#8 Treasure Him

"Have fun Loki!" Aurelia said, giving him a one arm hug.
"I will, jellyfish", Loki said, smirking as the girl glared at him before slapping his arm.
"How many times have I told you to not call me that?" She said, biting her lip out of frustration.
"As many times as I have told you to not bite your lip in front of me", Loki said, smiling when he heard her unsteady breathing.
"Yeah yeah, just leave already", Aurelia grumbled, blushing as she shoved him out of the door.
"Don't I get a goodbye kiss, my love?" Loki asked playfully as he puckered his lips.
"Bye Loki", Aurelia said as she shut the door with a 'bang' on Loki's face.
She could hear muffled chuckling and the sound of fading footsteps as she breathed heavily. It would take some time, getting used to all of this. Aurelia had met Loki when he was fleeing after his failed attempt to rule Earth. She had cared for the wounded god, and before either of them knew it, they were best of friends. However, the trickster was soon captured, and taken to Asgard to answer for his crimes. After months of stress filled days and sleepless nights, it was finally proven that Loki was not guilty, and that he was an innocent victim of Thanos' twisted plan. By now, the mortal and the god were smitten by each other, but fate (or rather, Odin) played a cruel trick.
Odin told Aurelia about Loki's crimes when he was under Thanos' control, and the poor girl was drowned in guilt as she asked herself whether her love for the green eyed immortal was moral or not. After many tears and conflicting thoughts, the the two lovers were finally united, followed by Loki joining the Avengers in order to "atone for his crimes", leading to Thor declaring that this called for a celebration. It was for this reason that Loki had left for a nearby club that night, leaving Aurelia alone at home. Inspite of knowing that he would be back in a few hours, the girl felt an uncomfortable weight on heart, due to the lack of the mischievous God's presence in her house.
"We've been together for barely a month and I'm turning into a clingy girlfriend", she muttered to herself.
"I guess I'll just watch Sherlock till he gets back...."

A series of loud bangs made Aurelia jump out of her skin. Shakily switching off the tv, the girl said a quick incantation, the girl summoned a dagger with a poisoned tip as she tiptoed towards the house door. It was during times like this that she was grateful of the fact that Loki had created a big scene and forced her to learn a few basic spells and combat techniques for self defense. Taking in a deep breath, she prepared to unlock the door, only to gear Thor's booming voice requesting her to open the door. Letting out a sigh of relief, she made the dagger vanish before opening the door, only to find a small envelope with her name on it at the doorstep. Frowning as she looked around for Thor who was nowhere to be seen, she shrugged and picked up the envelope before closing the door. She examined the envelope cautiously, before getting so unbearably curious that she couldn't stop herself from opening and reading it.
Did he tell you about Sigyn?
"What's that suppose to mean?" She wondered out loud as she turned the paper to see of there was anything else written on it.
A knock at the door, followed by Loki's voice resounded through the silent house, and she sighed placing the envelope and it's contents in one of the kitchen shelfs before hurrying towards the door and opening it. Loki stumbled into the house, making Aurelia gape at him as she closed the door.
"Loki, are you actually drunk? I thought mortal alcohol beverages had no effect on you!!"
"Thor brought Asgardian Mead", Loki said, making Aurelia let out an 'oh' and a nod of understanding.
"Come on, let's get you into bed", she said, only for Loki to wrap his arms around her and bury his face in the crook of her neck.
"I don't want to go to bed. Not without you at least", Loki mumbled
"Come on Loki, stop being such a child!" Aurelia said teasingly as she stroked his hair, making him sigh with content.
"I'm anything but a child darling", he said, smirking against her skin.
"Sure, Loki", Aurelia said with a giggle, "now come, let's go to bed."
Loki nodded in agreement before teleporting them into Aurelia's room suddenly and tossing her onto her bed, straddling her as he began to kiss her neck. Aurelia let out a squeal of surprise as the god continued his actions.
"I thought you were sleepy?" She asked breathlessly as she cupped his cheeks and made him face her.
"I agreed to go to bed with you", Loki said with a cheeky grin, "but I never said that I was sleepy."
Aurelia's eyes widened when she understood the hidden meaning behind his words, and Loki chuckled, kissing her nose quickly before turning his attention back to placing cool kisses on her neck and collar bone. Aurelia bit her lip as she cupped Loki's face with her hands and looked him in the eye.
"What is it now", the man pouted, making her giggle.
"I just wanted to know...." She trailed off, wondering if she should ask him the question on her mind.
"We'll?" Loki asked, fidgeting impatiently.
"Who's Sigyn?" She blurted out, closing her eyes and wincing.
A moment of silence ensued before she could feel Loki moving away from her. She opened her eyes and stood up, following him towards the door. She called out to him, only to be ignored. Feeling upset, she grabbed Loki's hand and pulled him towards her, pressing her forehead to his. Before she could even get in a word, Loki pushed her into a wall, roughly grabbing her chin as he moved into her personal space, breathing angrily.
"Don't say a word", he growled.
"Loki", Aurelia said with a warning tone, "we talked about this before.... I'm your girlfriend, you've got to show me some respect!! Besides, if you don't want to talk about it, you can just say so!"
"Never talk to me about her, or even say her name in front of me", Loki hissed, his slender fingers wrapping themselves around his lover's throat, "do you understand?"
Australia's breath hitched as tears welled up in her eyes- not because of the lack of oxygen, but because of the way the man she loved was treating her.
"I'll never talk about her.... Please, just calm down darling!" Aurelia pleaded softly, trying to sound as soft as possible.
Loki glared at her, the hand on her throat shaking as thought it wanted to tighten its grip. He suddenly pulled away, looking at his hand in horror before tugging at his hair.
"Hey, Loki, you didn't hurt me, so calm down", Aurelia said as he sat on the bed clutching his head, but looking relatively calmer.
"Just so you know, I'm not happy with your behaviour. You're drunk right now, so we'll discuss this- not her, but your actions- tomorrow morning. Good night."
Aurelia walked out of the room with that, though she didn't miss the way his body shook when she said 'her'. Curling up on the couch, the girl resumed watching Sherlock in order to ease her mind.

"Please.... Please no!"
The whimpers made Aurelia wake up with a start. Wondering if Loki was having a nightmare of his time with Thanos, she made her way to her room and gently tried to shake the pale man awake.
"Hey, Loki", she whispered softly, "love, it's me, please calm down, you're fine now."
The whimpers continued, and Aurelia caressed his cheek as she whispered soothing words.
"Sigyn.... Don't take her away from me, I LOVE HER!! AND I CAN NEVER LOVE ANYONE ELSE!"
Aurelia gasped, feeling a familiar stinging in her eyes as she choked. Loki's whimpers finally died down after that outburst, though he still looked troubled. Aurelia got up, almost tripping over her own two feet as she walked out of her room, grabbing her coat and house keys. She needed to get out of the house, to clear her mind. She grabbed the letter from the shelf and continued to read it once she had stepped out.
Did he tell you about Sigyn?
She bit her lip, turning the letter with shaking hands as she tried to hold back her tears.
I am certain that he hasn't.... Come to the playground near your house if you wish to know more.
Aurelia stopped walking and looked to the left. She shrugged and entered the playground. A little peek to satisfy her curiosity wouldn't hurt.... would it?
A gust of wind sent dust and a few leaves flying, making the girl cough as she covered her face. Once the wind stopped, she looked at the swings, only to see a lady dressed in white sitting on one of them. She took a step back, prepared to run away when the woman suddenly whirled around, looking right at her. The scream which made its way up Aurelia's throat was quickly silenced by the woman as she appeared in front of the girl within the blink of an eye, covering her mouth with her boney, pale hand.
The lady was the very definition of horror. It wasn't because she had long, curly blonde tresses which seemed to shine under the streetlight. It wasn't due to her skin, which was pale to the point where it looked translucent, or her lips which were stained blood red. It wasn't even the dress she wore, which was a blinding shade of white, complimenting her figure perfectly.
It was her eyes.
Her eyes were large and bright blue, with golden lashes that any girl would die for. Her pupils were long and slit, like those of a cat, and her eyes seem to scream 'crazy'. They had this thirsty look, which made Aurelia's spine tingle in a bad away. The woman eyed Aurelia, observing her carefully as she removed her hand from her mouth and used her pointed nails to make a trail from the side of the girl's neck to her bosom, and then from her waist to her hips. Aurelia stood still, frozen with terror as the lady's lips twisted into an unholy looking smirk.
"Had my lord, Loki, known you back then, he would have certainly....", Her eyes brightened as they greedily drank in her terror as she whispered the things she and Loki would have done to, and with, her.
"And what would happen afterwards?" Aurelia breathed out, trying to keep her voice free from disgust and terror as the lady pulled away.
"Why", she crossed her hands behind her back innocently,"we would kill you of course!"
Aurelia gaped at her with horror, causing the woman to chuckle.
"It would be up to you to choose whether to die from pain or pleasure", she pouted as her brows furrowed, "we're not inhuman you know."
"You're Sigyn", Aurelia blurted out after a moment of silence.
"Took you long enough", The woman said with a smirk as she twirled a piece of Aurelia's hair around her finger.
"Why do you wear jewelry with snake patterns?" Aurelia asked carefully.
"It is because of my lord, Loki", she said with a psychopathic grin as her other hand began to stroke Aurelia's neck.
Aurelia froze as she had a moment of realisation. Sigyn's smirk widened, showing off her pointy canines.
"It seems that you have finally caught on."
Aurelia nodded, unable to say anything. Sigyn's grip on her tightened as she continued to looked at her as though she was going to kill her then eat her.
"I want you to say it out loud."
"Wife...." Aurelia managed to croak out, "you're his wife...."
"Good girl", Sigyn giggled, "do you know what that means?"
Aurelia shook her head. All traces of mirth disappeared from the godess' face.
"It means he will never love you", Sigyn snarled, squeezing Aurelius's throat, "it means that you are nothing but a whore who is distracting him."
"You're wrong", Aurelia said defiantly.
"Excuse me?" Sigyn said, looking first confused, then pissed at what the girl had said.
"You want proof?" She snarled, before returning to her creepy, smirking self, "I'll give you proof!"
She cackled madly as she muttered an incantation, and the last thing Aurelia saw was a pair of gleeful, blue eyes as she felt herself fall to darkness.

Loki knew that something was wrong the moment he woke up, gasping for air and clawing at the sheets because of the nightmare he had of.... her taking away Aurelia. He resisted the urge to facepalm when he remembered how what started off as a fun night had ended. Feeling incredibly guilty, the god rose from his bed, ready to go apologize to his love. The familiar scent of Wisteria flowers assaulted his senses, making him freeze with panic for a moment, before rushing out of the room.
"AURELIA", he yelled as he searched the house for her, "DARLING WHERE ARE YOU?"
"No need to shout, my beloved Trouble maker, for I'm right here."
Loki felt Aurelia wrap her arms around his torso as she spoke, and he gathered her in his arms in a split second, hugging her like his life depended on it, even though something felt off. Aurelia hummed as she trailed her hands up his back, letting them settle in his hair as he buried his face into her neck.
"Aurelia", Loki all but whimpered, "darling, are you alright?"
The scent of Wisteria flowers came strongly, this time from his woman's neck, making Loki shiver from terror. The hands in his hair felt like bones, and the waist he held on to was cold, and covered with white fabric. He could feel that se serpent neckpiece poke his cheek as a voice he had tried so hard to forget rang around the house.
"Did you miss me, my lord?"
Loki pushed the woman away, taking several steps back as he shook from the onslaught of bad memories.
"You even gave her a nickname", Sigyn pouted before her expression darkened, "I should kill her for that. Not before I punish you, of course."
Loki shuddered as his hands unconsciously touched his back, feeling his skin for a particular scar.
"You haven't changed one bit", Loki muttered, still shaking as he kept his eyes on the floor.
"Why thank you for the compliment, my Trouble maker", Sigyn said, her expression morphing in a split second as she bit her lip and eyed him, "you have changed though, but it is nothing a little lesson can't fix."
"I thought you were dead", Loki mumbled as he shuddered with disgust and fear.
"Oh, my lord, I didn't die!" Sigyn let out a tinkling laugh, "well, not completely that is."
Loki didn't miss the way her eyes flickered to the emerald stone on her ring finger as she spoke. Clearly, she had saved up enough of her life energy into their engagement ring for her to make appearances in the world of the living even after her death.
"She isn't dead", Sigyn said, answering the question Loki was dying to ask, before giggling in response to his relieved sigh as she spoke in a sing song voice, "but she might as well be!"
Loki ran past Sigyn's cackling form towards the living room, crouching next to the sofa where his Aurelia lay, pale and barely breathing. Sigyn sprawled across the opposite sofa, yawning as she stretched suggestively.
"Well, my lord, do you intend to keep your beautiful queen waiting?"
Loki refused to respond as he took Aurelia's hand into his, stroking her cheek as he swore to make her better.
"You can't help her, you know", Sigyn said smugly as she pressed her front against his back, "I put a spell on her such that she would wake up from a true love's kiss. I know she loves those horrid, Midgaurdian fairytales, so I decided that this would be quite fitting. It is rather poetic, don't you think?"
"Oh don't look at me like that", she said as saw the god's determined expression, "you think that you love her, but you don't! Because the only one you can ever love is me! Isn't that so my lord? Tell me I'm right!"
Sigyn continued to cackle, and Loki pushed her away from him for a second time. Mumbling a 'you're wrong' to her, he took a deep breath and expelled all his insecurities, before kissing Aurelia's lips.
"It won't work!" Sigyn shouted, hee voice sounding almost fearful as she hugged herself.
"I love you", he whispered against her lips before kissing her once more.
"Jellyfish, come back to me."
Loki kissed her one more time, before resting his head on her chest, trying to find comfort in her heart beat. A hand began to stroke he hair gently, and Loki let out a sound of relief when he heard her voice.
"Dude, you have got to find a different nickname for me", Aurelia croaked out jokingly as a few tears slipped from her eyes, "Loki my love, I'm so- mpphh!"
Her words were cut off as Loki pulled her in for another fierce kiss, pulling her into his lap as he wove his hands into her hair. Aurelia tasted a salty drop of water, making her pull away abruptly as she placed her hands on Loki's tear stained cheeks.
"Loki, I'm such an idiot, I'm really so sorry", Aurelia cried, sobbing even more when Loki's alluring lips kiss away the tears.
"You...." Sigyn muttered, her eyes welling up with tears, making her look like a completely different person, "you actually love her."
There was a moment of silence, and Loki nodded his head. Sigyn looked at the two lovers, tears flowing down her cheeks as she smiled and tried to wipe them away. She took off the emerald ring and held it in her hands, before giving Aurelia a sad smile.
"Treasure him", she said simply.
"I will", Aurelia said as she smiled at Loki.
"I wish things were different...." Sigyn mumbled, looking at Loki one last time.
The hand holding the ring was engulfed in red flames, and the goddess was nothing but dust in mere seconds. By destroying the ring, she had severed all her connections to the material world. This time, she was dead, for real.
"Please don't tell me anything if it makes you uncomfortable", Aurelia said, placing her finger on Loki's parted lips, "I shouldn't have acted the way I did, and honestly, I don't think I deserve to know either."
"She was my wife", Loki said inspite of what his love has said.
"We met when we were very young, probably 16 years or so in human years. We were similar in many ways; we both shunned by our families, and we both enjoyed creating trouble.... It was love at first sight", Loki's eyes glazed over as he recollected those days.
"We got married soon after we met, which was something many disapproved of. My mother too, was against it; she felt that we weren't ready. Now that I think of it, she may have been right.... father, on the other hand, thought that our marriage would help in strengthening the kingdom, and would make me less of a trouble maker. She and I, we cared for none of that, we were too lost in our love to even care for others' opinions...."
Loki paused to glance at Aurelia, to see if he was hurting her. Said woman smiled at him supportively, stroking his hair lovingly.
"I said this before and I'll say it again, you don't have to tell me anything you don't want to-"
"But I do", Loki cut her off, "I do want to tell you. Not telling you is what caused this mess. I almost lost you because of this, and I refuse to go through something like that again. I know I sound selfish, but that is the truth. I do not want something like his to cause a rift between us ever again."
Aurelia opened and closed her mouth a few times, not knowing what to say, and Loki took that as a sign to continue.
"We were together for quite some time before we adopted two brothers who were abandoned at the time of their birth. We called them Vali and Nari. Vali was a loud and mischievous boy, and Nari his faithful partner in crime. It is no doubt that both were strong and powerful, but between the two, Vali was the muscle and Nari was the brain. There was never a dull moment with those tow around. We received a lot of criticism, a lot more than the time we got married, but we couldn't be happier."
"I'd like to meet the boys who make you smile like this", Aurelia whispered as she touched Loki's lips.
"I wish you could meet them too", Loki said, his eyes turning hard as he gritted his teeth.
Aurelia looked at Loki questioningly, and the man swallowed slightly before responding.
"They're dead", Loki said, making Aurelia's eyes widen as she hugged him, not knowing how else to comfort him.
"Long story short, the god's were fed up of Sigyn and my antics, and Vali and Nari were no less. So when we accidentally killed Baldr, someone who was the favourite of all gods but my least favourite sibling, they decided to punish us...."
"Er.... You have siblings apart from Thor?" Aurelia asked awkwardly.
"Yeah, I had one older sister, who died at childbirth, and a brother, apart from Baldr and Thor, who was Odin's son from his first and now deceased wife, who died at war. After the two passed away, I was the oldest, followed by Thor then Baldr."
Aurelia let out an 'oh'. She knew that the trickster's life had been difficult, but she didn't know that he has suffered so much. Loki continued, his eyes glazed over with unshed tears this time.
"Odin was really angry, particularly with me. I was certain that he planned to execute me, but he didn't do so for the fear that mother would not recover from losing another child. Sigyn took the blame, and begged and pleaded for them to lessen my punishment at the very least. The All father agreed, and he...." Loki choked on words as he tightened his grip on Aurelia and placed his chin on her head.
"He turned Vali into a rabid wolf, and forced Sigyn to watch as he ripped Nari apart and feasted on his entrails. Sigyn never recovered after that. We both did.... Horrible things. To one another, and to other people. On the day father announced the date for Thor's coronation as king, Sigyn had a complete break down. I.... I had no other choice but to put her down for good, and make it seem like she was murdered."
"She was the one that gave you that scar?" Aurelia asked, tracing the touch skin under his shirt, and he hummed a 'yes' in response.
"She has hurt me physically on more than one occasion, but I hardly blame her, for I was no better", Loki said with a small, sad smile.
"Now you know me, Aurelia. Are you still willing to-"
"Don't you dare finish that sentence love", Aurelia cut him off fiercely, "I want to be with you, and that is what I'll do no matter what."
Aurelia kissed him gently, wrapping her hands around Loki's neck and legs around his waist as he stood up.
"Come to bed with me?" Aurelia asked teasingly to lighten the mood.
"Of course, darling", Loki said as he let out a laugh and kissed her nose.
Teleporting themselves to his room, he played her down on the bed before getting in himself, spooning her lovingly as he intertwined their fingers. Within moments, the two were fast asleep.
And somewhere, deep inside Aurelia's world of dreams, two young boys laughed joyfully, guided by a woman dressed in white as they ran towards her and hugged her, thanking her for taking care of their father.
Treasure him, they said in unison, smiling at her one last time before fading away.
"I'll treasure him", Aurelia said out loud, still fast asleep.
As for the Trickster god, he got to see his family- his ex wife and sons, happy and healthy, and the chance to laugh and play with them like they use to back in the days, one last time.
Ooook so that turned out a bit different than I'd expected.... Hopefully, it was good 😅😅
Also, Aurelia is a genus of jellyfish, hence the nickname :D and Wisteria flowers apparently mean 'I cling to you', so I used those to describe Sigyn's scent....
All the love,
Kit_kat
