Welcome to white space
To say atlas was a nice place, would be akin to calling Grimm harmless puppies. Atlas was a frozen wasteland with little to nothing in it besides snow and ice.
And the actually city's, but that was beside the point.
Even the "great city of atlas" stood floating hundreds of feet over the ground, leaving it invulnerable to any land Grimm attacks and the dangers of living in such a volatile environment.
It was still cold, stupid cold, but that was about all the city of atlas had to deal with. A bit of snow, a bit of cold wind, and subpar weather.
For a kingdom who took pride in where it came from, it was very disconnected from its own land, and by extension, it's own people.
The citizens of atlas, those who didn't live on the floating fortress of Atlas proper, hated this desolate place. The cold, the snow, the cold, there was nothing here that Vale, Vacuo or mistral could not provide.
The only other "city" in the entirety of Atlas was mantle, which laid directly beneath the floating city.
It was, generous, to call mantle a city.
It was more of a collection of small cramped apartments, closed stores, and a giant crater next to it where atlas once stood- before it had taken off into the sky.
It was almost as if atlas had cut of the slums of its great city, and left it on the ground as they ascended into the air, to their salvation. Leaving the poor and defenseless to fight over what little resources remained. Of course atlas still "supported" them, giving mantle whatever resources they required, but it was no coincidence that all the resources coming from atlas took a excruciatingly long time to arrive.
Atlas was a mess, but somehow still the most powerful kingdom on remnant
And Jaune was determined to find out why
—————————
"Fascinating" Jaune commented as he looked out of the window of his prison transport.
His gaze was fixed on Atlas, more specifically the floating city which was connected to the ground by a few cables.
"Shut it prisoner" one of the guards on his left said, shooting a glare at the kid in front of him
"Tell me solider, how is it that a city of that magnitude is held up by a few messily cables? That isn't physically possible." Jaune said, ignoring the soilders words
"Gravity dust" said a voice from his right
Jaune looked over to see a women in all white, with hair over her eye and down to her shoulders. She had what Jaune could identify as a rapier attached to her hip, and a blue stripe on her chest.
"Gravity dust you say?" Jaune mussed "must take a lot to keep something that heavy floating, but I do guess you have a stockpile thanks to the shcnees's and their dust company"
The women raised an eyebrow
"You are very well spoken for a child" she said "how old are you?"
"I am Seven" he said, ignoring the looks of shock from the soldiers around him "Though I suppose I'm turning eight soon"
"You also seem relatively calm, considering where your going" the women continued "You'll never be a free man again, yet you seem uncaring to that fact"
"Your statement is, illogical, I will be a free man again" Jaune said, turning his attention to the Women
Said women scoffed "Do you even know who your talking to?" She said
Jaune stared her straight in the eyes, getting an involuntary shiver from the Women
"You are specialist Winter schnee"
"Yes, and one of your future Guards, do you really think you can escape from me?"
Jaune's gaze didn't waver
"I don't think I can"
Winter smiled smuggly
"I know I can"
The ride was silent from then on
———————————
The transport landed with a heavy thump as Jaune lurched forward slightly, catching himself rather quickly.
The doors were opened by a another soldier on the outside of the transport, who looked at Jaune for a second then at winter
"Specialist Schnne, General ironwood wants you to meet him at the control room." The soldier said
Winter raised an eyebrow
"Are you sure? I believe I would be the most helpful here, guarding the prisoner" winter said
The soldier looked at the "prisoner" which was a little boy who looked completely uninterested in their current conversation.
"I'm sure we can handle him M'am" the soldier said
Winter eyed Jaune carefully, who was still staring idly out the window.
"Alright then, let me know if he even steps a toe out of line, then I will personally deal with him" winter said
With that little threat said, Winter walked out of the transport, leaving Jaune with his two guards.
One of the guards stepped up and pushed Jaune out of his seat, sending the child crashing to the floor.
Jaune turned his gaze slowly to meet his attacker, who had a harsh glare fixed on his face
"Is there truly a need for such violence?" Jaune said, almost condescendingly "It is pointless"
The soldier spat at the downed child
"Shut up and get moving" the soldier said threatening, adding another kick for extra measure
Jaune slowly stood up, provoking the guard some more, and began to move.
"Where are we going?" Jaune asked
One guard stepped in front of him, while the other stepped behind as they began to lead him away from the transport and into a facility of some sorts.
All that Jaune could see was a small metal entrance, with a arch behind it. The door was guarded by two atlas soldiers, who wore a completely white uniform.
While the entrance may seem like nothing much, Jaune knew there was more beneath the surface. It was obvious, why would they send him to a little shack?
The guards marched Jaune past the other two by the door, who didn't spare Jaune or his escort a passing glance.
They stepped into a small room with a man sitting at a desk, he glanced up at them from his computer.
"Where to?" He asked flatly
"Sub-level 4" the soldier in front of Jaune answered
The man at the compute rose an eyebrow but said nothing, and he began to type on his computer. Moments later the floor began to groan and creak until it started to lower, brining all occupants down with it.
Jaune spared a glance at those around him, who didn't seem fazed in the slightest at what was happening around them. He supposed it was normal then.
The guy at the computer smiled a bit
"Is it just your imagination" he began "or is the floor really moving?"
The two guards gave the man a annoyed look while Jaune just kept blankly staring forward.
"Jeez" the man said "tough crowd"
After a few more moments of silence, the floor stopped with a thud.
Jaune lurched forward slightly at the sudden stop, but was stopped by one of the guards grabbing his arm and keeping his upright.
"This is your stop" the man at the computer said
The guards formed up again at the front and back of Jaune and marched him out of the "floor elevator" as Jaune had mentally dubbed it.
The guards continued to March him down a singular bland and completely white hallway. There was nothing it in, not even other guards, just white as far as the eye could see.
The guard in front grabbed something from his hip, a pair of what looked to be glasses, and placed it on his eyes.
He then turned and walked them in a new direction, bringing them to a white door Jaune hadn't previously seen.
"Fascinating" Jaune said "the only possible way to see in this Abyss is with those glasses"
The guard in the back shoved him a bit, while the guard in front began typing away at a all white keypad. Jaune couldn't even decipher the numbers, it was just all white.
After a few seconds of waiting, the all white door opened to reveal a room.
The room, in stark contrast to the rest of this place, was grey and black. It seemed normal, almost too normal.
The room housed two chairs on either side of a table, with a big piece of reflective glass on the wall to his right.
An interrogation room
"an interrogation room?" Jaune said "for what purpose I wonder?"
Jaune turned around to see his two "escorts" leaving the room and closing the door. Jaune didn't even need to listen closely to know they locked it.
Jaune examined the room more closely, at a first glance it looked like a normal interrogation room, something straight out of a lowly prison.
Not something he, or anyone, would associate with the high tech superpower atlas.
But he supposed that it didn't matter, this was where he would have to wait, until someone came to retrieve him.
He could try to escape, but considering where he was
That would just be illogical
————————————
So say winter schcnne was confused would be an severe understatement.
She had been tasked by the general himself to retrieve a criminal from Ansel and bring them back to a atlas facility of the generals choosing.
She was expecting someone like the world famous thief Roman torchwick, or the yet to be caught Tyrian callows.
Instead she found herself in the company of a single little boy, who looked as if he couldn't harm a fly. The boy was cleary an arc, that much was certain from the blond hair and blue eyes. But that raised another question
What was an arc doing in atlas custody?
It was common knowledge that the arcs produced the most Nobel and strongest warriors in all of remnant. Was it possible for one to have gone bad?
Winter scoffed at the idea as she walked, the boy was barely even a toddler, there was no way he could have done anything too horrible. But that still didn't answer her question, she supposed the general would answer it, at least partially.
Winter slipped on her pair of glasses, as the white Abby's of the base faded away, showing her the path.
She walked down the now clear corridor, past serval cells which were eerily empty. At the end of the hallway lay her goal, General ironwoods office.
She stepped in
———————————
General ironwoods eyes flicked up at the sight of his right hand women stepping into his office. He allowed a small smile to grace his lips for a second before it was replaced by his normal stern look.
"Winter" ironwood greeted
She stiffly stood at attention and saluted him
"General ironwood!" She spoke "Spec-"
"Drop the formalities winter" ironwood spoke with a slight amused tone "We have pressing matters to get to"
Winters shoulders relaxed and she stood at ease, looking at her superior
"I'm sure you have questions about our, newest, arrival here" ironwood said while looking at his computer
"Yes, several" she said
Ironwood gave her a nod to continue, and winter did
"Why are we keeping him here?" She asked "this place is built for the worst of the worst, one's we never want to see the light of day again. Yet here this, boy, stands." She took a huff of breath "it just seems, overkill, if you don't mind me saying"
Ironwood nodded, and motioned for winter to come over to his computer
"There is a reason he's here, it's very much deserved" he said
On his computer was a photo, a single horrifying photo that made winter gag
There was four, what she could only assume used to be people, on four separate operating tables. The people were completely dissected and cut up, leaving their chests open to the world.
The two closest to the camera had their heads additionally opened up, leaving the brain and its inner workings exposed to the world.
"By the brothers" she said, stumbling slightly and leaving on desk by her side
Ironwood only offered a Grim nod in response
"Indeed, I assume this is enough of an answer for you." Ironwood said
Winter nodded numbly
"We are here to, at least attempt to, make him better" ironwood said "at the very least we need to asses and detain him. As you can see, he is a very real public threat."
Winter nodded again, still in complete disbelief
"We also have to go question him, and I was hoping you would come with"
Winter snapped out of her stupor
"Of course general, I'll join you" she said with some confidence
Ironwood smiled
"Good, then let's get going"

Arthur watts was many things
For one, He was a brilliant scientist, one of the smartest minds on all of remnant.
He is very proud of his work, and very proud of his abilities.
He is also completely insane, to an extent, completely changing sides of the secret war because ironwood chose someone over him.
But one thing watts wasn't, was a believer. If he wasn't shown something, he wouldn't believe it.
There had to be proof for him to believe
When he first met Salem, and she claimed to be an immortal being who controlled the Grimm, he had almost laughed at her right there. But when she summoned a whole army of Grimm to her disposal and destroyed a town in front of him, safe to say he was turned into a believer then and there.
But still, there were some things that Arthur watts couldn't believe.
Such as a young boy, barely even a toddler, overpowering five people. Then brutally torturing them for days, before killing 4 of them.
And the boy was an arc.
Watts just couldn't believe that an arc could do that, much less an arc of that age.
But, much to his surprise, the boy had been admitted to a atlas facility dubbed "white space"
Watts supposed it wouldn't hurt to watch
———————
Jaune wasn't sure how long his was left to his own devices, an hour perhaps, or even a day. But despite this, Jaune was never bored, his mind was running a mile-a-minute.
He had analyzed every square corner of his new imprisonment, and found some very interesting things, it was the least he expected of the kingdom of atlas
A bug under the table attached to the bottom of his chair, so they could listen to everything he said more closely
Smart plan but poorly executed, Jaune decided the leave it
He found two hidden cameras in the corners of the rooms, just out of his reach, so Jaune let them stay.
Finally he found a strange glowing device on the ceiling, not even hidden in the slightest. Jaune wasn't sure what it did
His attention was taken from the device to the door when it was opened, giving Jaune a glimpse of the white Abbys beyond his prison.
One Of the people slammed the door shut, gathering Jaunes attention again
There was winter, someone he had expected to see, the next person however was someone he had not.
There was a man who towered over Jaune, he had black hair with a few white spots, and the usual white atlas specialist outfit, but with a grey stripe over his chest. But the metal arm and the way he carried himself was a dead giveaway, this was not another specialist
This was General ironwood
"Jaune arc, son of Alexander and Julia arc and twin brother to Jacky arc, I am gene-"
"I know of you" Jaune said, cutting ironwood off "and of your reputation, General"
Ironwood blinked in surprise before taking a seat, winter standing at his right.
"I see" he said slowly "well then I can skip the formalities Jaune. You know why your here"
"I understand that my father didn't agree with my experiments, and sent me to this place so you could stop me from conducting them" Jaune said plainly
"Experiment?" Ironwood asked "that's what you call the torture and murder of four civilians?"
"Four deaths in the name of science" Jaune countered "That is a meaningless number in the grand scheme of things, you of all people should understand that general."
Ironwood raised an eyebrow
"I beg your pardon?"
"Your kingdom is the most militarily powerful kingdom on all of remnant, yet here you stand. Your fleet alone could decimate the Grimm in the Outlands, yet here you stand. The Grimm could be pushed back to whatever crevice they crawl out, yet here you stand." Jaune said ominously, while he kept complete eye contact with those infront of him
Ironwood and winter looked completely blown away by Jaunes little speech, winters face began to grow slightly red with anger
"You insolent little child! How dare you question the decisions made by the general!?" Winter yelled
Jaune was unaffected by the yelling "Answer me General, how is it that with all the advancements in modern technology and the growing amount of hunters each passing year, that the Grimm are still an issue?"
Ironwood didn't say anything
"How do the Grimm control a mass amount of the planet when they are mindless beasts? It is perhaps because they are not mindless?"
Ironwoods eyes widened
"There is someone, or something that controls the creatures of Grimm, someone you are very afraid of General. Your hesitance to face this being is logical, your fear of it is not."
Ironwood wordlessly stood up, ignoring winters questioning gaze, and took a step towards Jaune
"Who told you" he spoke harshly
"No one had to inform me, it was the only logical conclusion."
Ironwood glared at the boy, before turning around and walking to the door. Winter looked very confused
"General?" She said
"Let's go winter" he said, as he placed a pair of glasses over his eyes.
Winter did the same, as they walked out into the Abyss, leaving Jaune alone again.
———————————
Watts was many things
But a believer wasn't one of them
But it was safe to say he was a believer in this boy, the show he put on brining a smile to the man's face. This child was able to deduce Salems existence, in everything but name, with only some facts and theory's.
It was incredible.
To see the one who disgraced him in such a state, brought lots of happiness into Watts's life.
He needed this boy, salem needed this boy. He began to type furiously away at his computer.
White space wouldn't hold this boy any longer
Watts was going to set the devil free
—————————————
That's a rap, chapter two of logic dictates life is now finished. Hope you enjoyed it
Few things that need saying
First- yes White space is an omori reference, love the game and the name fit with what I wanted the prison to be like.
Second- I feel as if white space needs a bit more explaining. So when you walk in all you see is white in every direction, and it's impossible to navigate. But when you put on the glasses, live the guards and ironwood, you can see through the abyss and be able to navigate the place.
Third- watts is watching through the cameras Jaune pointed out to himself when the guards left him in the questioning room.
I also was considering making this chapter also include Jaunes escape from white space, but I thought that would be rushing it a bit. So that'll be later.
Once again I wish to take this story slow and have minimal interactions with myself in the story. So only a small authors note at the end with a quote that I believe is a good way to send you away thinking.
That's all
