Meeting His Parents

You and Jane mimicked your boyfriends, taking a knee doing exactly what they were doing. This Odin fella oozed intimidation. He's the kind of man that when he says jump you must reply to 'how high' and 'when can I come down?' No wonder Loki was anxious to get this meeting over with.
"You may rise." Odin told the four of you formally. The four of you got to your feet.
"Father it's good to see you again." Thor boomed in his usual jolly voice.
"The feeling is shared my son." Odin replied to Thor. Thor gave his father an update of what he and Loki had been up to while they have been on Earth. It wasn't terribly long since they had come back to Asgard about a month before to help plan for the Harvest Ball and Thor probably updated his father about Earth then too.
"I see you have brought your lady with you." Odin told Thor with slight disappointment in his voice. The boys did tell you Odin had a dislike towards mortals. "Lady Jane was it?"
"Yes your majesty." Jane replied back formally and kindly. "It's an honor to be here."
Odin nodded then turned his attention to you. "And you are Loki's Lady?" Odin asked you even more disappointed that you were here. Odin has met Jane before and going off of Thor's stories had helped save the nine realms, of corse he would like Jane more than you. Not to mention he liked Thor more than Loki so most likely it would apply to you and Jane as well.
"This is (y/n) father." Thor said a bit confused. "We mentioned her before. She's the lady who just resonantly joined the Avengers. The best equestrian I have ever met." Thor told his father trying to remind him of who you were."
"Ah yes," Odin replied absently, "lady (y/n). And tell me what can you do?"
"I'm sorry your majesty." You apologized, "I don't quite understand the question. What can I do?"
"Yes. My understanding of my sons mortal friends is each one can do something no other mortal can. So what can you do that no other mortal can do?" Odin asked. "What makes you... special?"
"Umm..." you thought for a moment. What could you do that no one else on earth could do?
You could ride horses!
But then again so could almost all of your friends.
You could ski! Both water ski and snow ski!
But so could all of your family.
You could make people laugh!
But so could a lot of other people on Earth. Like Ellen or Jimmy Fallon.
Nope, there was absolutely nothing you did that made you special. Even Jane who was human, just like you, was insanely smart. She won a Nobel Prize after all, and helped save the nine realms from a dark elf named Malekith. You won horseback riding competitions and the only elf you knew was Buddy the elf from your favorite Christmas show 'Elf'.
"I'm afraid I can't do anything that sets me apart from my race." You told Odin embarrassed and disappointed in yourself for being so lame. "I'm as average as they come."
Odin stared at you for a moment, sizing you up before leaning back in throne saying "I see," even more disappointed that you were here on Asgard. Odin talked with his sons a little more before he finally excused everyone to leave.
Loki practically drug you out of the Throne room when he was aloud to leave, not wanting to be around his father anymore then he had to. You were lost in thought as your group started up a conversation.
"What makes you special?" Odin's question kept replying in your mind over and over again making you feel like you were worthless.
"Are you listening (y/n)?" Loki asked you dryly still wearing his emotionless court mask.
"No. Sorry." You told him trying your hardest to keep your voice carefree and happy. You couldn't let them see that Odin's words got to you. You had to be happy and cheerful so you could bring smiles to everyone else's faces even if you weren't happy yourself. Loki was already upset about how the meeting with his father went. You being upset about a few hurtful words wasn't going to help anything. "What were you guys saying?"
"I was just informing Thor that I am going to take you to meet mother." Loki told you concerned, looking you over, trying to figure out... something. "Are you ok?" Loki asked, truly concerned, catching onto your emotions you were trying so hard to hide.
"Me?" You asked sarcastically gesturing to yourself giving him an equally sarcastic look. Loki nodded. "Yeah. I'm completely fine. I mean look who your talking to. I'm (y/n)! I'm always fine."
Loki gave you an skeptical look, telling you he did not believe you in the slightest.
"Really Loki." You told him seriously looking at him in the eyes. "I'm fine, just a bit... overwhelmed."
Loki studied you for a moment, obviously not wanting to believe you, before he gave up finding no lie within your words. You were not physically hurt, and you were emotionally overwhelmed with everything going on. You did not lie to him. He was your boyfriend, plus he could smell a lie from a mile away, it was unless to lie to the god of lies.
"You go visit mother." Thor agreed with his brother. He knew Loki loved his mother more then anything or anyone else. And that included you. Loki's mother would be able to calm her son down from his visit with his father. "I will get my lady settled into her room. She did not pack light." Thor told you and Loki gesturing to the bag that was slung over his shoulder.
Jane slapped him on the shoulder pretending to be mad. "I didn't want to be under packed while I'm here." She told Thor.
     "Of corse not." Thor teased.
"You'll be happy I brought all that when it comes in handy." She told Thor smiling up at him as he smiled down at her.
You yourself may not be overly fawned of Jane but you were happy that Thor was so happy. He was one of your good friends after all.
Thor held out his arm and Jane took it letting him lead her to the room she would be staying at.
"Now," Loki said sounding relived that it was only you and him now, "let us go find mother." He held out his arm for you and you took it.
*
Loki led you to the healing wing of the palace, his mothers domain. She was the best healer in all of Asgard and was the one who taught Loki how to use his magic.
He led you into a ginormous room full of strange medical equipment that you had never seen before. A lady with long hunny blond hair turned to see who was entering the room, her face lighting up to see Loki. Loki dropped your arm and half ran half walked up to her giving her a hug. The lady pulled away taking his face in her hands looking over him with motherly love.
"It's good to see you my son." She told Loki warmly. It surprised you to see how different Loki's mother was from Loki's father. His mother was kind and gentle. The kind of person you just wanted to be around. While his father was cold, and intimidating.
You stood back by the door awkwardly as Loki's mother cooed over him, asking him if he was getting if enough food, making sure he wasn't hurt, and asking how life on Midgard was going. You felt like you were intruding on their reunion, which you were.
"Mother this is lady (y/n)." Loki introduced you after a little while looking back at you. His mother looked towards you and gave you a warm smile as you waved to them awkwardly. Loki's mother walked up to you, the warm smile still playing on her face.
You dropped down into a low curtsy, even if it did look awkward since you weren't wearing a dress. "Your majesty." You greeted the queen formally keeping your head down. That's what she wanted... right? To see if her son is courting a polite young lady?
The queen grabbed your shoulders gently, guiding you up so you were now standing before her. She then wrapped her arms around you giving you a warm hug.
Your body tensed at the hug, not expecting that. You also weren't used to strangers touching you. You looked over at Loki, unsure what was going on. He just smirked at your uncomfortable situation, or at least for you it was uncomfortable.
"So you're the woman my son is courting." The queen stated when she pulled away looking you over.
"Yes?" You answered her like it was a question. If you were just meeting the queen, or if you met her before you met Odin you would be a lot less confused than what you were right now. You had just been shamed for being human. Looked at like you were nothing more than a small nuisance. You were ready for Loki's mom to grill you on who you were, what you do, and why her son should be dating you. Sure Loki had told you about his mother's kindness before but after meeting with Odin you kinda shut down to control your emotions.
"Come my children," Loki's mom bid the two of you taking your hand in her's, "let's go find somewhere more private to talk." She reached up to touch Loki's cheek with her free hand smiling warmly at him before dragging you from the room with Loki right beside her.
*
As you were dragged along you decided that you much preferred Loki leading you then being dragged. Loki just smiled at you like there was absolutely nothing wrong with the predicament you were in. The maids, servants, and important court people gave you funny looks as the three of you passed in the halls but non said a word.
The queen led the two of you to what you assumed was her room or most likely her suit. She led you into an enormous room full of big beautiful comfy chairs, expensive looking rugs, and elegantly carved furniture. There were four pairs of doors in the room, one that led to the hall, one that led to her own personal balcony, and the other two you assumed led to her bed room and bathroom.
The queen let go of your hand and went over to a cluster of chairs and couches around a beautiful little coffee table. She sat on of the couches then gestured for you and Loki to do the same. You looked over at Loki wondering what in the wide wide world you have gotten yourself into.
"Come along love," Loki chuckled, "mother wont bite." So you let him lead you over to the couch that was directly across from his mother's . You sat down with him settling down right next to you. You grabbed his hand when he was settled trying to hold onto something familiar. You weren't necessarily a shy person but you were still young and human. Anyone here could snap you in half like a twig and not even break a sweat. And you were in the presence of a queen. You really couldn't mess anything up. The last thing you wanted was for Asgard to go to war with Earth and you had a feeling Odin would do anything for his wife. If you offended her that would be it.
Loki let you grab his hand giving you a reassuring smile. His mother smiled at the two of you, Loki would never let just anyone touch him, even if it was just his hand. Him letting you touch him spoke volumes to her.
"I'm Loki's Lady mother, Frigga." Frigga told you kindly. "It's a pleasure to meet the lady my son has told me so much about."
"The pleasures all mine your majesty." You told Frigga formally bowing your head in respect.
"You can drop the formalities dear. Frigga will do just fine. So tell me, how did you and my son meet?" Frigga asked you gently, happily, trying to calm your nerves you were trying so hard to hide but couldn't.
Loki's mom Frigga really did seam nice and she seemed to understand why you were so nervous. So you told her the story how you and Loki met. You told her how you got into the Avengers in the first place, how you save Morgan Stark, how you and Loki became friends, and what your role was. You also made sure to tell her how amazing Loki was and how much fun you have had with him. Loki smiled at you hearing the story from your prospective instead of his. He also preened under all the praises you were giving him.
Frigga did end up grilling you on who you were, what you did, and why Loki would be dating you, but she was so nice and welcoming that it didn't feel like you were getting grilled. You and Loki spent a few hours talking to Frigga before a maid came in telling the three of you that dinner was going to be served in a little bit.
"Thank you lady mother," Loki bid Frigga as he stood up, "I always enjoy our conversations, but me and my lady should go make ourselves presentable for dinner."
"Of corse my son." Frigga told Loki kindly.
"Do you need any assistance?"
"Thank you for the concern but I do believe I can handle myself and my lady." Frigga nodded then turned her attention to you.
"It was a pleasure to meet you dear." Frigga bid you. You smiled at her about ready to say your thanks when Loki cut you off.
"Let us go love." He bid you extending a hand out for you to take. "We have much to do and not a lot of time to do it." So you took his hand saying your thanks to Frigga as Loki walked you out.
