Peter stood in the middle of the lobby, his body numb as the Avengers moved around him. He wasn't exactly sure when they all arrived or how they knew where he was, but he really couldn't bring himself to care as he stared at the room of bodies that Loki had left behind.
After the man had left and Peter composed himself enough to check through the lobby rooms for any more of the hostages, he had reluctantly opened the room that Amora kept him in and was nearly knocked back in shock. He knew there were multiple attacks on people, he figured that they had been taken as well, but he never imaged that Loki could kill a whole room in such a little amount of time...
"Peter," Thor's voice called from behind him, a heavy hand on his shoulder. "Are you okay?"
"How could he do this...? How could he kill so many people and think it's okay? And he's killing them in my name, is that supposed to make it better? These people's deaths are on my conscience now! If he ever cared about me like I thought, he never would have done this!" Peter looked up at his uncle, his eyes burning as he tried to hold back his tears. "Why would he do this to me...? Was it all a lie? Was all this time we spent together a lie?"
Thor's grip on his shoulder tightened as he pulled Peter into his chest, both arms wrapping around him. "No... No, nothing was a lie. Loki loves you, he loves you more than he's ever loved anyone before. Because of that, he doesn't always know how to deal with those feelings in the best way. It doesn't help that his moral compass is constantly spinning in every direction."
"But I thought after all this time... I thought he enjoyed being a good guy..."
Thor let out a sigh, nodding. "From all the times that he betrayed me, pretending to be good but turning right back to his troublesome ways... I too thought he had changed for real this time. There is no doubt in my mind that Loki enjoyed the hero life with you at his side; but as I said, he loves you more than anything. And if protecting you requires him to fall back into old ways, unfortunately Loki will do so."
Peter's eyes closed as he buried his face deeper into Thor's chest. He took comfort in his uncle's arms, knowing that at least Thor somewhat understood how he felt and would never turn against him like Loki just had.
At the thought of his dad's betrayal, Peter's jaw clench and his fists tightened. "We have to stop him before he makes things worse for himself. The public was already distrustful of him before while doing missions with the Avengers, they won't ever trust him again - and if he keeps attacking people they may try demanding capital punishment."
"Loki is an Asgardian-"
"That's on Earth," Tony sighed, coming up behind them. "The kid's right, his race won't matter if this keeps up. There's already another meeting being scheduled with the UN about putting more restrictions into the Accords. Your brother is turning into a headache I've already had before, and I don't promise I won't slap him with a metal glove next time I see him."
"New restrictions?" Peter's eyes snapped toward his mentor, "You think they're going to try to set up the mandatory registration for enhanced again?"
Tony's face was serious, his eyes looking away and sniffing as he shifted in place. But then he looked Peter in the eyes and placed a hand on his shoulder, "That's possible... But I won't let it happen."
"But Loki might not think so." Tony's eyebrows pushed together in confusion as his head tilted at Peter slightly in question. Peter looked away from him though and up at Thor. "Could Loki try to attack the UN leaders if he thinks they would put my privacy at risk?"
Everyone froze at that, even the Avengers that were in the other room. Because if Loki figured out what would be in a stricter Accords, and if that put Peter at risk, who knew what Loki would do...
"Thor?" Tony looked expectantly at the golden man, though he felt as if he already knew the answer.
"Loki..." He glanced to Peter and swallowed hard, "If anything were to threaten Peter... We have seen what he is already capable of..."
Steve walked up behind them, clearly having heard what they were talking about. He leveled those sincere blue eyes at each one of them, "Find him."
The search for Loki was chaotic. Every minute of free time Peter had was spent searching the New York area; Loki hadn't seemed to leave the city, it was there that the majority of people who shamed Peter in any form went missing (the boy was actually a little worried that Flash would be on Loki's never ending hit list). He must have also been keeping a close eye on Spider-Man's activities as well, because the home invader that shot Peter in the side and got away was found dead not long after. It annoyed Peter more than he expected it to... He was out every night looking for his dad, and yet his dad was watching him and staying just out of sight.
Jerk.
To make matters worse, the UN meeting was set. Tony had looked over the new rules and to everyone's misfortune, they were making it mandatory for all enhanced to register... The rule was leaked as well, meaning there was no doubt that Loki knew about it. The world leaders were warned, but they were unbothered by the potential threat. They had even publicly dared Loki to attack them... The idiots actually believed that the Avengers would be enough to protect them - ignoring the fact that the Avengers didn't agree with what they were doing and may not provide the best protection.
That's what Peter liked to think at least. But he knew that they wouldn't let the leaders get hurt... Not intentionally. Probably. It didn't really matter, Peter wasn't going to be around them. His mission was to find and stop Loki before he attacked.
He only hoped that he would be strong enough...
"Incoming call from Tony Stark," Karen announced, Tony's face filling the screen in Peter's vision.
"Mr. Stark?" Peter's head tilted slightly, trying to judge the expression on his mentor's face. "Did you find something?"
"Pete..." Tony took a breath, "Did Loki ever mention to you anything about... robots...?"
"Robots?"
"Yeah, like... robots. Nothing? Nothing about prototypes from Shaw Industries...?"
Peter's grip on his webbing slipped, his already stalling heart coming to a full freeze as he free fell for a second longer than he would have liked. Sending out another web just before he crashed into the side of a building, Peter stuck himself to a wall and stayed there.
"Kid?" Tony's voice rang out, though it sounded far away to him. "Kid, you okay? What happened?"
"The Sentinel prototypes...?"
Tony was silent, rubbing a hand down his face. "You know it?"
"They... They hunt mutants... Loki had mentioned them before while trying to find the guy that attacked me... I didn't think he was serious though, not enough to steal from Shaw Industries...! Everyone knows that Sebastian Shaw is bad news, he won't like one of his creation taken from him! What was Loki thinking? He wasn't! It's so stupid! Ah, none of this would be happening if I had just listened to him when he told me to stay out of those stupid rumors! This is all happening because of me!"
"Hey, Pete, calm down... Take a deep breath." Tony's stern voice left no room for argument, his eyes locked on Peter's face in a way that made the boy submit to taking more than one deep breath. "Now listen, none of this is your fault. You didn't provoke anything, your dad just happens to be an overemotional diva. We'll figure out a way to fix this, okay?"
At Peter's nod, he continued, "The Shaw lab is in Long Island, I'm about to head over with Thor and Cap, but Loki's probably already long gone. The mutant that attacked you is already dead, I need you to figure out what Loki would use those prototypes for. I'll let you know if we find anything."
With a hand raised in a wave, Tony ended the call and left Peter alone to his thoughts. He couldn't help but notice that Mr. Stark was much more willing to share information with him now, his witty banter and secrets a very loud absence during this mission. Another absence Peter wished didn't exist.
Climbing to the top of the building, Peter started pacing the roof. What could Loki want with a mutant hunter? Was it able to hunt enhanced as well? ...What if it could do anything its master wished, would that mean Loki could use it to hurt normal people as well? The UN leaders? If that were the case, perhaps Loki knew that he would be captured if he attacked the UN directly... Sending in an unstoppable robot would definitely be a good way to avoid that.
"Peter," Karen's voice interrupted his thoughts, her tone urgent, "there are reports coming in of a robot attacking the mayor. Loki is there as well."
"Show me the fastest route now."
Directions appeared on his screen, Peter barely sparing a glance at the direction before he jumped off of the roof.
Following the route to the mayor's office, Peter pushed himself to go faster. He launched himself higher in the air, falling longer before shooting out a web and doing it again. One wrong move could cost him, but one wasted minute would cost the mayor more. And if Peter did crash and turn into a spider pancake, then maybe Loki would stop his rampage long enough for the others to talk sense into him.
When he arrived at City Hall, the people were still screaming as they ran outside, Karen automatically filtering the outside sounds and allowing him to hear his dad's voice from inside the large building.
Peter's heart quickened as he crashed through a window, the thought of coming face to face with Loki again made his heart pound so hard it actually hurt. But he wouldn't let that stop him from running down the hall that Loki's voice came from.
"Karen, thermal reading!"
The colors on his screen changed, showing the two men and one very large, heated object. The mayor was on the floor, crawling away from the Sentinel marching to him. Loki sat at the mayor's desk, seeming to watch what was happening.
The Sentinel raised its hand in an attack just as Peter came crashing through the door, shooting a web at the mayor and pulling him out of the way just before a laser shot into the floor where he once was. Catching his stumble, Peter made sure he was properly balanced before pushing him out of the door with the instructions to get to safety.
As the retreating footfalls of the mayor faded, the room fell silent as Peter and Loki stared at each other. Peter wasn't even sure if either of them were breathing. Loki's expression was calm, unreadable, intimidating, but Peter knew better after nearly a year of being together... Loki was just as nervous as Peter- he was just better at hiding it.
"You got here rather quickly," Loki finally spoke, an eyebrow arched as he leaned back in the chair. "Does Stark know how you endanger yourself when you push your limits like that?"
"He says I'd be in a lot more danger if he gave me rockets."
The side of his lips curved upwards, Loki's eyes looking across the desk. "I'm afraid I'd have to agree with him."
Peter's eyes flashed towards the Sentinel, large and terrifying. The black and red paint seemed to scream danger, and the robotic eye that scanned Peter sent his spider sense into overdrive. Every fiber of Peter's being wanted to get away from the machine, wanted to run away and forget it existed. Something about this robot made every natural and unnatural instinct in Peter go off, as if it was a predator and he was its prey.
"It won't attack you, child." Loki spoke again, Peter's gaze switched quickly to look at the man. He had leaned forward slightly, his expression changing into one that was more sincere and concerned. "I won't let it attack you."
"You...?" Peter took a deep breath, turning away from the robot. "But what about it...? Sentinels are supposed to be sentient; what would stop it then?"
"I would," Loki's eyebrows narrowed, as if offended that Peter wouldn't think of his protection. "I control it, and if it somehow managed to break free, then I would destroy it."
"Why would it listen to you? As far as it knows, you could be another mutant! And why do you even have it to begin with? Are you going on a hunt? Do you plan to get rid of all the mutants and enhanced too?"
"No-"
"So what's the point?"
"I can't tell you." Loki shifted in his seat, "But you shouldn't be involved. Go home to your aunt, Peter."
"No." Peter quickly slid a few feet to the side of the room, shooting a web behind the Sentinel and catching the real Loki's hand with it. He pulled on the web, yanking Loki backwards. The man cursed lightly before pulling his arm back, throwing Peter off balance.
"I do not want to hurt you, Peter..."
"I should really be saying the same thing about you." Switching to his taser webs, Peter took aim once again when a heavy and cold hand grabbed his shoulder and turned him around. He came face-to-chest with a metal body - but not the red and gold he would have liked. The dark red and black met Peter's eyes, sending his blood cold. The second Sentinel kept its grip on Peter's fist, pulling him up into the air to be on eye level with it. Peter's eye lenses widened, his free hand going up to grip the metal one holding him as he struggled to break free.
"Remember, I won't let them hurt you. But that doesn't mean that they can't hold you while I leave."
Peter heard the faint sizzle of magic, Loki's teleporting spell. Working his adrenaline up in his favor, Peter planted his feet onto the Sentinel's chest and pushed off with all his strength. His hand broke free, his suit tearing slightly and cuts breaking open on his skin, but he shifted and knocked into Loki.
They hit the window, Peter's eyes widening again at the breaking of glass before they were free falling. His mind was reeling as he looked around to find a place to shoot a web, but the four stories of the courthouse did not give him a lot of time or places to stop his fall.
An arm wrapped around his waist and pulled him into a hard body just moments before they hit the ground, a loud huff of air leaving Loki as he took most of Peter's weight from the fall. Peter, having only been slightly winded, rolled off of his dad and onto his knees next to him, eyes wide as he nervously shifted his hands over him.
"Oh my God, are you okay? Why did you do that?"
"Reckless... child." Loki groaned, pushing himself up. "What was your plan if I hadn't braced you? Become a human pancake?"
Peter's eyebrows pushed together, a scowl forming on his face. "If you would just be a man for once and stop trying to run away every time I want to talk with you, then maybe I wouldn't have had to push us out a window."
"You wouldn't understand-"
"Because you aren't making any sense!" Peter shot a web at Loki's hand, pinning him to the ground. "Everything you're doing is wrong! You think killing people is going to make the public like me? They're calling you a murderer! I'm the son of a murderer!"
"They deserved everything that I did to them!"
Peter didn't think when he reacted, his mind was on an angry autopilot and he didn't have any control of his body. His fist reared back and let loose on Loki's cheek, the two of them freezing as realization came back to Peter.
He just punched his dad.
He actually just punched his dad, that was Loki, the god of mischief.
As Loki's slacked jaw shut, his wide eyes narrowed, Peter felt like he had never made a bigger mistake in his life.
Loki's eyes were dark as he looked up at Peter, easily ripping his hand free of the webbing to touch his face. The skin of his cheekbone was an angry red, Peter knew that it would bruise over soon...
"Loki, I... I don't..."
A sigh passed through the man's lips, his eyes closing as he pushed himself to stand up. He dusted his clothes off before aiming those dark green eyes at Peter again. "Since I discovered that you are my son, I tried to raise you differently than how I was raised. I swore that I would be a better father than what Odin had shown to me. I would never make you prove yourself, fight for my attention, I would never look down at you and call you weak. I swore that I would never raise my hand against you."
"Dad..."
"Stand up." Loki held his gaze, his hard eyes never once softening even at the title of 'dad'. "Now, Peter."
Slowly, hesitantly, Peter stood up. His shoulders were slumped and his head lowered as he stared up at his dad. He had crossed a line, it was very obvious that he had made a mistake that 'sorry' wouldn't fix. He was confident that Loki wouldn't kill him... Mostly confident. But that didn't mean getting hurt was not one of the options.
"Perhaps Odin's theory of sparing the rod spoils the child had some truth to it..." That was all the warning that Peter received before his head snapped to the side and his body went after it. He stared at the ground, a pulsing pain on his cheek.
"Fight me."
Eyes widening and head snapping back to Loki, Peter barely held back his gasp. "What...?"
"Fight me." Loki held both of his arms to the side slightly in show, "If you win, I'll stop attacking people and take whatever punishment the Avengers deem fit."
"And if you win...?"
"You will go home and let me do my job as your father."
Tears welled up in Peter's eyes behind his mask, just the thought of them fighting... "Dad, I can't..."
Loki stepped closer, grabbing Peter's suit and pulling him forward. "You put this suit on to help people, right? The public calls me a murderer, why are you not stopping me? Your precious humans are scared, why are you not protecting them? I slaughter them! And yet you stand here and cry that you cannot stop me! If you won't fight then you have no business here! Go home!"
As he let go and stepped back, Peter felt as if his legs would give out. Loki wanted him to fight? Fight or go home? He couldn't possibly do either of those, how could Loki expect him to-
But that's exactly what Loki expected... He knew Peter wouldn't want to fight him, he was counting on Peter's reluctance to fight him - especially after hitting him. He was playing on Peter's emotions and the fact that Peter would rather go home than fight. Peter watched as Loki turned away from him, taking his silence as surrender. Eyes narrowing, legs steadying, Peter lifted his hand and shot a web out, sticking it to Loki's fist and yanking it back.
Loki's eyes were wide as he looked to Peter, a sort of disbelief in them that spurred Peter on more.
"I don't want to fight you, I just wanted to talk... To think about this and try to understand... But I can't let you hurt anymore people. So I will fight you if that's what it takes to protect them."
A hardness passed through Loki's eyes, the two staring at each other once again. "Then so be it."
Grabbing the web, Loki pulled Peter closer to him, fist raised for another punch. Peter ducked out of the way, using his momentum to pass Loki and wrap the still connected webbing around him. He pulled the web taught, tying Loki's legs together. The man lost balance for a second, his eyes widening before returning to their natural narrowed state and bracing his legs. With little strain, the webs broke apart.
As soon as he braced his stance again, Loki lifted his arm and threw a dagger at Peter. He narrowly dodged, moving just enough out of the way for the blade to skim just past his arm. As he turned back to face his father, Loki was suddenly in front of him - much closer than he should have been - and planting a heavy boot against Peter's chest and kicking him away. Peter went flying through the air and crashed through the wall of a building.
Laying in the rubble, Peter took a moment to breath. While that kick and crash hadn't hurt too badly, he's definitely been through worse, he was still winded more than what the fall did to him. Loki knew that he was stronger, it would have been nice if he could have held back at least a little bit... He was on a completely different level than what Peter normally faced.
"Mr. Stark and Thor have arrived. Controls overridden, patching Mr. Stark through."
"Kid!" Tony's face appeared on his screen, "The hell are you doing fighting Loki by yourself? This fight is no match for you!"
"I have to stop him...!"
"Listen, I know he's your dad, kid, but he just kicked you through a wall. Maybe it's time to consider that his motives really have changed from when you knew him."
"No!"
"Peter!" At Tony's raised voice, Peter flinched and bowed his head, remaining silent as he continued after a breath. "Go home to your aunt. You don't want to be around for this, kid."
Peter's eyes closed tightly, grabbing his mask and yanking it off his head with a frustrated scream. Everyone wanted him to go home! Why couldn't they see that he could help? This is his fight with his dad, not theirs! If he just had a little more time... a little more power, he could stop Loki and bring him back to normal!
"Power is what you seek?"
Peter jerked as he looked around for the voice. He swore that this building had been evacuated shortly after he arrived. But he couldn't see or sense anyone nearby... Just the feeling of a presence that was both subtle and demanding of his attention.
"Answer, child."
"Y-Yes... To stop Loki and the Sentinels." His eyes scanned the room again, trying to locate the voice. But it was impossible. The deep echoing sounded like it came from within his own head, reverberating in his ears.
"Your heart is pure. I will grant you my power, which you so seek." A chill filled the air, Peter's attention being drawn to a shadow in the corner. Though it couldn't be a shadow from the way that it moved... It was more like a mist that floated through the air towards him. As it came closer, he could see that it looked almost like a small galaxy with a mix of deep blues and purples and specks of white. The temperature continued to drop the closer the mist got, a shiver running down Peter's spine - something he hadn't felt since his Frost Giant powers were awoken.
"Wait... Wait, don't come any closer...! What power? Tell me what's going on first!" Peter held a hand out in front of him in an attempt to halt whatever was nearing him - but it instead wrapped around his hand and traveled up his suit to his face.
"It will be over soon."
The mist rushed to him, filling his mouth and nose before Peter could even think to move back. Just as he started to react, a coldness so intense and sharp cut through his body. Peter doubled over, a scream building in his throat as his hands fisted on the ground. His body was so cold that it burned. It felt like his blood had frozen in his veins, strengthened by the stiffness he felt when he tried to move. He wanted to scream out for help, to get someone's attention. Loki would know what to do... But despite his pain and building scream, nothing was being let out. There was something blocking him from making any noise, something in his mind that was controlling his voice.
As suddenly as it happened, everything disappeared. Peter's world went dark without any warning, the ominous voice in his head the last words he heard before submitting completely to the darkness.
"Rest now. I will handle it from here."
~*LOKISON*~
"Stop this foolishness, brother!" Thor shouted as he used Stormbreaker to block a strike from one of Loki's daggers. "Can't you see that you are hurting Peter by doing this?"
"It is necessary for his protection! Why does no one understand this?"
Tony dropped down behind him with his repulsors raised, "Because you never explained it, reindeer games." The blast fired off, but Loki ducked a second before it hit him so that it landed directly on Thor's chest.
A growl left Loki as he brought his boot up and kicked Stark away from him, throwing a dagger at him before turning to face Thor once more. "Because of your damn Midgardian laws and the requirement of proof! I have no proof for it, but I know it is them!"
"You could tell us what you think they are doing! What harm would it be if we knew? We could investigate it properly!"
"Who would believe me if I accused the leaders of your governments of being Hy-"
"Loki!" A voice commanded from above, causing all three men to pause and look up. Floating a few hundred feet above them was a man in a strange bodysuit that was white from the waist down with dark blue lines crossing it, and a galaxy print from the waist up with large white circles that resembled constellations. The mask that covered his entire head was the same galaxy as the body, except for the large white eyes and dark red that covered the nose and mouth. In a way, the suit almost resembled Spider-man...
"Peter...?" Loki turned towards the person more, his eyes wide as he noted the similarities between this person and his son. They were the same height and build, and while this person's voice held a strange confidence and command to it, it still sounded the same as Peter's.
"For your crimes against humanity and the near assembling of the Tri-Sentinel," The man started, staring down at Loki through those angry white lenses, "Your punishment shall be death."
Loki's eyes narrowed, his daggers twirling in his hands as he got into a fighting position. "If you think imitating Spider-Man's suit will save you, I hate to tell you how wrong you are."
"My form changes according to each host. It is you that will not be saved."
An eyebrow quirked upwards, but Loki ignored the statement as he started to take a step forward but stopped when Tony stretched out a hand to hold him in place.
"Friday, do a DNA scan. Now. I don't like how he said that."
A blue light came out of the Iron Man suit, scanning the man that was in the sky. It took a second for the AI to process it, the three men on the ground waiting for the announcement.
"His DNA is altered and difficult to read, but that is definitely Peter Parker."
Loki's breath hitched in his throat, his eyes widening as he looked back up at the floating figure. "What happened to him...?"
"You said host?" Thor stepped forward, "Who are you? Why have you chosen Peter?"
"This child craved a righteous power that aligned with my mission, so I granted him the power he seeked by taking possession of his body."
The daggers in Loki's hands twirled, his eyes hardening at the figure. "Let my son go now."
"He will be released when my mission is completed."
"Wrong answer."
"Loki-" Thor started to reach for his brother, but he was already gone in a flash of green. Heads turning rapidly to find him, Tony was the first to pick up the movement above the possessed Peter with the help of his scanners. Loki stood on the edge of a roof, his body slightly crouched as he jumped. Peter's body turned a second before they collided, Loki's arm wrapping around his neck and dragging him downward. That was the intention, at least.
Peter only went down a foot or so until he stopped again. His hand raised in his signature Spider-Man pose, a red glow surrounding it as he brought it up to grab Loki's arm. Loki's teeth grit as he prepared for the inevitable pain that would come from his touch; a part of his mind wondered if Peter was awake inside of this entity, watching everything that his body was doing. The shaking of his voice when Loki told him to fight earlier, the tears that were most likely in his eyes behind his mask... What would Peter be feeling now while his body was being used to attempt to kill him? He imagined it was despair and self-hatred. God, he really wished that Peter wasn't awake in there.
Metal clicking together and a frustrated groan caught his attention again, looking to see that the hand that was once glowing red was now encased in a mental cylinder - courtesy of Stark. Peter cursed, reaching for the metal with his free hand and starting to rip it free. Loki's arm wrapped tighter around his neck, pulling backwards and forcing him down further.
"Give me back my son..."
"Only when you're dead." His arms spread out wide, an energy blast sending Loki flying off of him and tumbling to the ground. Feeling the hair on his neck stand up, Loki's arm stretched out and caught himself in a crouched position, looking around the battle field until his eyes landed on Thor. Stormbreaker was raised in the air, lightning coming down from the sky and centering around Thor and his axe. Loki started to call for him, warning him not to touch Peter, but his voice caught in his throat. Peter's form suddenly appeared in front of Thor, his arm pulled back - cylinder and all - and released his punch directly into Thor's stomach.
Loki had watched the two of them spar before, testing their limits. Thor had told Peter once to hit him with all his strength, one of the few opportunities to see how truly strong Peter was. The grunt of Thor then, soon followed by a joyful laugh when he realized he'd been pushed back a few feet, was nothing like the sound that just left him.
It was a half-choked gasp, the only sound heard before he went flying back. Through two walls that he could see, and many more that he could hear. He had seen Thor go flying in a fight before, but it was never from something like that... Wide eyes looking back to Peter's form, Loki's mouth opened in an attempt to speak, but nothing came out.
"Loki, you still have control of the Sentinels?" Stark's voice filtered through his mind, drawing Loki's attention to him. "Space Guy said something about assembling a Tri-Sentinel, think you could do it? Might be our chance against him."
Loki's eyes flashed back to Peter's form, "It could kill him..."
"Not kill, just until this freak gives up Peter's body."
It was silent, the two of them watching as Peter slowly turned back to them. "Alright."
Tony lifted into the air, headed towards Peter; Loki stood and began running to where the Sentinels were waiting to his next command. A part of his mind wondered how things had turned out this way. If he had just communicated with his family like Peter insisted, would it be different? Of course it would... The Avengers had a way around rules and uncovering things; if he had trusted them with his knowledge, then they would have most likely already finished taking out all of the threats to Peter in a way that did not involve Peter getting possessed.
He should have listened...
Why did he not listen?
As he neared the Sentinels, a hand reaching out to begin the magic that would merge them together, the one farthest from him exploded. Loki stopped in his tracks, his arms going up to block the debris from hitting his head.
"I will not allow you to fulfill your mission!" Peter's voice called from behind him, rapidly approaching. Loki barely had time to brace himself before he was slammed into, hitting the ground hard some feet away from where he was standing. Peter knelt over him, a cylinder-free hand raised once again with that threatening red glow, much brighter than before.
"Peter," Loki started, staring into the masked eyes, "I'm... sorry... for not listening to you before. It is my actions that caused this to happen to you, that caused you to do this. Put your blame on me when you awake, don't blame yourself."
"You think calling to him will save you?" The lenses narrowed, hand clenching into a fist as it started to lower towards Loki's face. With a final inhale, Loki closed his eyes. "Nothing will save yo-"
His startled gasp followed soon after by a loud thud next to his ear, Loki's eyes opened again, but soon widened at the sight above him. The suit was still there, but a part of the mask had melted away, showing Peter's tousled hair and a single teary eye. A glance to the side showed that his fist had connected with the ground, a deep hole around it like acid had burned through the concrete.
"Dad..." Peter started, a tear falling down his cheek, "Dad, I'm so- so sorry...! This isn't what I wanted...! Please, you have to leave, I don't know how much longer I can hold him back! He wants to kill you, please leave-!"
One arm lifted to place a hand on his shoulder, Peter's eyes widening as he was brought down against Loki's chest. "I'm not leaving this time. We'll find a way to fix this."
"Mr. Stark and Thor are already down!" His voice cracked as he buried his face into Loki's shoulder. "There is no fixing this!"
"Ah, but you forget, child, I am a god. One that is far superior to whatever it is that has a hold of you. I will not run away."
A broken sob left him, Peter's body shaking against Loki's. "You ran before..."
"Turns out even a god can make a mistake from time to time."
A weak chuckle left Peter then, the mask slowly creeping up around his head again. "I-I can't..."
"It'll be alright. I'll get you out again." He watched as the mask covered Peter's face again, his eyes hardening as the last bit of hair was swallowed beneath the entity. Moving quickly, the hand on Peter's back moved up to his head, peering inside at the creature's mind.
He thought he would feel Peter's fear and struggle, at least faintly, in the back of his mind. Like whatever was in control was shoving him into a cage. He thought he would feel Peter fighting. But whatever this monster was, was much different than he imagined. Once he connected with the creature's mind, he felt his subconscious sucked into it as well.
Against his will, Loki found himself floating in an abyss, a nebula of colors surrounding him. All around, floating like little planets in this twisted universe, were small balls of light. Each one radiating Peter's presence and voice.
Eyes widening, Loki looked around at the hundreds of lights as far as he could see as he realized he couldn't tell which one was his real Peter.
A/N: You wonderful, lovely readers must really hate me now... Ending on yet another cliffhanger. I hadn't planned to end it here, honestly. I have been stuck on an ending for a while now, and I was brainstorming with my best friend about this (she's an evil genius) and she gave me a really great idea. An idea that will be shown in the next chapter because I can't wait any longer to post this one. So really, it's not my fault this is happening XD
I do have quite a bit of the next chapter written already, and I know where it's all going so it really shouldn't take too long to post... hopefully. We'll see.
Thanks to my friend's brainstorming as well, please be on the lookout for a new Lokison story we're working on! It'll be called Lost and Found! Originally it was going to be another chapter in this book, but we kept tag teaming ideas at each other and it turned into a full length book. Honestly that was a really fun night XD
There's another story in the works as well, kind of a cross over between Captain America The First Avenger and My Hero Academia. I had a dream about Deku being Small!Steve and Bakugo being Bucky, and with the help of my evil genius best friend who honestly means the world to me and I would be stuck in an never ending writers block without, we created another story. At the moment, it's called My Hero, that could change in the future. I have the first chapter written, but am waiting until I have a few more before posting it. But the idea of Deku being a small, justice warrior chihuahua and Bakugo being the (mostly) level headed friend... *chefs kiss*
I hope you look forward to all the new stories coming up! And you should all totally follow my best friend because she's amazing. mimsicalwrites or leedraki on insta!
And now time for some pictures!
This honestly hurt.... Looking back at how happy Peter and Loki were to have found each other in the beginning compared to them fighting now.
Drawing Peter's Captain Universe suit was honestly one of the most frustrating things I've ever done. That white part.... I hate it.
Who wants more pain?? This was more first experiment with colored line art, so it's not the best, but I'm very proud of it. The shading on Tony's arms give me so much serotonin too!! Look at that!!
Even more pain! I braved watching Endgame for the first time since it came out and these were the results. I've never been so proud of my art before.
Tried a new style in honor of the Black Widow movie. I'm so excited but I know I'm probably going to cry so hard....
Frigga and little Loki moment because there's no such thing as too much. This was supposed to be paired with another drawing with Peter and Loki, but I didn't finish that one in time...
Finally, have some wholesome Peter and Loki watching the night sky. I like to think this is when they were first getting to know each other. Since the Compound is in the middle of the woods, I can just picture them going for a night walk and talking about all the years they missed together.
