Loki - A spare movie ticket
About: Loki has one spare ticket to go to the movies. Everyone is keen to accompany him. But it's tonight... He takes the only person available that evening with him. He ultimately ends up ruining the whole night, but comes up with a solution for it in the morning.
You itched closer towards the noise coming from the kitchen, everyone seemed to be discussing on a certain subject you didn't know of. Reaching the kitchen, you saw Loki standing near the table, along with Natasha, Tony and Bruce, oh and Thor stood in the corner, eating Poptarts. You smiled as he waved at you, you greeted him politestly, before turning towards the God and the other Avengers.
"Hey, what's up?" you asked, Loki immediately scoffed at your presence, which he often did, he made sure to make it very clear that he disliked you.
"Reindeer Games got two free tickets to go to the movies, got one spare ticket, so, who you taking Mischief?" Tony rambled, putting a hand on his heart. "Remember I let you live in this Tower." Loki frowned.
"What movie is it?" you asked curiously. Natasha smiled, winking at you.
"House of Gucci," she said. "I heard it is really good, but I haven't had a chance to watch it, so, lackey, you're taking me right?" Loki rolled his eyes, a faint smile on his lips.
"You happen all to be free, tonight?" Loki drawled, twirling the movie tickets between his fingers. Their faces dropped.
"Tonight?" Bruce asked, his face falling. "Oh, Nat, director Fury send us on a mission." Natasha nodded.
"I'm really sorry, Loki, we're out, apparently," she huffed. Loki pressed his lips together, nose curling.
"Stark? You free?" Tony sighed, shaking his head.
"Nope, Miss Potts gave me homework," he stated. "I really want to, though." Loki hummed, looking around the room. Your heart fluttered and you took a deep breath, opened your mouth to speak up, but the words failed you when his gaze didn't even graze yours. He looked right over you to Thor.
"Brother?" he said with hesitance, you stomach dropped. You would love to see that movie. Even more with him. Thor chewed on his last piece of Poptart, cleared his throat and shook his head.
"I have plans with Jane. I booked the loveliest restaurant in town just for us," he said proudly.
"McDonalds isn't the place to ask her to marry you," Tony said once again. But Thor had wisely rejected that advice from the beginning.
"Keep outside of this, Man of Iron." Just then, Clint walked in the kitchen, carring his arrow all suited up.
"Clint, are you free tonight? I've tickets for House of Gucci, the singer you're so fond of," Loki started off.
"Oh!" Clint said enthusiastically. "Rah rah-ah-ah-ah, roma-roma-ma! But no, I'm not free, but yes, I love that woman! She's amazing!" Loki's face fell.
"I guess I'm going all by myself then," he huffed, throwing the tickets on the kitchen table. Natasha frowned, stealing a glance from you.
"Why don't you take Y/N with you?" Your heart jumped at her little statement, stomach flipping and breathing coming out a little faster than usual. Loki rolled his eyes, didn't even acknowledge you for all he cared.
"Yeah, I like Lady Gaga. I'd be happy to join you," you said, licking your bottom lip.
"Yeah, that offer is off the table," he sneered.
"Why?" you squeaked. Now he did look at you, lips pressed into a mailicious thin line.
"Because I despise you, you mewling quim. Haven't I made that clear over the past few months? And yet, here you are, sticking onto my side like a bloody leech." Someone just impaled a dagger in your heart. "In fact, I'm not sure if anyone likes you at all, that's why don't get to join us on missio-"
"That's enough," Natasha sneered.
You swallowed hard, eyes glazing with tears. You should say something mean back, but the words didn't come. Perhaps because he was right. Still, you mind searched and searched for a bad name to call him, but could find none.
"Okay," you said instead, weak and unsteady. He scoffed and dismissed you and you took that as a sign to wander off to your room, where you silently wept, staring out of the window.
"Either way you take her to the movies with you, or I swear I'll beat you black and blue," Tony snapped at Loki. Loki rolled his eyes.
"As if you could hurt me." Thor scowled at his brother, went to look for a Poptart to give you, to cheer you up and left the kitchen.
"I know someone who could, Bruce, now is a good time to get angry," Natasha threatened. Loki's face paled and he shook his head fiercy.
"No, no Hulk. I'll apologize and I take her to the movies," he said with disinterest. He grapsed the tickets off the table and vanished.
"Next time he treats her like that, I'll thow him under a bus and I'll tell Thor it was an accident," Tony muttered.
You sat on your bed and startled when there was a knock at your door. You dried off your tears with the sleeves of your shirt, standing up from your chair and meandering over to your door, opening it to see Thor standing in the door opening.
He held up a box of Poptarts, grinning.
"Look what I brought - for you," he squeaked, pushing the box in your arms. You sniffled, a giggle escaping you.
"Come in, Thor," you said, sitting on your bed and tearing the box open. He closed the door behind him, sat next to you, stealing a cookie from your box.
"You know," he said, taking a bite from it, "you don't have to listen to my brother. He's quite the arse, but he means well." You frowned.
"I don't know Thor, I really want to believe that as well, but I don't see how insulting me-" You sighed and Thor rubbed your back. "It's been months and I've made no progress with him. I really want him to like me, I no longer desire him to be my boyfriend, I simply want him to like me. It is as if he is disgusted by my mere presence!" Thor patted your back, handing you another cookie.
"I know, my Lady... But I reckon he doens't feel that way about you. Sometimes he has trouble expressing his feelings. Open communication was never his forte." You licked your lips.
"Trouble expressing himself? The message hit home, Thor. I think I had better leave him alone," you said glumly. "It will save myself a lot of overthinking."
"Don't worry about it, Lady, I like you, focus on the positive people in your life, aren't I a bottle of sunshine?" You nodded to whatever that meant. Thor smiled, and then there was another knock at the door, which made Thor drop his Poptart from surprise. You giggled, and before you could answer, a slightly annoyed God of Mischief walked through your door.
"What are you doing here, oaf?" Loki snapped at Thor. Thor shrugged, gave one of his adorable toothy smiles and picked up his Poptart.
"Lady Y/N felt a little sad because of what you said earlier and I cheered her up - and will tell mother of how you treated this lovely Lady." Loki glared at his brother.
"You'll keep your mouth shut or I'll stab you again."
"I won't, now, stop blackmailing me and tell me why you are here," Thor said strickly, patting your back. You kept your eyes on the carpet at all costs. Your heart started racing and your surroundings spinned.
"I am here to take Y/N to the movies," he mocked, making a little bow of courtesy, a mocking smirk on his lips.
"Tony made you, right?" Thor said, rolling his eyes. Loki mumbled an affirmation.
"Very well, Y/N, do you still want to see that movie?" Thor asked you. You shrugged.
"It's all the same to me. If you really don't want me there, I won't. It's okay Loki," you muttered. He rolled his eyes, combing his fingers through his hair and sighing.
"I need you to come with me, who else is going to pay my taxi. Get ready in ten," he snapped. "And you, not a word to mom."
"Only if you're a gentleman tonight!" Thor shouted before the door slammed shut. You smiled at Thor. "Don't worry, he'll behave, sweetheart. And if he don't, tell me and I'll tell mother. She'll give him a painful lecture." He leaned in closer to you and whispered in you ear: "And Loki hates being lectured." You giggled.
"Alright, thank you, Thor."
"No problem, now lets pick out some clothes so you are the most beautiful woman in the whole theatre tonight!" He frowned, then explained himself rapidly while making panicked handgestures: "Not that you're not usually pretty, I mean, tonight we'll do an extra effort, no, that came out wrong, you're really beautiful now, I mean always!" You laughed.
"Thanks."
And thanks to Thor you wore a nice dress, and were now sitting in the theatre. Tony brought you there and made sure Loki didn't make you pay for the popcorn, instead gave you his creditcard and left with a kiss on your cheek, which for some reason infuriated the God even more.
But now you were sitting down, the popcorn in your lap while your arm rested on the armrest. The film hadn't started yet, the lights were still on and Loki sat next to you, arms crossed over his chest as he looked straight ahead, wearing his permanent frown.
His head snapped sideways and in one movement, he swatted your arm away from the armsrest and placed his on it, scoffing as you spilled some popcorn on the floor.
"Pathetic," he murmured. Your heart stung and you bit your lip, trying to focus on the trailers playing, but his words were louder than the soft music playing.
"Are you going to pout like that the whole time, ruining my evening even more?"You averted your eyes to the screen, blinking to keep your eyes dry. You frowned, biting your lip and drawing blood.
"Pout?" you whispered. "I'm trying not to annoy you, for God's sake." It came out quite harsh, but you didn't regret it, certainly not when his head snapped towards you with an expression of shock. So you went on. "You can't keep insulting me. Tonight you really crossed the line and you're smart enough to know it."
He didn't say anything, so you ignored his too. He was still looking at you though, gauging your non-existent facial expressions, biting his lower lip.
You were grateful when Lady Gaga popped up on the screen. Unlike him, that marvelous woman had alway been there for you, along with her great music. You loved her and smiled as her acting was amazing. Her accent was on point, and she was stunning.
You were pulled out of the movie when a cold hand took yours in his and guided it on top of the armsrest. Emerald eyes pierced the side of your head, but your eyes remained locked on the screen.
You snatched your hand out of his.
"Don't," you said, handing him the popcorn and crossing your arms over you chest, slouching deeper in your chair. The tension was thick.
As the movie came to an end, the light in the theatre switched on, people started leaving, but you both remained in place.
"Are you really not going to say anything to your crush, now?" he taunted, regaining some of his meanness back. You were boiling on the inside. "Tonight has been great right?" You looked him in the eye, face not giving anything away. That was it, now he'd really gone to far. You clenched your fists.
"I disagree," you said firmly. "And yes, you might be attractive and all, but when you're mean like that, that does cloud the feelings, pal. So do me a favour and leave me alone from now on."
The smugness finally left his face and he looked away, biting his lips before meeting your eyes again.
"Look, Y/N," he began. He swallowed, you listened. "I know I have been mean to you, but... I sometimes I... I tend to be mean to the people I like the most." You rose an eyebrow.
"That's supposed to do justice for all these months you bullied me? Insulted me for being me and for possibly liking you? No, thank you, I think we are quite done here." You stood up and left the theatre while he followed suit.
On the sideway, he walked next to you, none of you saying a word when you reached Stark Tower. The ride up in the elevator was eerily quiet. Your high heels clicked on the floor when you walked through the corridor and you disappeared in your room.
"Y/N-" Loki called.
"Goodnight," you said, before closing the door. You didn't really sleep that night. You silently wept, cursing yourself for being this mean to him too, but perhaps even more because you did love him, you did have a crush on him, but also because you couldn't let him treat you like that anymore. Your heart cried a hole in your chest.
You woke up with large bags under your eyes. You got up and strolled over to your door to grab breakfast. You opened the door and were met by a white tray blocking your way out. Kneeling down in front of it, you took in the golden plate, pancakes neatly piled up on it, accompanied by a glass of orange juce an three kinds of jam, a small rose adorned the tray, making the picture complete.
A small card caught your eye and you went to pick it up, your eyes gliding across the neat handwriting.
I know you don't want to see me now, but I made you pancakes.
I also regret making you feel this way. I'm sorry and I hope time will make you willing to fogive me. If you want to talk, I'll be in the library.
Enjoy the meal.
Loki
P.S. Some of the pancakes may be burned. Thor distracted me by giving me a lecture.
You unconsciencely smiled at the small note and picked up the tray to eat in in the library. Perhaps share the burned pancakes.
