Pulse rate

"Alright", Tony said as he attached his new invention to my arm. "This should work."
"Isn't that just a regular heart rate monitor?", I asked sceptically.
"Yes and no. It is much more precise and fast than normal ones, plus it can tell you immediatly why you are hurt in case of an injury." He smiled and looked at the others who gathered with us in the living room.
"And why are you attaching it to
(y/n)?", Natasha asked, looking at me from the sofa.
"Because I figured out a new fun game."
"Oh no, not your fun games", Steve groaned. "I still remember the latest round of truth or dare."
"I don't see what was wrong with that, your hair looked great in pink", Thor said and Bruce and Clint laughed.
"I think so too", Tony said, smirking. "And the new game will be called: 'Can you keep your pulse rate down?'."
Natasha sat up on the sofa. "That sounds interesting. What is it about?"
"Easy. You have to relax and keep your pulse rate below 110. Another person has to get you over that number. And if they succeed, you lose."
"Well great, who wants to play?", I asked and tried to get the heart rate monitor off my arm.
"Oh no no, you start", Tony grinned. "Who wants to try to bring her pulse rate up?"
"I want to", Natasha said and walked over to me. She smirked and winked.
I swallowed and got nervous. And I wanted to win.
"Oh, already at 90", Tony said jolly.
I relaxed my shoulders and saw how the number on the monitor sank. Natasha continued to flirt with me, but I tried to relax. It never went over 95.
"I want to try too", Thor said. He kneeled down in front of me and flirted way more offensive.
"Seriously guys? You don't have better ways to get my pulse rate up?", I asked.
"You will fail your exams", Thor whispered seducticely into my ear.
I regretted what I said. But Thor wasn't able to get my pulse rate over 98 either.
"How are you so calm?", Tony asked thoughtfully.
The door clicked and the only Avenger who wasn't already in the living room entered.
"What are you doing?", Loki asked.
Shoot, I thought and my cheeks flushed.
"Oh, it is at 100! Loki, your turn! We may have discovered (y/n)'s secret crush", Tony said triumphantly.
Loki looked quizzically at us and Natasha explained the game. Then he smirked and came closer.
"It is at 100 now, you say?", he asked mischievously.
"102", Tony said proudly.
"So ...", Loki crouched down and let his fingers run over my knee. "You have a secret crush on me?"
"No", I lied, my ears glowing red.
"107! Almost!", Tony said.
"Wow, brother, you seem to have an interesting impact on (y/n), I didn't know that", Thor teased.
I threw him a warning glance and breathed out. I closed my eyes and relaxed.
"But why do you close your eyes?", I heard Loki's rough voice directly next to my ear.
I jerked. Shit, I was about to lose. I could already feel my pulse getting higher, along with the butterflies in my tummy.
"Open those lovely eyes", Loki whispered and I felt his lips brushing against my jawline.
My mind raced, my thoughts seemed to stumble and tumble in their haste. But I couldn't - I wouldn't -
Suddenly, I felt Loki's lips directly on mine. I gave up every inner defense and leaned in. Honestly, who needed that game. I felt his arms wrapping around my waist, and I returned the gesture. Loki's lips twitched to a smile as he bit down on my lower lip. The only thing pulling us out of the kiss was the beeping of the heart rate monitor.
155, it said. Cause of injury: Loki.
The Avengers broke out laughing and cheering, and we pulled back.
I stared into his eyes and admired his face. "So ... are we gonna do that again?", I mumbled.
Loki chuckled. "Everytime, darling." And with these words he teleported us into his room and we leaned forward to kiss again.
