Chapter 6 : Monopoly.

Logan hated Monopoly. Probably because every time he played it, he lost first to Emile and Patton. He was always the first out and he hated it. It was a simple child's game! And he kept on loosing and it was no different with Virgil.

Virgil had found the game in a cupboard and brought it out. He stared at it for a while, taking in the bright green box with multicolored paper cash on and silver playing pieces. He stared at the man with a white moustache and top hate and then the title, "Mon-o-po-ly...?"

Confused, he walked downstairs, one foot at a time and dragged the game slightly and walked to the kitchen, "Dad?"

Patton looked up, "yeah Kiddo?" He had just finished making a hot chocolate with marshmallows, cream, chocolate sprinkled on top, a flake in and a small gingerbread biscuit in the side.

"What'th thith?" The boy held up the game.

Smiling, Patton set the hot beverage aside and knelt down, "it's a game. The one with the most money wins and the one with the least loses."

"Can we play Dad? And can Papa?" Asked Virgil, his eyes wide and looked like if Patton said no, it would crush his little heart.

"Of course Kiddo. You want uncle Emile to join us as well?"

"Yeah!"

Laughed Patton picked up his phone, "go get Papa."

Virgil ran upstairs and left the game and knocked on his fathers' door.

Logan had moved his study into his and Patton's room when they agreed to adopt and Virgil now had where his study used to be.

Looking up from his work, Logan shouted, "come in!"

Virgil pushes the door open, "Papa?"

Logan hadn't realised he started smiling and knelt down, "hey Virge, what is it?"

"Can we play mon-o-po-ly?"

Logan froze. Those four dreaded words. He was still haunted by the game as it laughed and taunted him in his sleep. It was the devil. It was his only enemy. It needs to be killed, destroyed and stopped... He's not being dramatic, your being dramatic!

He saw those wide brown eyes, staring at him, that looked as if you said no it'd kill him, however the problem with seeing Virgil's eyes like this is, that this was just Virgil's normal eyes, "of course I will."

Virgil squealed, in excitement.

'Please don't let Emile get involved. Please don't let Emile get involved. Please don't-'

"Virgil!" Came a voice from downstairs.

"Uncle Emy!" Virgil rushed out and Logan cursed silently.

Emile was going to beat Logan, the man in the blue tie knew that too well and he reluctantly joined his son.

They set the game out after lots of greetings and Emile giving his nephew loads of cuddles and explained the rules to Virgil.

The adults all collectively agreed to let Virgil win, as Virgil was only two and would possibly get upset if he lost.

However, here's the problem, they realised near the beginning, the child was a genius and the adults had to start trying. They'd only played for twenty minutes and Logan was out and Emile was running low, Patton had a reasonable amount but Virgil was rich.

Emile was out after the next twenty minutes. He was actually trying, even Patton but Virgil was a Monopoly wizard.

So, now it was between Patton and Virgil.

The two year old was enjoying the game and smiled at his Dad, "you're turn Dad."

Patton picked up the die and shook it, he had to be careful or else he'd land on Boardwalk as he was three spaces away and would have to give his son four hundred dollars and that would mean he lost. He released the die.

The small white cube with small black dots on rolled as he bit his lower lip, his mind riddled with anxiety. Then finally it stopped.

The left dice read, two and the other red one, which made three. He moved his playing piece and landed on the dreaded house and handed over the last of his money, meaning Virgil had won.

Virgil grinned as he realised this and yelled out in triumph.

You know? Logan didn't even care he lost. Seeing his son smiling and laughing was the best prize he could ever have. In reality... He won.
