Memory Lane-PartTen

~This pain is a strange pain...

Not burning,

Not freezing,

Not bleeding.

This pain is an emotional pain...

Melting a heart,

Freezing a heart,

Shredding a heart so that it drips crimson.

It is a pain of deeply buried memories surfacing through the swamp of a lost mind...~

I am floating.

Vanished.

Gone.

Yet, I am not.

And yet I am.

I am Alice falling through the rabbit hole. Falling hard.

I am angelic, flying in the heavens. Soaring high.

A long corridor splays itself chaotically before me, dizzy and menacing. Doors on every side, every surface, the roof, the floors.

Different doorknobs on each entrance. Different types of wood and plastic and metal. Different designs and styles.

I turn back, my movements fogged in the way dreams are. Confusing, disorienting, dreamlike.

A door greets me.

I wonder how a door can greet?

I place me hand upon the cold silver knob, twist and push.

I find myself in a room. A large room with huge shelves of books lining the walls.

Now, its hard to explain, but it's like in a dream where you are watching the events taking place, but at the same time you're in the events, you are you, but your watching you. Like an out of body experience, but your still in the body.

I don't know how to explain it. Just figure it out.

I watch as a girl enters the vast golden library, or should I say I.

She/I, run her/my fingers over the spines of the books. She does not see the boy that sits in a huge chair observing her. He look irritated, but, as the girl moves to walk back out, he clears his throat.

She twirls around and gulps, wringing her hands nervously. The boy's face lights up for not even a millisecond with sly mischief.

"You should read one." He says, motioning to the shelves.

"Uh, I'm not-"

"Pick one, and sit down."

"Uh, ok."

Suddenly, I'm back in the corridor. I walk up to a tattered door with a rusty handle. Opening the door, I see myself, a teenager by now, washing the walls of the Asgardian castle. I'm exhausted, wiping sweat from my brow with my arm, careful not to fall off the tall ladder I'm standing on. I don't notice a teenager Loki watching me work with avid attention. He leans against the opposite wall, staring at me unashamedly. Then, he walks toward me as I sputter angrily at the pain in my should from scrubbing so hard.

"Hello," He drawls sweetly.

"Hi," I say, glad for a distraction. "Order me to stop working for a while."

He smirks, "Stop working."

Sighing, I sit on top the ladder, "Thanks."

He smiles, looking up at me.

Footfalls stop any more pleasantries from happening. I stiffen as I watch myself stiffen on the ladder.

Loki shushes me and turns himself into a snake, the pretty green type, just as Thor comes round the corner.

I watch myself scream in fake fright, and point hysterically at the snake, screaming "SNAKE!"

Thor walks up to it, "Fear not, maid. This is a harmless species."

"N-no-o, kill IT!"

"I will not kill it, but I shall remove it from your workspace." He replies.

I snicker as I watch Thor bend to pick up snake-Loki and see myself trying to hold back a chortle.

As soon as the snake is in Thor's arms, Loki changes back to his normal self, freaking Thor out.

I break out in laughter from my high position on the ladder, and, as a result, fall. It hurts just watching.

But, Loki acts in a split second. He catches me, and I stare into his blue (yes, blue) eyes. Thor's still angry at Loki, and he totally ruins the moment.

I'm back in the corridor.

I run to another door, this time at the end of the hallway. It's dark, cold, and ominous. Dark chestnut wood, engraved with thorns, and a black doorknob.

I place my hand upon it and try to twist it.

It does not budge.

It's locked.

"No."

I try to knock it down by slamming my shoulder into it repeatedly, but it does not open.

I cry, sliding down so that my back rests on the foreboding door.

But, I'm falling.

Cold.

Dark.

Scary.

Helpless.

Panic.

Panic! (at the disco) Panic!

Lonely.
