Nightmare Night at Canterlot Castle Part 1 (S1 E13)
I hang upside from the ceiling lights in front of Loki's cell. Unlike before, however, I have taken the time to fly up and tie my tail to the light, so now I'm dangling from it, slightly swaying. It hurts like hell.
I have a black, raggy cape wrapped around myself like a bat, gravity somehow not pulling it down like my mane. My tongue runs over the plastic, fake fangs poking out of my mouth. They're making me drool, for Celestia's sake, it's gross.
I crept in while Loki was asleep, then turned all the lights off except for the one in his cell and am now hiding in the shadows. He's been awake for a few minutes now, flicking through the pages of that book and 'ehehehe'ing lightly. I'll admit, it does look a little cute.
Time to ruin the moment.
I decide to break the quiet and whisper creepily; "Nightmare night..."
Loki's head perks up from the book. "H-hello?" he calls lightly.
"What a fright..." I continue.
Loki sets the book down and stands up. "Who's there?" He says warily, pacing slowly around the cell. "Show yourself!"
"Give me something sweet to..." I whisper, then at the last word, lunge out at him, "BITE!"
Loki screams like a boy who hasn't gone through puberty yet, jumping back. I slam into the glass, then get pulled back by my tail and swing like a spider. Suddenly, my tail unfurls itself and I fall face first to the ground with a splat. I let out a groan. "What on earth?" Loki breathes incredulously.
I jump up and turn to him. "Did I scare ya? Did I, did I, did I?" I ask quickly, my fake fangs slipping out of my mouth and landing on the ground. I plaster an over the top, fake smile at him.
Loki folds his arms, rolling his eyes. "No, you didn't."
I give him a 'bitch please' face. "Yeah I did," I argue.
"No," he protests.
"Yes."
"No"
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"Yes."
"No. Wait-"
Loki 'ehehehe's at me. I send a glare at him. "Why did you try to, anyway?" He inquires.
"Because, duh, it's Nightmare Night tonight! I'm going into a Ponyville to celebrate with Zoe," I explain, skipping around in circles excitedly. "We're gonna go around to ponies' houses and knock on their doors and get free candy."
"Aren't you a little old for that?" Loki smirks.
I gasp loudly. "Too old for free candy? NEVER!" I scream. Loki purses his lips. "Hey! I have an idea."
Loki face palms. "Oh, no," he mumbles under his breath.
"Wanna come?" I offer.
"No," Loki replies instantly.
"Aw, why not? Free candy. Think of the free candy!" I try to persuade, tracing a hoof on the patterned gold floor. "There's gonna be candy and games and fun and candy!"
He sighs slowly. "You're not going to leave me alone unless I come, are you?"
"Yeah, that's about right," I reply, standing up.
He growls under his breath. "Fine," he mumbles. "But I don't have anything to go as."
"Don't worry, you have a scary face," I reply, leaning forward and squinting at him.
"You have a scary face," he retorts, pissed off.
"No you," I challenge.
"You are times infinity."
"You are infinity times two."
Loki pauses, then shakes his head. "That's not even a thing."
"You're not even a thing," I smirk.
"Fine, then I won't go," he murmurs, turning around to go back to his bench.
"Don't leave me!" I call, pressing against the glass. Loki mumbles something that I don't hear and sits back down, crossing his legs and opening the book again. "Oh, c'mon, pleeeeease?" His eyes flick up to me, the only other movement he makes is turning the book page. "Puh-lease!" I beg, putting my hooves together in a praying sign and flying up to the glass. "Look, I'll let you keep all the candy you get," I make an offer. Loki snorts, a corner of his mouth lifting up. I roll my eyes. "Fine, keep all the candy you get, and half of what I get. My final offer."
"I don't care much for this mortal like candy," he says like Midgardian food is gross.
"Fine," I sigh, "Two puddings afterwards."
"Four."
"Three."
"Deal."
"Yes!" I squee, flying out the doors and down the hallway, my cape falling off and landing in a black heap in the doorway. I dash to my room to find Zoe sitting on my bed. "Yo!" I exclaim, crashing into her with a hug, not questioning why in Equestria she would be sitting on the bed when I had no idea she was even in the castle. And if she was waiting for me, that would be weird.
"Hey, Rosie. A guard told me a coach is coming to take us to Ponyville in half an hour," she says.
I pull away, looking her up and down. "Hey, you're not wearing a costume?" I say, confused.
Zoe's pastel green eyes brighten. "Neither are you. But I was hoping you'd say that," she smiles, "I've been working on a spell. If you imagine yourself in a costume while the magic is around you, it'll appear on you. But think of a good one, because it only works once on an individual, and you have to wait a week before you can do it again."
"Oh my frittatas! That is so cool," I cry.
"I know, right?" Zoe grins.
"Try it on me," I half order.
Zoe shrugs. "Why not? Think of something or someone you want to go as, tell me, then keep thinking about it until I tell you to stop."
I nod once, then look up, trying to think of something. What should I go as? A unicorn? A magnet? A dust? A hairs? Wait... I know exactly what I want! "Thinking of it," I say to Zoe.
"Okay, keep thinking about it," Zoe instructs, her horn glowing green.
"Doesn't seem too hard," I mutter under my breath.
"It helps if you close your eyes," Zoe adds. I do as she says. I feel myself levitating slightly, a small smile creeping across my face as I think more and more about it. I can hear sparks of magic being whooshed around me. I'm almost always a test subject for Zoe's spells, and it's really cool most of the time. Suddenly, I feel the ground catching up to my hooves. "Okay..." Zoe breathes excitedly, "Take a look."
I open one eye cautiously, then the other, trotting over to the full body mirror on the other side of the room. Gasping at my reflection, and at the amazing accuracy of the costume itself.
My long, thick, brown mane is slicked back, a few rebellious strands straying out at the front, pulled into a tight ponytail and sitting nicely to the side. I'm wearing a gold chest plate with green padding and a jacket underneath the armour on my forelegs. A green cape is held in place from my shoulders, swept to the side to make room for my wings. "Awesome!" I exclaim, "I'm a Loki! KNEYUL!"
"You were thinking of Loki?" Zoe smirks at me.
"Uh... wh- NO!" I fold my hooves, turning my muzzle up.
Zoe chuckles, then does the spell herself. She rises slightly off the ground, her horn glowing, surrounding herself in pastel green magic. There is a flash of light as she drops back to the ground, now in a dark crimson red vampire costume, complete with fangs and a straightened, sophisticated mane. "I vant to suck your blood!" She cackles at me in a German accent, rubbing her hooves evilly.
"Why don't you go suck a-"
"Rosie!" Zoe looks at me in shock.
"Sorry," I say sheepishly.
"So, we going then?"
"Is it okay if Loki comes, too? I invited him and all," I inquire, following Zoe out the door and down the hallway. Zoe nods her head.
"Yeah, it's fine," she replies cooly, the fangs almost slipping out of her mouth. She runs her tongue over them to put them back in their place and licks her lips. "But does he have a costume?"
"Within the short amount of time that I had finished my conversation with Loki, I have brainstormed so many ideas, but narrowed it down to one," I say, flapping my wings because the cape keeps getting caught under my hooves. "Let's turn him into... a pony!"
Zoe's jaw drops, eye widened. "You want to do what?"
