Lollie Parker

Finn paced back and forth from the kitchen to the front door.

He had a wonderful idea, but he thought it was a bad one as well.

No one knew if the idea and he couldn't tell anyone because he didn't want to spoil the surprise.

But this surprise would change how Noah and Lollie would really see each other.
﹏﹏﹏﹏

At school Maya, Riley, and Lollie stood in the hole again.

"Why are we back down here in the hole?" Maya asked.

"Maybe, if we remember where we came from, we'll appreciate how far we've come." Riley said.

"That's real deep." Lollie said, "You miss watching the shoes, don't 'cha?"

"So much. Like 'em!"

She stared at the shoes that had walked by.

"Riles, it's possible that these here high schoolers may not appreciate your delightful quirkiness." Maya said.

"But you two do." She said.

"Yes, we do. Somehow." Lollie said.

"Love 'em!" Riley smiled, "You're better than that, Naomi."

The girl had kicked the side of her shoe against the pit.

"People don't like it when you give them good advice."

The three girls walked out of the pit.

"Wanna know what we're gonna do now? We're gonna go to class now. That's how embarrassed I am." Maya said.

"You're right. Academics are the number one priority in high school." Riley said.

"He's breaking up with me by text?" A girl asked.

"Who does that?"

"Who does that?" A guy said.

"Me thinks it's possible high school isn't only about our studies." Maya said.

"Is it just me, or is everybody up here a tad on the dramatic side today?" Riley asked.

There was too much going on for Lollie to even process.

"Somewhere safe?" Maya asked.

"Let's run." Riley said.

She grabbed Lollie's hand and grabbed dragged her to the bathroom.
﹏﹏﹏﹏

Riley, Maya, Lollie walked into the bathroom and saw every girl in there crying.

"You knew Jake and I used to date." One girl said.

"I did know it. I actually went after him just for that reason. I didn't even like him. I just wanted to make you feel bad." The other said.

Riley and Maya backed into the stall.

"This stall is taken for my emotions."

Lollie turned and saw a girl looking at herself in the mirror.

"What is going on here?" Lollie asked.

"It's Breakup Monday, you three baby butterflies."

"Butterflies. She knows us." Riley said.

"Who you calling butterflies?" Maya asked, "We are proud middle-school survivors."

"Middle school. A clear lake of untroubled spring water. High school is a bathroom full of these train-wrecks." The girl said.

"Is it just me, or is everybody up here a tad on the dramatic side today?" Riley asked.

The girl from earlier ran in and was still crying.

"Oh, she's here." Maya laughing.

"What is your name?" Lollie asked.

"I'm Sage."

"That's crazy." Lollie muttered.

"What's Breakup Monday, Sage?" Riley asked.

"In high school, you'll start going to Friday night parties. Someone will smile at you, you'll smile back, you are in love." Sage said.

"That's stupid." Lollie said.

"Love is forever." Riley said.

Sage scoffed, "Love is till Monday."

"Who hurt you?" Riley asked.

"Why Monday?" Maya asked.

"So everyone can have a full week of drama until the next party." Sage said.

"Why?" Lollie asked.

"Because they love that more." She said.

"Alan!" The girl paused looking at her phone, "Yeah. Alan!"

"Why would anybody love this?" Maya asked.

"We would never put ourselves in a position of drama." Riley said.

"Explain your current situation." Sage said.

"I like a boy." Riley said.

"I like the same boy." Maya said.

"The boy is my brother." Lollie added.

"Uh-Huh, what about you?" Sage asked.

"Her and her boyfriend broke up and she's now seeing someone else." Riley said.

"Am I really?" Lollie asked.

"Your friendship is over and now you've got your friend stuck in the middle." Sage said.

"That could never happen to us." Riley said.

"Why not?" Sage asked.

There was a brief pause then Maya spoke.

"Because there's no friendship like ours."

"I can't believe we were ever best friends." One girl said.

"But we are best friends, Peaches. Thunder!" The other girl said.

"No! Stupid rings are for stupid girls who haven't grown up. Well, I've grown up." The girl said threw her ring into the toilet.

"Nice shot." The girl in the stall said.

"I wish I never knew either of you. I moved here for peace and this is what I get! I don't even have a boyfriend anymore and you two have been no help with coping or anything! As my best- ex best friends you should have been there!" The other girl said.

"I wish you never crawled through my bedroom window." The other girl said and walked out.

"Well, that could be anybody." Maya said, "Thunder!"

"Lightning!"

Lollie looked at the two.

"Yeah, this ain't about the weather. You like the same boy and your friend is stuck in the middle. You have to make a decision." Sage said.
﹏﹏﹏﹏

Lollie ended up being the first out of the bathroom; Riley and Maya followed.

"We need to make a decision." Noah said.

"You've been to the bathroom, haven't you?" Riley asked.

"I'm never going back in there. I don't care what happens." Farkle said.

"Me too." Lollie said.

"Farkle and I have let this go on too long. It's 'cause your pain is hilarious to us. But we're not gonna lose each other over this." Zay said.

"What if someone gets hurt?" Noah asked, "I don't want anyone to get hurt."

"Oh, somebody's getting hurt. But I have been saying that all along, if you guys aren't gonna be honest with each other, everybody gets hurt." Farkle said.

The bell rang before anyone could say anything.

"Yay, school's over." Maya said.

"We have art class." Lollie said.

"That's the one I like." Maya said.

"That's the one that likes you." Riley said.

"What's the one I don't like?" Maya asked.

"Every single one of them." Lollie said.

"That's the one."
﹏﹏﹏﹏

Lollie didn't sit near Riley or Maya in art. She sat by Lucas.

"How've you been?" He asked.

Lollie wiped her forehead, paint now covering it.

She smiled, "Good. You?"

"Good. So? How's Charlie?"

"Good as far as I know. I don't really hang out with him as much anymore."

Lucas's mood quickly changed, "Oh, really, w-why's that."

Lollie shrugged, "I got tired of eating popcorn and licorice every time we hung out and I think we were better off as friends."

"Oh, good."

"Good?" Lollie questioned.

"I mean, good as it's good that you guys are still friends."

"Okay."

Lucas and Lollie? Huh? We'll see about that.
﹏﹏﹏﹏

Riley, Maya, and Lollie sat at the bay window.

"What just happened in art?" Riley asked.

"Forget that. We need to figure out this Noah thing." Maya said.

"Forget that, we need to figure out this Maya and Lollie thing." Riley said.

"I got a thing?" Lollie asked.

"The Maya you've always been would take nothing from nobody. He went after your art. Maya, your art is who you are. The guy went after who you are." Riley said, "Lollie, what's with the Lucas and Charlie thing?"

"There's no Charlie Lucas thing and if there was, what would matter?" She asked, "I know who I like and I know what I want."

Lollie's phone buzzed.

"I gotta go."
﹏﹏﹏﹏

Lollie sat at Topanga's by herself.

That's all she needed. Alone time.

She had her head on the table and she absentmindedly stirred her coffee.

It was almost nine o'clock.

Lollie heard someone sit in front of her.

She didn't care if it was a stranger or a person she knew. She just started talking.

"You know, the last time I cried was maybe a good solid, week ago. They weren't sad tears. The last time I sad cried was when I was being bullied. My friends were there though." Lollie said, "If I told you I got more and more irritated with my friend's quirkinesses does that make me a bad person? Does that mean I've changed?"

"No. It means you need to tell her how you feel."

Lollie peaked up and saw Finn sitting in front of her.

"Noah told me you were here."

"I need to stop telling him where I'm going."

"What's up with you?"

Lollie sighed, "It's just- Riley is like, bothering me a lot and I don't know what to do."

"Bothering you how?"

"She's just- I don't know what she is. I know she's my friend."

"If that's the case it should be easy, to tell the truth."

Lollie sat up and looked at Finn.

"I don't want to hurt her feelings."

"Aren't you hurting though? Aren't you just tired all of the time? Tell her, or you'll just might make things worse for yourself."
﹏﹏﹏﹏

Lollie slammed the door opened and rushed towards Maya, grabbing her face.

"Are you okay?"

Maya chuckled, "Yeah, I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"

Lollie let out a sigh of relief, "Riley said you were hurt."

The two of them looked at Riley.

"Fix them!" Riley said.

Maya and Lollie walked towards the bench.

"We don't need to be fixed." Lollie said.

"You know who says that?" Riley questioned.

"Who?" Maya asked.

"Somebody who needs to be fixed. Fix them." Riley said.

"What's wrong with them?" Topanga asked.

"Maya has been getting good grades, she's behaving all over the place. As for Lollie, she just seems off." Riley asked.

Lollie rolled her eyes.

"See! What is this?" Riley asked.

"Well, we like to believe that we've helped contribute to the perfectly civilized lovely young lady we see sitting before us." Topanga said.

"It's Maya and Lollie."

"Oh, yeah. We broke them." Topanga said.

"Yeah, I shouldn't be here. This is about my daughter." Katy said.

"I need you to look at her." Topanga said.

"Yeah, okay, look. Whatever this is, it is awfully kind of you to pretend you need me, but they have you! You have the best. Okay, see you in a month. Don't forget to eat." Katy said getting up.

"Uh, sit down." Topanga said.

"Right. See how good they are? I wish they'd take me in, too." Katy said.

"We've got a problem." Topanga said.

"I see twins and a girl who isn't in the right state of mind." Mr. Matthews said.

Lollie took a deep breath in and the thought of rolling her eyes just came into her mind.

Someone, everyone saw something wrong with her. She didn't even know what it was.

"Why is that a problem?" Katy asked.

"We only raised Riley. Katy, I need you to be a strong parent here." Topanga said.

Katy laughed.

"Okay. Can you play a strong parent? I'm gonna cast you in the role of "strong parent."" Topanga said.

"Maya." Katy started, "That's all I've got. Is there more than one line? I never get more than one line. Do you have a script?"

"It's an improv. Go." Topanga said.

"Oh, man. All right. Uh, someone yells out a place." Katy said.

"North Pole!" Mr. Matthews said.

"What are you doing?" Topanga asked.

"I wanna see what she does with it."

"Oh, gee. I'm sorry I haven't been able to get you very many toys, Maya. And I realize that Santy Claus and his family live right down the street here and they have all the toys in the world, dont'cha know. And they'd be only too happy to give them all to you, you betcha. But you're not supposed to be there all the time." Katy said.

"Why not?" Mr. Matthews asked.

"Cory!"

"Well, why shouldn't they be allowed to visit? Have they been good little girls?"

"Cory!"

"Oh, I think they would be better little girls when they visits you, yeah." Katy said.

"Then she should be allowed to visit all the time." Mr. Matthew said.

"Oh-ho! Me too!" Katy said.

"Katy, you really are very good, you know that?" Topanga said.

"Tell somebody."

"How was I?" Mr. Matthew asked.

"You were you."

"Thanks."

"You two have not been you. Come back." Topanga said.

"Guys, you've always been there for us. We're teenagers. No teenager knows who they are." Maya said.

"She's right, our brains are still maturing and our bodies along with it." Lollie added.

"Maya, Lollie, I know who you are. Even your art teacher says that this isn't you." Riley said.

"Wait a second, you're having a problem in art? How is that possible?" Katy asked.

"Well, he said that he wanted to know who their influences were." Riley said.

"People change people." Topanga said.

"Secret of blah blah blah." Mr. Matthews said.

"And those influences help you become who you are. It's why we choose our friends carefully." Topanga said.

"And good influences are only good influences when they help you find you." Mr. Matthews said.

"We are us." Maya said.

"Yeah? What'cha wearing, you?" Riley asked.

"You love what I'm wearing."

"Of course I love what you're wearing, Maya. I'm wearing it, too." Riley said.

"Lollie?"

"I'm me. Everyone is seeing something wrong with me and will not tell me. So, will someone tell me?"
﹏﹏﹏﹏

Lollie sat crisscrossed on her bed as soft music played.

She heard a knock on her door and paused the song.

"Come in."

Noah entered and sat beside Lollie.

"You think I'm different don't you?" She asked.

"Different how?"

"Everyone is telling me something is wrong and I don't see and I don't think I feel it."

Noah looked at her, "You don't think?"

"I mean- I know I feel something, I just don't know what it is yet."

"Where is this all coming from?"

Lollie stood up, "Exactly! Where is this even coming from? I was- or I thought I was perfectly fine, but then Riley said something and now I don't think I'm okay."

Noah stood up and grabbed Lollie's shoulders.

Lollie didn't look at him.

"Look at me, Lollie."

"No."

"Why?"

"I don't want to cry in front of you."

Noah pulled Lollie into a hug.

Yeah, he saw what was wrong but he didn't want to bring it up. Not now.

But, he realized that Lollie stopped expressing and it truly sucked.
