Loki - Jumper
About: Loki and you have been assigned to go on a mission. You end up hurt and Loki blames himself for it. You stop talking to each other, until a jumper reunites you again.
Tony Stark had big plans.
And as usual, he'd make the Avengers the victim, more specifically, you and a certain God. Your best friend and partner in crime; Loki.
He'd told you to get information from someone in a highly secured building, almost impossible to get into, impossible to get out.
You doubted it would work out. But even if it did, Tony assured Loki could just 'poof' you away. You didn't even know what information Stark wanted, so the plan was simple, just download everything on their computer. That is smart... right?
With Loki by your side, you hid in the bushes, observing how a few people guarded the building.
"This is ridiculous," Loki murmered under his breath. "Stark couldn've send that Ant guy. He could slip in unnoticed. But no, send in a giant with his Midgardian friend! What a marvelous idea!" he hissed.
"Shush, Loki. They'll hear us," you said while slapping a hand in front of his mouth. You eyed as the men ended their shift while Loki licked your hand. You didn't budge and kept your fingers clamped around his mouth. "Now."
You pulled him along and slipped passed the gate, into the building.
"It's not like I am wrong, darling. Ant guy can easily-" You pushed him into a corner as a guard skided from across the corridor. You pressed your finger against his lips and he scowled at you. "Can you stop doing-"
"Shut. Up," you said. "You're going to get us caught."
"I am a God. I don't get caught," he argued, catching your wrists in his grip, smiling down at you.
"Good, keep it that way." The corners of your mouth curved up as your turned around. "What way is it again?"
Loki chuckled softly next to your ear as he bend down and put his head on your shoulder, pointing to the stairs.
"Up the stairs on your left," he drawled. "Honestly, Y/N, do you ever listen?" You huffed.
"Honestly, no." You grinned from ear to ear.
"Come on, the longer we stay here, the more chance we get at being caught." He took your hand in his and led you to the stairs. "Last one up is the weakest Avenger," he whispered before sprinting up the steps. You frowned pumped your legs as fast as you could to keep up with him until you eventually ran passed him and stuck your tongue out.
He grunted and tried to grab your leg, but he was your best friend, so you knew he would pull that stunt, you dodged him and reached the first floor first.
He playfully rolled his eyes and rolled up the sleeves from his white button up shirt, exposing his strong forearms.
"What's wrong? Sore loser?" you taunted, giving him a smirk. He curled up his nose, a bitter, but playful smile on his thin lips.
"A bit. I prefer to win," he whispered. "Alright. Left now." You nodded and pushed the doorknob down, entering the room.
"Idiots," you muttered. "They don't even lock their doors." He snickered and looked around at all the technology in there. You found the computer and starting downloading the data, fingers tapping away while your eyes flicked around on the screen.
Loki stood by the door like a loyal dog, guarding the door.
Minutes passed until Loki backed into the room with his hands up in surrender. You looked up from your screen to see him being surrounded by tree guards.
"Good evening, gentlemen," Loki spoke in his velvet tone. "I'm sure we can talk about this like mature-" The tall men lashed out with a blade, which Loki dodged. "Don't like talking? Noted."
Loki drew his dagger, smirked at the men, and lurched foraward. Eyes widening, you did your best to take all the information that was on the computer, putting it on a stick.
Loki blocked a punch and hurtled one of his daggers towards a guard, who fell backward against the wall, remaining lifeless. He plunged his other one in the men's chest that attempted to trap him in a corner and he too fell to the ground.
As you downloaded everything, you took the stick out and caught Loki's attention.
"Got it all!" you screamed. Just then a few more men entered the small room, outnumbering you. One held you in a vice grip from behind, the others blocked the door. "Loki!" His eyes seemed worried as the man that held you brought a switchblade to your throat. You threw the stick toward your friend, who caught it effortlesly.
"Let her go," Loki said lowly, the hairs on your neck stood up straight as the man pressed the blade further in your throat. A single drup of blood slid down your neck and you gulped, pressing into the man in a faint attempt to escape the sharp edge.
"If you give us the stick, then it's all settled," spoke the man in black. Loki smirked.
"I'm not going to negotiate with someone like you," Loki uttered, licking his lips as his eyes focused on the blade. The men in front of the door made a move to hurl Loki to the ground, but the man that held you shook his head. They remained still.
"Last change, give us the stick."
Loki gave you a look full of desperation and you shook your head.
"Don't give it to them," you mouthed. His gaze locked with your agressor.
"No," rang his final decision. With that, he eluded the other men that lurched towards him and chucked on to the ground, he reeled his dagger towards another as you snapped your foot up and smacked the man's knee, kicking him away from you.
"Bitch!" he hissed at you before grasping your wrist so you both fell to the ground. You plunged your knee between his legs and he groaned.
You let out a shriek, then your teeth clenched together as you grasped your wrist. The man had slashed your skin, blood swept out of it. You took harsh breaths and hissed through the pain evoking through your wrist.
Tears formed in your eyes, the corners of your vision blurring until your head hit the ground and you slipped into darkness.
Loki swung the men back and ran over to you, thrusting the man that slid your wrist aside before teleporting away with you.
You woke up to a soft mumbling around you. You kept your eyes shut, the sting in your wrist making it hard to focus on what was being said:
"-should be healing. Although it will take awhile." The voice was soft, greeting you like warm drups of water in a hot shower after a long day.
"She almost died!" You recognized that one as Loki's voice, gruffy and worn out.
"She didn't." That was Stark.
"If you didn't send us on that mission, everything would be just fine!" Lazily, you opened your eyes, taking in your surroundings.
"Let it go, Mischief. Everything is fine. Bruce said it, she'll heal," Stark retorted.
You wailed, as their bodies were just like blurry edges clouding your vision. Groaning, you sat up straight, hissing at the sting in your wrist and the dull throbbing in your tummy. You felt slightly nauseous.
"Y/N," Bruce greeted you, a soft smile adorning his features, as he pushed his glasses further up his nose in a nervous gesture. "Welcome back." You sighed and let your head fall back against the headboard of someone's bed.
"What?" you croaked, voice strained.
"You almost died," Loki said through clenched teeth, fighting back a snarl. Your face turned as white as chalk.
"But you didn't," said Stark, giving you a thumbs up. "And we got the information that we needed. Good job, Y/N." You gave Tony a tired smile and looked at your wrist, that was covered by a white bandage.
You also noticed you were wearing just an oversized shirt.
"Leave us alone," Loki sneered at the two scientists. Bruce nodded politely.
"Make sure she takes her medication," he told him before taking his leave with Tony.
His piercing gaze made you feel uncomfortable. You licked your dry lips and adverted your eyes to your hands that were resting on your lap. His nostrils flared with every breath he took, jaw flexing before he spoke.
"I hope you realize how lucky you are," he spat. "You could've died!"
His hands clenched into fists.
"This wouldn't have happend if you worked faster. This really is your fault. You know, Y/N, I was right." Your eyes widened at the bitter tone he was using against you. "Mortals are really a bunch of idiots. What a waste of a planet. I should've killed you all when I had the chance."
"Loki-"
"Don't interrupt me, quim." Tears welled up in your eyes and you blinked to keep them at bay. "Out of all the Avengers, you are the most useless one. Relying on someone else to save you. Pathetic."
He stormed out of the room and left you alone. You started crying, his words repeating over and over inside your head as if he had physically slapped you across the face.
You didn't spoke to him in days. He didn't came to visit you, and once you were allowed out of bed, you didn't went to search for him. His words still fresh in mind cut almost deeper than the knife in your wrist.
He is your best friend - or was - you weren't even sure anymore and your mood slumped. You missed him terribly.
One day, almost a week later, you were in the bathroom, getting changed into your pyjamas when you spotted a green jumper of him hanging over the bathtub. You went over to it and held in onto your chest, sniffing his scent. Mint and bergamot.
The smell made you tear up again and you hugged the large jumper. God, you missed your best friend so much. This was all your fault. If you had worked faster to recieve that information, you would not be here.
Instead of putting on your pyjama shirt, you put on his jumper, staring into the mirror for awhile, a tear gliding down your cheek, one that you quickly wiped away.
You looked at your wrist with a look of disdain, hating the constant reminder of losing him. Which reminded you that you had to change the bandage.
You went over to the couch in Stark Tower. It was three in the morning, so everyone was alseep anyway. Carefully, you peeled the bandage of your wrist, winching and panting.
The bandage came off and you took a breath of relief.
A rustling to your left made your head snap up and freeze on the spot.
Loki stood near the couch, face soft and blank. You wondered what he was thinking. Realizing that you were staring at him, you looked away and grabbed the balm Bruce had given you, smearing it across the still healing wounds.
Loki took a steady breath.
"How's your wrist?" he asked quietly. You shrugged, biting your lip.
"Hurts," you whispered. He nodded, and hesitantly sat beside you. Your heart sped up, anticipating his next words. Maybe scolding you at how pathetic you were. You flinced at the thought, he noticed.
His eyes scanned the supplies you were using to cover up your wrist. He took the new bandage and carefully took your wrist, tenderly wrapping it around it.
"Look, Y/N," he said, eyes on your wound that slowly disappeared under the bandage, "I'm sorry I snapped at you. That was uncalled for. This really isn't your fault and I'm sorry. I know I hurt your feeling when I accused you of saying it did."
He licked his lips as if he was nervous.
"It was my fault. If I gave the stick to them, they would've let you go. I'm sorry that you got hurt because of me." Your heart skipped a beat and your eyes widened at his confession.
"Uhm, Loki," you said softly. "This wasn't your fault. You were ri-"
"Neither is it yours," he stated. "I'm sorry." He finished wrapping the bandage around your wrist and secured it.
His eyes fell upon your shirt. His hand darted out to take the hem of it, observing the material. He smiled glumly at it.
"I missed you," you explained, eyes on your wrist, expecting to flee soon. You dared to look up at him, bottom lip trembling.
"Me too. Can I-? May I give you a hug?" His voice caught in his throat. You didn't answer him, just sat closer to him and leaned into him as he wrapped his arms around you, holding you tight.
You pulled away slighly, gazing up in his glazing eyes. He was tearing up, you realized. One tear slid down his cheek and you wiped it away.
"Are you still angry with me?" you asked him. He shook his head, taking your hand in his and giving it a light squeeze.
"I never was, Y/N," he whispered. You smiled softly and gave him a hug, holding him tighter than ever.
