Chapter Fifty Five - Break In Mission
AVENGER'S COMPOUND
"That is the fourth death this week." Sighed Nat, putting that file down with all of the information of the latest death, a SHEILD agent by the name of Robert Gonzales.
"They're using the cover of night to hide." Steve was looking through an identical file. "And whoever it is, they are are highly trained."
"But they can't completely hide." Clint spoke up, pouring himself a cup of coffee. "They have to be leaving some sort of evidence behind."
"JARVIS, play back the video of Robert's death again." Tony sighed, rubbing his eyes tiredly.
"Of course Sir." JARVIS replied and the TV screen and the end of the dining table lit up, replaying the video of Robert Gonzales death for the fifth time.
"We must be missing something." Thor said from where he was sitting in his chair.
"Yeah, no shit." Loki spat, slamming down his book on the coffee table. "Why can't any of you accept it, its Emily and Roger's cyborg friend. They're mind controlling them again, and we have to find a way to free them both."
"But how?" Sighed Nat. "We don't know where their new base is where they are keeping them."
"Why don't we just track her?" Asked Thor.
"They've disable the trackers in her bracelets." Tony shook his head, standing up and walking into the kitchen. "They must have destroyed them."
"We need to find another way to get a tracker on either one of them." Steve said, looking away from the video.
"How are we going to get a tracker on her anyway if all of her shots are long distance?" Asked Clint. "We can't see where they're shooting from until they've fired the bullet, and they're gone by then.
"What if we try and get her to come to us?" Wanda spoke up hesitantly. "Like use one of us as bait?"
"That's way to dangerous." Steve shook his head. "We can't afford anyone to be hurt."
"No, she might be onto something." Tony stepped down from the kitchen bench where he had been trying to reach the alcohol on top of the cupboards. "That could work, we need someone that can get away quickly though, but also who will be able to get the tracker on them without them noticing."
Everyone looked immediately over at Loki who rolled his eyes, crossing his arms.
"That makes sense." Steve said. "You'll be able to get out of there quicker than anyone else with your teleportation if something takes a turn for the worst."
"But where should we stage it?" Asked Thor.
"It's not a play Thor." Said Clint. "But how about somewhere in the open, she'll be able to find us quicker? They tend to target around the main cities on New York as well."
"Well, it's settled then." Tony said, taking a swig from a bottle. "Suit up everyone, we need to get there as soon as possible."

EMILY POV:
The Soldier and I had each driven a motorbike this time, because our next two targets were near a forest and with them, it would be a quicker escape.
As we reached the edge of the forest, I noticed the large silver building about 300 metres away. We cut the engines of our bike and hopped off, taking off our helmets and leaving them hanging it on the handle bars.
We began to walk right to the edge of the trees, cautiously, and waited a couple of minutes for any sign of activity.
"There are camera's everywhere." The Soldier said, pulling out his little disk and creating a 3D diagram of the compound. "The quickest and easiest way through is through there." A red line lit up on the diagram. "That will take up to what is appariently the luggage room. From there, we can climb up into the vents and until we are just above the Lab. You'll shoot the red buzzer of the wall and that will immediately open that power box there. Then, I will destroy that power box and the power will be out in the whole building. But not for long. We have a max of three minutes too find the targets, kill them and then get out of there before the backup power kicks in. Got that?"
"That is a lot of instructions, but yes, I think so." I nodded. "Can we go now?"
The Soldier nodded and we double checked there was no one around before darting out of the woods to the back of the building. We hid under the awning and I kept a look out as the Soldier quickly smashed the lock on the door and opened it. I checked no one was around before we both darted inside, shutting the door behind us. We both flicked on our torches and shone it up onto the ceiling where there was a silver air vent. The Soldier carefully and quietly jumped onto the shelves on the wall, causing them to creak slightly, and reached up to unhook the silver air vent. He put it carefully on the shelf next to him and swung himself up into the vent and I followed him.
The air vents were tight and uncomfortable, but at least we were in. I heard a voice, sounding partly robotic partly human and both the Soldier and I froze. We waited a couple of seconds before he started moving forward again and I followed. We reached the air vent above the Lab and the Soldier unclipped it, bringing it into the air vent. I shuffled in next to him and quietly loaded my gun before aiming for the red button on the wall. I shot it cleanly and almost immediately, it swung open to reveal a massive control panel. The Soldier jumped down and smashed it, all of the lights going out all around us. I jumped into the Lab after him and quickly noticed that none of our targets were there.
"Second place listed was gym." The Soldier whispered, bringing out the silver disk again and creating the hologram map. We darted out of the Lab and followed the the hologram map to the gym, however it was completely empty too. The Soldier changed the map to focus on their rooms instead, but when we got there, they were completely empty.
"We are running out of time." The Soldier whisper. "It won't be long before the back up generator kicks in."
"Let's try the games room." I whispered to him. "That was the second place listed."
He nodded and we backed out of the gym, jogging back down the hallway and around the building until we reached the games room. We silently opened the door, but as we shone our torch around, we quickly noticed that it was empty.
"We might need to try another day." The Soldier whispered to me. "It the generator will kick in in a minute."
"No." I shook my head, not wanting to fail a mission. "We still have time to check the kitchen."
The Soldier muttered something under his breath and I darted out of the games room, leaving him to follow as I turned around a couple of corners to reach the kitchen. I turned off my torch, not wanting to alert anyone who could be hiding in the shadows of the massive room. I relied on my heightened vision and darted behind the kitchen bench. I couldn't see very well, but hopefully it was enough to see when someone was coming towards us.
"Can you see anything?" I whispered to the Soldier, who had crouched down behind the table not far from me.
"Nothing." He shook his head. "We have to leave, the backup generator will come on any second."
I sighed heavily, knowing he was probably right. I nodded and began to move to the corner of the bench, standing up quickly and darting towards the door.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, someone kicked me hard into the fridge, sending a faint wave of pain up my spine. I scrambled up and saw the faint out line of a figure in front of me just before they reached out to grab me. I rolled out of the way and hit my attacker in the back of their neck, causing them to collapse onto the ground.
I wanted to finish them off, but I didn't know it more of them were hidden somewhere. The Soldier grabbed my arm and began to drag me to the door and all of the lights suddenly flicked on. I looked over my shoulder and saw that it was a woman who had attacked me, dressed in a white shirt and denim shorts, strawberry blonde hair spilling over her shoulders. She was standing again and I quickly pulled out my gun from its holster, about to shoot her when something came fllying nowhere and knocked the gun out of my hand.
"Its Rogers." The Soldier muttered to me and I followed his gaze to see a man in a blue and white suit jump down from the level above us.
I scrambled to grab my gun, immediately spotting several exposed parts in his suit, but just as I was aiming it up, something flew into me and I slid across the floor, crashing into several chairs and a leg of the table. I scrambled upright and something flew down, landing in front of me. "Look Emily." I realised that it was a gold and red suit and I scrambled back in alarm, further in to the table. "We don't want to hurt you, but if you touch Pep again, I won't hesitate. Is that clear?"
"Let me go." I snarled at the unfamiliar suit of metal, switching to English so he could understand, which felt weird considering I had spent so long talking in Russian.
The man didn't move and I lurched forward, grabbing the side of the helmet and summoning up the fire bubbling eagerly in my stomach. There was no reaction from the person inside the suit at first, but a couple of seconds later, he lurched away and I stood up.
I looked around to try and found the Soldier ruthlessly righting Steve Rodgers, who was barely injured. I tried to look around for Romanoff, but she was nowhere to be seen.
I heard the man in the metal suit before he hit me again and I spun around to duck and avoid him. Someone kicked out my legs and I rolled to the side to see that it was the strawberry-blonde woman who must have been Pep. I grabbed my gun and shot at her, but the man in the metal suit flew in front and threw me against a wall, quite hard. It cracked behind me and I groaned softly as pain flared through my back.
The man in the suit pulled me out of the hole in the wall and flew up as high as he could without hitting the ceiling, which was to the call of the second level. He pinned me against the wall and got way to close to my face, his helmet disappearing from around his face.
"I warned you." He said. "I don't want to hurt you, but you leave me no choice."
He raised a metal fist and punched me straight in the side of the head, causing everything to turn bright for a couple of seconds. Knowing that I could end up off even worse, I closed my eyes and pretended to have fallen unconscious He gently placed me on the carpeted floor of the second level and I let my head fall to the side.
"I'm sorry." I heard him murmur before I heard him take off again.
I waited a couple of seconds to make sure he wouldn't come back before I opened my eyes and slowly stood up. I was a little dizzy and off balance, but I took a deep breath and climbed to the edge of the balcony rails, jumping to the floor and rolling to lessen the impact.
I darted behind a pot plant and watched warily as our attackers tried to take down the Soldier. He didn't look to be struggling, but I could see several injuries on him.
Spotting an opportunity to help the Soldier, I darted out from behind the pot plant and kicked down a man with a bow and arrow in his hands. I spotted red hair among the fight, but I quickly noticed that it wasn't Romanoff, but rather another woman with weird red light pouring from her hands.
I managed to reach the Soldier and Rogers and quickly burnt a hole in the chest of Roger's uniform, causing him to stumble back and let go to the Soldier.
"We need to get out of here." I hissed to him, grabbing his arm and tugging him towards the exit. I used my fire to create a large dome of fire around us as we stumbled towards the exit. Suddenly, something wrapped around me and I looked down to see that it was the other red-haired woman's power. It lifted me up into the air and bounded my arms tight to my body, causing the fire around the Soldier to disappear. She pinned me up against the bottom of a wall and the man with the bow and arrow shot one in the wall next to me, causing me to flinch before I smirked.
"Missed." I looked up at him.
"Did I?" He asked with an equal smirk. I looked down and saw chains snaking around me. I swore before I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. I looked over to see the red-head woman holding a ball of red light in her fingers before it snaked towards me and I fell unconscious.
