It was spring, meaning all of the pollen, the animals, and the flowers were messing with Logan's senses. Logan was hypersensitive to scents, and every spring was kind of difficult for him, but he usually managed to be ok as long as he stayed inside, and kept all of the windows closed. However, he was sick of staying cooped up in the house, and he thought that as long as he brought his earplugs and a stim toy with him, then he would be ok to go for a walk.
Logan plugged his earplugs in right away before he left the house, because, while he knew that his ears weren't as sensitive as his nose, he would still be bothered by a lot of the sounds outside, and in stores. Things were going fine for Logan at first. His earplugs really helped when he went into a gas station to get a drink, and all of the scents around him were strong, but not overpowering. At least they weren't until the wind picked up, blowing an unbearable amount of cotton, leaves, flowers, and pollen in his direction.
Automatically Logan was starting to feel overwhelmed, but he thought he would still be ok, just as long as he squeezed the netted balloon full of slime that he used to stim. But then the wind changed directions, blowing everything directly in Logan's face, and soon after that someone ran across the street instead of waiting at a crosswalk, making a bunch of care all start honking at them at once, and suddenly Logan was floored.
Logan ran as far away from the honking cars as he could until he found a dark, secluded alley to hide in. There were not sounds anywhere near him, and the buildings all around him served as excellent wind blocks, meaning it wasn't the worst spot for Logan to try and calm himself down. Logan was crying, and he kept squeezing his toy, and focused on his breathing in an effort to relax, but it just wasn't working. Logan knew that he wouldn't have been able to get home by himself, because it would mean leaving his spot, so his only option was to call someone to come help him.
Logan shook as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. The last thing Logan wanted was to hear anyone speak to him right then, and the very idea of talking made him want to rip his own vocal cords out of his throat, but there wasn't any other option. Logan called Kurt, knowing that his husband would be there to help him as fast as he could, and he flinched violently, crying even harder every time the phone wrang.
"Hi honey." Kurt's voice greeted cheerfully, making Logan whimper.
"I need help." Logan sobbed into the phone, his voice shaky.
"Ok honey, can you tell me what's wrong?"
"No." Logan would tell Kurt what happened when he felt like he could, but right then he wanted to say as little as possible.
"That's ok. Do you need me to come get you?"
"Yes."
"Can you tell me where you are?"
"No."
"Alright, I'll find you ok? Just wait a minute, I'll be there as soon as I can." Logan hung up the phone, and waited quietly, starting to finally calm down a bit since he knew that he would be safer soon.
It wasn't long before Logan was able to hear a soft 'bamf' nearby, and smell sulfur, which made him tear up even more. Kurt crouched down in front of Logan, and between the toy, the earplugs, and Logan's crying, it wasn't hard to figure out what was wrong. Kurt knew that Logan was autistic, as he really didn't keep it a secret, and Kurt and Logan had had a few discussions about things Kurt could do to help Logan feel better when he got overstimulated. So Kurt knew exactly what to do.
"Do you feel like you can talk?" Kurt asked Logan, keeping his voice low, but Logan just shook his head.
"That's ok. Would you like me to teleport us home?" Logan nodded eagerly, leaning closer to Kurt, wanting nothing more than to just be inside again. Kurt placed a hand on Logan's arm, and teleported them both to their shared room.
Right away Logan laid on his side of the bed, and Kurt made sure that his fuzzy safety blanket was within reach. But almost right away Logan reached a hand out to Kurt, letting the man know that he wanted to be as close to him as possible. Kurt smiled lovingly at Logan before removing his shirt and laying down with Logan. Logan immediately rested his head on Kurt's chest, and gently rubbed the man's stomach.
Kurt had been a bit surprised when Logan told him that his fur was a comforting texture, but he thought it was more sweet than anything else. Kurt liked that Logan felt safe enough with him, and trusted him enough to find comfort in being with Kurt when he felt like he was at his most vulnerable. So any time Logan needed to, Kurt was more than happy to cuddle with Logan, and let the man stroke his fur.
When Logan started to calm down, and doze off, surrounded by the things that made him feel the safests, Kurt began to purr, glad that his husband felt safe again. It wasn't long before Logan fell completely asleep, and Kurt kissed him on the head, looking forward to being there when Logan woke up again, surrounded by nothing but love and safety.
