Chapter 9.

As Evanna sat there on the couch she began to come back from her little flashback. She smiled softly remembering the good times.

She heard the door open and in came Logan. She was shocked for a moment. 'How long have I been daydreaming?' She asks herself. Logan went upstairs and didn't say a word to Evanna. She had no idea why. He always greeted her. She stood up and walked into Charles room to see Logan had stabbed Charles.

Evans' eyes widened and Laura had thrown herself at him. But then Evan could see his face clearly. This was not her Logan. "Hell no!" Evan Threw the clone against the wall and he was stuck there. "Laura!" Laura looked up at her mother. "Go!" Laura ran downstairs and Logan charged at Evan. She smacked her head on the wall and felt a pain below her. She looked down and saw his claws in her.

She gasped out in pain. He pulled out slowly, making her insides feel like they were getting torn apart again. Then he ran after Laura. She laid there in pain for what felt like years. She heard shotguns and yelling. But it all sounded like it was underwater.

"Ev-vanna-a." Charles said in a weak voice. Evanna looked up and saw Charles bleeding out. "Y-you need-d to he-help them." Evanna got up and ignored the pain in her stomach. There was no way in hell was she going to let someone take her family away. Not like last time.

Evanna ripped the sheets and tied it around Charles' chest to at least hold the bleeding in. When he looked somewhat okay she ran out in the hallway to see Nate on the floor dead. "Oh my God." She muttered. Evan closed her eyes and saw the clone of Logan carrying Laura. She was in handcuffs. My Logan stood at the end of the stairs. He just let him pass. "What are you doing!" Evanna yelled out and Logan ran to her. She was bleeding all over the place.

Evan pushes Logan out of the way and ran outside. Clone Logan was killing a bunch of men she had never seen before. Logan came outside with Charles.  He placed him in the back of the truck softly. They shared some words and then she was gone. He was dead.

Evan could feel his heart and mind slip away quickly. She was losing her best friend. "Take care of them, Evan." Was Charles last words before his mind and soul left his body. His beautiful mind was gone. That sarcastic voice had left. Eva. Didn't know what to do. But then she did. She was pissed.

Evanna growled and ran full speed at the Clone. She wrapped her legs around his body and tried to choke him. But he wouldn't go down. He threw her off of him and she landed on the ground but she ran at him again. This time her knifes digging into his skin. As soon as she did that Logan came over and began to repeatedly stab him. Evan was thrown off of him again and landed near Laura.

"Baby girl! You okay?" She rolled closer to her and saw these were complexed Cuffs. They bound her feet to her hands. Laura began to scream as if she was in pain. Evanna gripped the cuffs and tried to rip them off her but they were too strong. She even tried to use her Telekinesis. Evan heard a crash behind her and five gunshots. She turned and saw Will had the gun pointed at Logan. Her Logan. But when he tried to shoot him nothing came out.

Will fell to the ground and died bleeding out. His blood seeping into the now wet ground. Did it have to start raining? Evan felt bad he was dragged into this. She knew something like this was going to happen and they stayed anyways. Evan always trusts her gut.

She let out a grunt of pain as she picked up Laura in her arms. Logan came over to them and picked Evanna up bridal style. She hissed as Laura laid on her open wounds. They were slowly healing making her tired.

Logan walked to the truck and placed them in theirs. Laura looked back and saw Charles dead. She began to scream and squirm in Evanna arms. As they drove away.  Evan was upset she had to see that. She saw the clone stab him and that was enough to send Laura into a pissed off rampage.

"It's okay baby. It's okay." Evan tried to calm her down as Logan cut the cuffs off. He watched Evan and saw she was heartbroken. Charles was gone. The one man she would miss the most. Eric had passed to but it was more expected. This? Charles was murdered. That's the difference.

Evanna was crying and in pain. She couldn't remember the last time she cried but it was now. Laura curled in her arms and hugged her. Logan kept coughing as he was healing himself. Evan knew he was dying to. Logan knew it. Laura? She just thought he was sick. Evan sniffled and stopped the tears from falling now.

"Pull over," Evan said and Logan looked at her. "Now Logan." He sighed and did as she asked. She got out of the car carrying Laura and placed her in the back seat. Then she walked over to the driver's seat and Logan sighed getting out.

Logan and Evanna switched spots. Charles needs a place to be buried. That's exactly what Evan was looking for. Somewhere peaceful and with nature. Charles asked for peace once. She was going to give it to him.

It was still silent except for the occasional coughing from Logan once in a while. But it was still silent. Evan had pulled into a forest with a lake. It was beautiful. Peaceful.

Logan looked at Evan and opened to say something but she got to him before he could. "Don't. Please just don't." She got out of the car and Laura came with her. She grabbed a shovel and found the perfect spot. So she began digging. Logan tried to help but she didn't let him. He was limping and bleeding all over the place. She didn't want him working anymore then he has to.

Evans shirt was stained with dry blood. Laura sat down on a rock and watched as her mother dug a grave. Laura was a strong girl. Evan was proud of that. But she knew that sometimes it's okay to cry. It's okay to feel vulnerable once in your life.

She dug the grave and placed Charles in it softly. Logan stood up and took the shovel from her and threw the dirt back in. With each pile that was thrown in Evan could see the memories start to come back. Evan just wished she could go back to it all. She wished everything wasn't the way it is now. Mutants were gone. Kids were being born without the parents knowing. Once he was done they stood there in silence.

"Well...it's near the water... And.. It's the water." Logan tried to say something nice but he couldn't come up with anything. Hell, he didn't know what to say. This was his fault. He also blamed Laura. Evan shouldn't be here with them at all. She got hurt. He was upset with himself. He let this happen.

Evan smiled softly as she felt Laura take her hand and Logan's. "I remember the time you and Eric first met me." She smiled. "You guys were shocked to see that I wasn't an old witch. The look on both of your faces was priceless. I was also a bitch to you. Back then I didn't care but now I do." She chuckled and Logan stayed silent. Laura looked up at her mother. "You guy's needed my help and I gave it to you. But in all honest truth. You guys were the ones who helped me. Charles, you helped me and I'm forever grateful. You gave me a home, a family. You built a school for those who needed a home as well. You took in strays and made them your family. Doesn't matter where they came from or who they were. You trusted them."

The tears began to fall from her eyes. "You gave us hope when we didn't have it. You had faith that everything would be alright and in the end, it did. The countless battles we had to face. The time we didn't think we would make it. But we did. Because you gave us hope." Her voice began to crack as she sniffled. Laura started to actually cry now. When she looked at her mother something in her told her it was okay.

"The many times the school got blown up, torn down, invaded by our many enemies. We made it better. We made it home and we kept it safe." Logan had to look away. His eyes were watering and he refused to let them fall. Hearing Evan says these words made him feel like shit. He could come up with anything but Evan. She came up with so many things that made a person's heart just hurt.

"I'll do what I promised you. In that hotel room, you told me to carry out your legacy and I'll do that just for you. I'll build another school. Ill teach everyone what you taught me. Charles, you will never be forgotten. I'll make sure if that. Never will you be forgotten, my friend." Logan walked away in anger and Evan watched as he stomped away. Laura still had her small hand in Evens.

Logan began to cuss as he tried to start the truck. But it wouldn't start. He threw a fit and began to use the shovel and beat the truck up. That's Logan for you. He just needed to burn off some steam. Evan knew that all too well. Evan bent down to face Laura. "You know that he's not angry at you, right?" Laura nods her head. "We'll get you back to your friends. I promise." Evan smiled and Laura hugged her. As she did Laura saw a truck. The man went out fishing with his dog. She knew they needed that car.

Evan and Laura looked back at Logan. He threw one last hit to the truck before he fell to the ground. Evanna stood up quickly and ran to him. Laura followed close behind. She stayed out of the road so she didn't get run over. "Logan! Logan! Baby, wake up!" Evan yelled but he wouldn't wake up. Blood was dripping out of him quickly. He was losing blood.

She had to get him to a hospital. Logan was becoming more human than anything. She lifted him up over her shoulder. Logan was heavy. With all the metal in his body, she almost didn't have the strength to pick him up. But she did. With some struggle and a few times she almost fell she made it to where Laura had pointed out the truck she saw. "Alright. Let's get going, Honey." Laura followed Evan as they walked to the truck. Evan threw Logan in the back and Laura sat in the front with her. Evan pushed Logan's hair back a little and felt like she was losing everyone. She closed his door and ran to her side getting in.

When Evan started up the truck she drove off. She knew if she looked back she would start crying again. She lost an important person in her life. Not from old age like the rest. Charles deserved to live longer. He was a good man and no one deserved his kindness.

Laura somehow knew what her mother was thinking and grabbed her hand. Laura didn't want her mother to be sad. Evan was smiling at her and then continued to drive to a hospital. Logan better not die on her. Or she'll kick his ass.
