Heat Exhaustion
Loki planed to take you on the date on Saturday, the day after your reining competition. This week was going to be extremely busy. You and Loki were going to be announced as official Avengers on Thursday, you had a horse competition on Friday, then you had your date with Loki on Saturday. Luckily for you the team was giving you the week off of training so you could focus on training with Blaze for the reining competition.

Today was Wednesday, you've been training for the past 2 days nonstop. Even though it was getting closer and closer to Fall today was extremely hot outside, someone should really tell the weather to start cooling off. Loki was inside the tower hiding from the heat, he was a frost giant and didn't do well with anything hot. He hadn't told you or shown you that he was a frost giant but Thor had told you.
You were walking Blaze down after your practice when you started to not feel so good. You tried to ignore the sick feeling in your stomach and you drank more water trying to get rid of the feeling. You continued to take care of your horse, brushing him, picking out his hooves, putting him in his stall and making sure he had water when the sick feeling kept getting stronger. The world started fading in and out, getting dark then getting super light.
You started to stumble out of the barn when the world started to spin, you stumbled and tripped falling on your knees. One of your horseback riding teachers saw you fall and came over to you. When she got to you you had already struggled to your feet and were trying to get to your car again.
"Are you ok (y/n)?" Kate, your horseback riding teacher asked concerned.
"Ya," You said like you where not ok, your voice was kinda loopy, "I just can't see anything at the moment and the world is spinning. But other then that I'm fine." You stumbled a few more steps and almost fell again when Kate grabbed onto your arm to steady you. She studied you, sweat dripping from your face, and swaying back and forth unable to stand up right.
"I think you have a case of heat exhaustion. Again." Kate said exasperated scolding you. "you should have gone home a while ago when you first started to feel like this. You know what it feels like."
"I know." You said trying to look innocent but failed miserably only looking very loopy dizzy and sick. "But I needed to work today. I can't come in tomorrow."
Kate sighed heavily shaking her head. "You, Anna, and Lauren are the worst. How many times must you pass out from the heat exhaustion for you to realize you can't work yourself this hard?"
"Hey! I haven't passed out yet." Kate gave you a look so you added, "today."
"No," Kate agreed, "but you are almost there. I'm going to lead you to your car. You go home cool off, drink lols of water, and get some Gatorade. I trust your car can drive you home?" You nodded your head yes and Kate took you to your car. She helped you get in and asked your car to take you to the tower.

Loki was sitting on the couch reading a book waiting for you to get home. He looked up when he heard the elevator open. You stumbled out still light headed and dizzy but not as bad as you were before. Loki was immediately up on his feet coming over to you, worried over your current well being.
You looked up at Loki giving him a weak smile. "Hey," you greeted him.
"Love what happened to you? You look terrible." Loki asked extremely concerned, you were pale with sweat sticking to your hair looking like death.
"Thanks," you replied teasingly, "it's a new look I'm trying out. I call it 'the joys of being an equestrian on hot days." Loki gave you a look telling you he was not amused with your antics right now. "Fine," you sighed defeated, you really didn't want to tell Loki how hard you were pushing yourself. He was already overprotective of you out on missions because you were human, he didn't need any more evidence for just how weak humans can be. But you knew there was no way for you to get out of this conversation. "I got a slight case of heat exhaustion." You could tell by Loki's face he was getting even more worried, "Don't worry," you assured him, "I've gotten it before. It's just when the heat outside gets too much and your body tells you your over heating, like a car. I just need to water off, drink some cool, and something about Gatorade. No, wait," you thought for a moment your terribly foggy brain making it extremely difficult. "Cool off, drink some water and Gatorade, then I'll be completely fine. Now if you excuse me I feel grimy and gross so, I will go take a shower."
You were about to walk away, or stumble away, when Loki grabbed your forearm to keep you there, he then took his other hand, that was now blue, and put it on your jugular vein on your neck. You hummed in delight and melted into his cold icy touch. Loki led you to the couch and tried to sit you down but you objected.
"Loki," You whined at him, "I feel gross, I need a shower."
"No you need to relax and cool off." Loki countered trying again to push you onto the couch but you still resisted.
"How about a deal?" You asked Loki, sure you really did just want to sit down next to Loki and rest, but you felt super gross and needed a shower. Loki raised an eyebrow inquizidly, wondering what deal you could possibly come up with to make him agree. "I go and take a ten minute shower, to go get clean and not smell like I was born in a barn. Then I will come down here and let you take care of me."
Loki thought over your deal for a moment. "With no arguing?" Loki asked you firmly, you hardly ever let him take care of you, let alone not argue as he did. He always liked looking after you, a little mortal, and that was exactly why you would almost always put up a fight. You didn't want to be seen as weak, but this time, for today, you would let him.
"No arguing." You agreed.
"You get ten minutes, and I'm timing. If your not down here in ten I will come up to your bathroom and drag you down here to rest." He told you firmly, you weren't sure if he was teasing or telling the truth, so you quickly left to your room to take a much needed shower.
*
You took a super fast shower then changed into something comfortable. You walked out of your room and ran into a human shaped wall again, who again, so happened to be Loki. You stumbled backwards on impact not expecting him to be there. Loki caught you by your shoulders to keep you from falling.
"Loki I was on my way down." You told him a little upset he didn't believe you would be ok for ten minutes.
"I know," Loki said with care in his voice, "But your trainer called. Kate? She told me you almost blacked out and wanted to make sure you were resting."
"Of corse she did." You said exasperated. How many people where going to treat you like a porcelain doll until they got it through their thick heads you could take care of yourself?
"She only is worried about you love." Loki said tenderly. "As am I. Now that I know you work yourself ragged..."
"I'm ok Loki," you told him with a warm smile.
Loki looked over you and sighed, "I just don't want to lose you." He confessed, "your... valuable to me."
You felt your heart warm at that and tears of happiness well up in your eyes. You wrapped your arms around Loki's thin frame and hugged him close with Loki hugging you back. No one, other then your own family, had ever told you you were worth something. Heck you never had a real friend, someone that you shared everything with, someone you would give everything to be around, and someone that would want to be around you and tell you how much you meant to them. In high school when you got surgery on your ankle and were home bound for a week no one visited or even called you to see how you were doing. That was just one time you realized you had no true friends. But now Loki saying you were valuable to him made you want to cry from pure joy.
"And your valuable to me to Loki." You told him still hugging him as if you let go he would disappear. The two of you stayed like that for a while longer until Loki pulled away.
"As much as I love standing in this hall," Loki teased, "I would much rather have you resting on the couch." You nodded and let Loki lead you to the living room.
When you got there you and Loki sat on the couch. You snuggled up to Loki's cool body breathing in his sent. He smelt like a winters morning, and mint, you loved that smell. Loki stroked his fingers through your hair, his hand warmly glowing with his green magic trying to use it to get you to sleep. You drifted off listening to the sound of his heart beat and the comfortable feeling of his fingers massaging your scalp.
You felt him relax when you where safely in his arms and being properly taken care of by him. He kissed your hair saying, "sleep well love." Before you let Loki's sleeping magic and your own tiredness take you into unconsciousness.
