Evanna had Laura laying in her lap while she and Charles talked about the good old days. It was hard for her to even believe that everything was changing. Mutants were dying and her hope was lost for all of them. Until Laura came. Truth be told, Evanna was glad she came into their lives. Evan was happy to have a daughter and find out about the many other mutant children.

Charles took Evans hand in his as she looked down at Laura. She was brushing her hair away from her face and Laura loved it. She loved how her mother was sweet to her. She loved how her mother was even there in the first place. "Anna?" Charles called out. She cringed at the nickname but it was Charles and she looked up at him. "Promise me one thing?" He was serious. 

"Anything for you," Evan says and he smiled. Evanna knew that this was probably important for him. Anything he said to her was important. Evan could never forget the first words he ever said to her when they first met. 

"I want you to save any mutants left. Evan, I want you to keep the school going again. These kids need a safe place. Somewhere that they can call home. I need you to do better than me and give these kids a home Anna. They need it." He squeezed her hand a bit. "You, need it." He looked so desperate to convince her. But there was just one thing wrong. 

"Charles, you should always know that I will do anything for you. So if that's what you want. Then I'll do it." She smiled at him. Charles was happy and now excited for what's to come. He knew Evanna a long time and for her to give him the most undivided attention was what made him happy.

They hear a knock at the door and Evan was confused. She carefully laid Laura down but she woke up anyways. "No Anna!" Charles yelled out but it was too late. Men came pouring in the room. They pinned her down while Laura tried to hide in a safe place. The thing was when the men reached him, Charles was having another seizure. Evan grabbed her head and yelled out in pain. 

Laura grabbed her's as well trying her best not to let it overcome her. With the strength of her parents, he was really strong. Evan though couldn't take the horrible sound. Laura crawled her way over to her mother and they both saw Logan come in. Laura killed the man on top of her making him fall on her, but Laura shoved him off. Evanna wanted so badly to call out to Logan but she couldn't. Logan stabbed the men closest to him and Evanna's eyes began to close. She was fading in and out. "Mama!" Laura yelled out and Logan looked at her. 

He had to hurry up. Laura watched as Evan's nose began to bleed and her eye's rolling into the back of her head. Logan stabbed the last few men near him and injected Charle's medicine. Laura and Logan began to breathe hard as Charles had stopped the episode. Evan was on the floor shaking. "Anna!" Logan yelled and sat next to her. Laura held her hand as she faded in and out of consciousness. "Evanna wake up. Come on, I can't carry you right now." Logan said as he pulled her up off the floor. 

Evanna was trying hard not to let herself slip into a deep sleep but it was hard. Her brain felt like it was shoved into a grinder and then shoved back into her skull. it was a horrible feeling. They made it to the elevator and she had gained a bit of her vision back. She looked around the casino and everyone was in pain. "I'm so sorry," Charles said and it broke Evans heart to hear his voice crack. 

"Come on." Logan pushed Charles chair to a huge truck. Evan grabbed Laura and quickly moved to the other side. She opened the door and buckled Laura in. Laura grabbed her hand and kept her from moving. Laura told her she was worried and Evan smiled softly. 

"I'm okay, baby," Evan says and kissed Laura's head before she closed the door and ran to the passenger seat. She slammed the door shut and Logan drove off quickly leaving the casino behind. Evanna sighed and closed her eyes. She was having one hell of a day.

It was silent for a few hours but Evan didn't mind it. After all, she does have a splitting headache. Logan kept his eyes on the road while Laura and Charles looked out the window. 

"You alright?" Logan asked Evan. She looked up at him and sighed. 

"Yeah. You got there just in time." She explained and put her feet on the seat. Logan took her hand in his and continued driving down the highway. It was silent until Laura got bored and began playing with the lock on the door. Logan got irritated and sighed loudly. 

"Knock it off," Logan said and Evan rolled her eyes. But Laura kept going. "I said knock it off." He said a bit louder. Laura kept going at it, so Evanna turned around and Laura looked at her. 

"Laura, please stop." So she did. Logan was a bit shocked at how Evan was such a natural with kids and how Laura listened to her. "Thank you, Honey." Laura smiled and laid back in her seat.

"She's just a child Logan," Charles said Evan sighed knowing he wasn't going to accept it. "In fact she's-"

"How long has it been since you took your meds?" Logan asked cutting him off. Charles looked out the window making Evan turn around to look at him. "Tell me how long has it been?"

"I don't know!" Charles yelled silencing Logan. "Two day's" Evan's eyes widened. 

"Charles, you saw what happened back there. If that could have gone on any longer-" Evan says and Charles rolled his eyes. 

"I did what I had to do to save Evanna and Laura."

"You didn't do anything! You just freaked out and had a fucking seizure!" Logan yelled out making Evan sink into her seat. 

" I guess you like me drugged out completely. It's so much easier for you." 

"So much easier for me. There is nothing easy about you." Logan says

"Oh yes. Yes. Please be like the rest of the world." This made Evan close her eyes. Charles was hurting and Logan wasn't helping him at all. "Blaming someone else for your boring shit." Her eyes shot open and she glared at Charles. He's like he was in his twenties. 

"Oh, I'm sorry I'm just a big disappointment." Evan grabbed Logan's hand in hers as he said that. 

"You honestly don't have a sense of purpose from what you know."

"Okay, What do we know?" He looked back in the review mirror. 

"There is a mutant." Logan nods his head at his words. "Sitting in this car. and where we are taking her there are others."

"Uh yeah."

"Does that mean nothing to you?"

"Yeah, it doesn't. It means nothing to me. Especially since that fucking Gabriella chick made it up using fucking comic books." Evan had enough. 

"Alright!" She yelled before Charles could say anything. "This is fucking ridiculous. You two are like fucking children. You two used to communicate with one another like adults. What the fuck happened?" 

"The world happened, Anna," Logan says and she glared at him for calling her that. "The World decided not to have mutants anymore and now we're all fucked up. Is that what you want to hear?"Evan took her hand back from his. 

"The world didn't do shit," Evan said "We did. We saved it and made it the land of the free. But aliens and big green monsters began to fuck it up with wars." She glared at the window but then turned to look at Logan. "Just stop fighting and yelling. Maybe Gabriella got it from a comic book, but so what. I don't know if it's real unless I see it. I have seen some weird shit Logan, so this doesn't surprise me." She leaned back in her seat shaking her head. 

"Give him these." Logan gave Laura a bottle of pills. Charles took them and Logan glared a little. "I want to see it." Charles stuck his tongue at him with his mouth open showing him he took it. Laura giggled and it made Evan smile. 

She had no idea what was in store but she just hoped that just maybe Logan and Charles could be nice for the rest of the trip. So She sat back and enjoyed the peace and quiet.
