who's that?" Zay asked.
﹏﹏﹏﹏
Maya looked around the corner and saw Lucas sitting on a bench
"You and I both know that Lollie was just talking to that guy." Maya said.
"I know. I saw." Lucas said.
"She's got that big, clunky boot on, okay? So all she did was stay up and talk to some guy. Who she says is a nice guy."
"Would you stop saying that?"
"Why? Why does it bother you that she talked to someone?"
"I don't know." He sighed.
Maya sat up straight, "Is it because deep down in you, you still like Lollie?"
Lucas looked over at her and didn't say anything.
"You broke up with her, if you still liked her when you broke up, why break up with her in the first place?"
Lucas sighed before answering, "I've never liked anyone as much as I liked Lollie. I've never even met anyone like her either."
"Me too." Maya said.
"Not the way you're seeing it."
"Oh, trust me. I know what you mean."
Lucas didn't seem to follow.
"Once you get to know her she's great, and she's herself. That's what I like about Lollie." Maya said, "Once you get to know her, you somehow attached to her, like, you like her."
Lucas nodded.
"I think I did, for a while, like her, but then I met her brother, and I knew I liked him more. So, I know what you mean."
"I'm glad you told me." Lucas said.
"I'm glad it's off my chest." Maya smiled, "If you truly like Lollie don't let her get away. You've lost her once, don't do it again."
﹏﹏﹏﹏
Lollie did eventually make her way upstairs and sighed as she sat on the bed.
Mariah walked in and sat beside her, "I have a secret." She giggled.
"Okay?"
"Do you wanna know?"
Lollie scrunched her eyebrows, "Do you want to tell me? If not, I don't want to know."
"I have a boyfriend." She whispered.
"Didn't you and Thor just break up?"
Mariah hit her arm, "We broke up like," she began to count on her fingers, "Three months ago."
"Okay. So who's your boyfriend now?"
"I'll give you a hint, his name starts with a J."
Lollie was drawing a blank, she didn't know any "J's".
"Oh my, Lollie. Josh, I'm dating Josh."
"Ew."
"Lollie!"
Lollie stood up with her crutches, "I'm sorry, it was just a reaction, word vomit if you will."
"You don't like Josh?" Mariah asked.
"I don't know Josh, but if you like him. Go for it."
Mariah smiled, "Good, because we've been dating for a while."
"Well," Lollie started, "Good for you."
﹏﹏﹏﹏
"What does it mean that Lollie spent the whole night talking to some other guy?" Lucas asked.
Josh looked at him, "It could mean that Lollie's not interested in you anymore."
"It could mean that?"
"Boy, you are insecure for a Western hero."
Evan walked into the room, "Or it could mean that she just enjoys talking to someone."
"I don't like that you know anything." Lucas said, "I wonder what you guys talked about."
"I told her what I wanted to do with my life." Evan said.
"Oh, no, she loves that." Lucas said.
"I've never told anyone before."
"She loves that, too."
"What did you tell her?" Josh asked.
"I told her I wanted to be a Sherpa." Evan said.
Josh looked Evan in the eyes, "Oh, no, don't do that."
"I like helping people get to places they never thought they could go." Evan said.
"So does Lollie. Is that a Sherpa guidebook?" Lucas asked.
"This? This is a game we're going to play. We've had it behind the counter for years. I'm going to read you some questions from this book. It's called the Official Guide to Who Belongs With Who." Evan said.
Riley walked into the room with Maya.
"The book's gonna tell us?" Riley asked.
"No!" Mr. Matthews shouted, "I remember that book. That book is evil. The first question is, "if you could change your mate into one animal, what would it be?" And the only answer is, the falcon."
"How do you know that?" Maya asked.
"Because I am the falcon." Mr. Matthews said.
"Of course, you are." Lollie said.
The group looked at her as she entered the room.
"Let's play. Let's find out who belongs with who?" Maya said.
"Don't do it. Nobody do it." Mr. Matthews said.
They chose to ignore him and sat down. Farkle, Smackle, Noah, and Zay ran into the living room and sat down on the couch.
"No one ever listens to the falcon." Mr. Matthews said, "You all deserve what you get."
"Question number one." Evan said.
"If you could change your mate into one animal-" Riley started.
"It's not even the same question." Evan said.
"Why not?" Maya asked.
"We're the next generation." Lollie said.
"Exactly." Evan said, "Because this is Who Belongs With Who, The Next Generation. This question's for you guys. The most important part of any meaningful relationship is, A, romance."
"Yes, romance. Isn't that the whole point of a relationship?" Riley asked.
"Well-"
"It says any relationship, it doesn't just mean you guys and Noah." Farkle said.
"Yeah, it also means relationships with your friends." Josh said.
"So if the answer isn't romance, then what else you got?" Riley asked.
"B, adventure." Evan said.
"Yes, adventure. Break the rules." Maya said.
"You don't have to break the rules to have an adventure." Lucas said.
"Sometimes you need to take it easy." Lollie added.
"What do you have against breaking the rules, Ranger Rick?" Maya asked.
"That's who he used to be, Maya. Cost him a year of his life. I think maybe he's learned something." Zay said.
"Read the other choice." Farkle said.
"How do you know there is one?" Evan asked.
"In multiple-choice, there are always the answers that are close, but then there's the correct answer and as soon as you hear it, you know it's right." Smackle explained.
"And I don't think we've heard the right answer yet, so I know the most meaningful part of any relationship is C." Farkle said.
"One for us. Next question."
Lollie sighed, "Can we please hear what C is?"
"C, conversation." He said.
"Ding." Smackle said.
Smackle went for a high-five and Farkle hugged her.
"Even better. I love these now." She said.
Lollie smiled at the two.
"How come?" Riley asked.
"Because Smackle and I have had so many good conversations now that I think she trusts me. I do. I like these, too." Farkle said.
Zay tried to hug them, they didn't move.
"So the most meaningful part of a relationship is talking to each other?" Riley asked.
Lollie nodded, "You can have your romance and all the adventures you want, but if you don't talk to them, it isn't considered a healthy relationship."
"And with the right person, sometimes you can talk all night." Evan said.
"Yup, maybe so. Well, if y'all will excuse me," Lucas stood up, "I'm gonna go over there and maybe, I don't know, kick a tree."
"Will y'all excuse me? I'm going to go over there and maybe, I don't know, save a tree." Zay said.
Zay jumped up and Noah followed after.
"Question number two. How do you know if you love somebody?" Evan asked.
"You know what? I'm through playing games, I want to talk to you." Maya said.
"Who?" They asked.
She walked towards the door and took Noah with her upstairs.
"I just need to think." Riley said.
That left Lollie, Smackle, Farkle, Evan, and Josh.
Lollie stood up and grabbed her crutches, Farkle stood up with her and grabbed her hand.
Farkle took her into the back and sat down.
"Talk to me." Farkle said.
She didn't say anything.
He sighed, "Lollie, you're my best friend, you think I'm going to let you be all hobbled and sad. It's not a good mix."
Lollie smiled at him.
She leaned in and hugged him.
"I love you, Farkle."
"I love you too, Lollie."
Lollie let go of him and smiled, "I only talked to him. It's not like I did anything bad."
"And you didn't, but you used to do the same thing with Lucas. Do you miss him?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you miss being with him?"
"Yeah, I do."
"Then go for it, what are you scared of?"
"I don't want him to yell at me again."
Farkle sighed again, he didn't know what to say to that. He felt bad for her.
"Lollie, I don't want you to feel that way, but couples fight. You might yell at him one day and Lucas is gonna hate it."
"You're right."
"Go talk to Lucas."
Farkle helped the girl up and she left him there.
She walked into the living room to see Noah holding Maya's hand.
"Where are you going?" Noah asked.
"Outside, need fresh air."
She saw Lucas sitting on the bench outside.
"Hey, cowboy." Lollie said.
"Hey, Lollie."
She made her way towards him and sat down.
"So, how's it going?" Lollie asked.
Lucas smiled, "I've been better, what about you?"
"Well," Lollie started, "since you asked. There's this boy."
"A boy, huh?"
"Yeah, and I think this boy is head-over-heels for this girl he met and he might've hurt her along the way."
Lucas only looked at her.
"But she might've hurt him too."
"She didn't." Lucas said.
"She didn't?"
Lucas shook his head, "This boy really did fall head-over-heels in love with the girl, and maybe he still is. He knows what he did and he knows he's in the wrong, and he's sorry."
﹏﹏﹏﹏
"You and Noah." Maya said.
Riley, Maya, and Lollie all sat at the bay window.
"We are friends. That's all we ever were, what about you?"
Maya smiled, "We're going to try. Riles, you stepped back the minute you thought I had feelings for him. You were ready to give him up for me no matter what you felt."
"I would do anything for you two." Riley said.
Maya looked over at Lollie, "You and Lucas?"
"We are going to try, again."
"What's different?" Riley asked.
"Everything is different. We tried being that couple who put way too much effort."
"So, you and Josh?" Riley asked.
Maya gasped, "You know he's dating your sister?"
Lollie pretended to be shocked.
"No idea."
The three of them laughed.
"Thunder."
"Lightning."
They waited for Lollie.
"Oh, um, Boom?"
"Forever."
